Awesome weekend get away

  • 5 of 5

We had an awesome weekend!

The owners description was dead on.

The location was ideal - 5 minutes and 15 minutes to downtown Asheville.

This tiny cabin suited our needs.

The owners had the cabin immaculate upon our arrival.

(As I later understood the previous tenants caused some damage so the owners were scrambling to get repairs finished prior to our arrival ).

Due to that we had some minor questions that the owner promptly resolved within an hour or so on the first day. After that our 4 day vacation was worry free!!

Nicely equipped kitchen -

Terrific propane grill.

The hot tub was super hot !

The sofa is actually nicer than the one in the picture. It is a new futon - awesome for curling up with a book and listening to afternoon showers.

Wifi was sporadic but wasn't that big of a deal since our phones had strong 4g ( both ATT and Verizon )

We loved the 80s vintage stereo ! Great sound :).

The water is typical mountain well water. There were filters for drinking and showers. If sensitive - consider porting in your own.

Even though Ingles is down the road. We provisioned in a bag of ice.

The sheets and towels were nicer than we have at home. Almost like a luxury spa.

The directions and drive up was a non issue. Yea dirt road - even the last two switchbacks were non eventful. ( so flat landers have no worry!).

Very private / quiet setting. Our view was the woods. ( my preference ) The Yert down the road had more of a vAlly / mtns view.

Thanks again for a terrific weekend!

Cabin was super cute and cozy... perfect for couples! Hot tub was amazing (may wanna bring some mosquito repellent... we had to run to store to get citronella candles)! The location is perfect (road going to it is a lil sketchy), but u are seriously minutes away from Asheville! We had an awesome time and totally enjoyed this lil cabin!

Clean & Pet Friendly

  • 3 of 5

Asheville is a "Must See" place! If you are in need of a short vacation, then check out Asheville which is only 3 hours from Atlanta. Our stay at "Little Moose Cabin" was clean, pet friendly, and less than 15 minutes from all attractions in downtown Asheville, NC. It could use some updates with shower facuet and the stove, also there was a peculiar gas smell that we couldn't find an origin coming from seeing that we never used the stove. But, it was fine for The owner, Simms, responded to our emails and phone calls within a timely manner. I will say, that when you are heading up the mountainous road (.3 miles), and accidentally take a "left" at the second fork in the road instead of "right", beware of the homeowner b/c they might follow you down the road and try to have an altercation with you. It happened to us, but after a quick phone call to Simms, the owner of the cabin we stayed in, he took care of the problem.

As this was our first time to Asheville, we were really trying to find some fun things to do. If you are looking for things to do in Asheville, here are some great options: Tour the Biltmore and go behind the scenes to learn interesting things about the Vanderbilts; Asheville Food Tour (AMAZING and worth every penny and your full by the end of the tour), Lazoom Beer and Music Comedy Tour; Craggy Gardens hike (1.5 miles roundtrip) located in the Blue Ridge Mountain and only minutes from the cabin. The great thing about this hike is anybody can walk it and it is pet friendly. Some great places to eat: #1 Sunny Point Bakery & Cafe (but be prepared to wait), White Duck Taco, Corner Kitchen (in Biltmore Village), Biscuit Head, and Wicked Weed Brewing Company. The only restaurant we wanted to hit, but was unable to was 12 Bones BBQ. We heard some wonderful things about that place. When you go to downtown, the parking can be limited, so check out uber!!!!!!

Ashevillians are all about dogs, and they will be treated like royalty. Just about any place that has an outdoor patio caters to dogs. We loved how the locals treated our fur babies and how friendly they were. So, we will definitely head back to Asheville, sooner rather than later.

Owner's Response: The gas smell that they were smelling was due to a pilot light in the stove going out. We have specific directions in our manual on how to deal with this issue.
