About The Owner

I live on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina and love the beach and the mountains. My faith and my family are the most important things in my life. My four pound Morkie, Mikey, runs a close third. I have been searching for the perfect mountain getaway for a couple of years. Having been a real estate broker for 30 years, I knew when I first saw this property---it was perfect! This is a peaceful place where my children, grandchildren, and I will enjoy for many years.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2015

Why The Owner chose Candler

I remember years ago coming to the mountains and driving through Saluda, NC listening to the sound of the stream. I said then, 'I want a cabin on a stream like this someday'.

I was looking on the internet and found this cabin for sale and soon made the trip to Asheville to see it. Driving across the covered bridge with trout waters rushing underneath, the view of the mountains and the private, safe setting all let me know this was the cabin for me. When I stepped onto the twenty-five foot front porch overlooking the steam and sat down in the swing, I made the decision to buy the property. I could see the potential for the perfect mountain escape.

When I purchased the cabin I had no idea all that would need to be done to make it the cozy, warm paradise I was looking for. The house had to be rewired, re-plumbed, a new foundation poured, insulation added, new cabinets and counter top, new appliances, new bathroom and an addition built.

I started planning the renovations and hired the best carpenter in Asheville to make the changes necessary for a romantic vacation retreat for couples to enjoy when I am spending time at my home at the beach.

What makes this cabin unique

This serene property is a 'jaw-dropper'. The spectacular views of the mountains coupled with the sounds of the stream make this one of the most unique places to stay near Asheville. You have total privacy in this exquisitely decorated cabin, yet you are close to downtown Asheville. There is only one step up leading into the cabin, so it is great for couples as they enjoy the adventure of aging. It is such a romantic, quiet setting that couples of all ages will enjoy the comfort of modern day amenities while experiencing the beauty of nature.

Map

The famous Biltmore Estate is only 20 minutes away. Only 16 miles from downtown Asheville, my cabin's property boarders the Pisgah National Forest. Hiking trails through Pisgah National Forest from the cabin!

Hiking trails are abundant only minutes away on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

March to November you can enjoy breakfast at the Pisgah Inn on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

A favorite downtown shopping spot in Asheville, Hendersonville, and Waynseville is Mast General Store.

Our favorite restaurants are the Admiral and Curate', you must make reservations early though.

Serene and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

We just came back from our honeymoon at this cabin and had a wonderful time! The cabin has all the amenities one could want and then some! We loved sitting on the porch, listening to the stream as we watched the sun go down. The cabin is secluded but within 15 minutes of everything Asheville has to offer. The cabin was very clean and nicely appointed. We are already thinking of when we can come back! Thanks for a great stay! - The McAlister's

Very relaxing!

Very beautiful location! Cabin was clean decorated well. The shower was great! Only downside was the neighbors barking dogs, but they did at least quiet down at night.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind remarks. I am so sorry about the neighbors dogs. He has reduced the number from 6 to 4. I am working hard on a solution. Again, thank you for enjoying our "Little Private Paradise". And, we hope you will return soon! Peace and Blessings, Tammy and BeJe

Perfect for Our Relaxing Getaway! Very Private, Loved the Mountain Stream, Hot tub & Firepit!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 3 nights never leaving as We were seeking a Romantic, Relaxing, Private Time away! It was all We were looking for! We did question the No Frying Request for the kitchen range. The burner control knobs were stripped on the outdoor gas grill. A light blocking shade would be nice to prevent the outside light from shining in on the bed at night! We look forward to returning to this beautiful property. Reservation and Information were easy and thorough! We were not disappointed found it to be clean, neat and updated nicely! Loved it!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the review and enjoying our very special, private place. In regards to the "No Frying", we had several guest that were pouring their grease remains over the deck rail or in the yard, which is a potential for attracting bears and raccoons. We have never had a problem and are just cautious of starting one. The knobs on the grill were there when Tammy cleaned the cabin prior to your arrival. We will be sure they are replaced. And, we will look for a room darkening blind. We appreciate your suggestions, helping us to make the Creekside Cabin as welcoming as possible! We look forward to your return visit! Peace and blessings, Tammy and BeJe

One of our favorites!

  • 4 of 5

We love this place. It is the second time we have stayed here, and we have recommended it to our friends. It is just 20 mins away from the downtown arts district, Biltmore, and anything else in Asheville. There is a great grocery store that is close if you like to stay in for dinner and lots of options downtown and at Biltmore, if you want to go out. They have all these great extra touches that we love like wine glasses in the freezer, a makeup table and mirror in a little room off the bedroom, and the view is excellent with the creek right outside. There is also a fantastic fire pit area, a hot tub and a hammock for starlit nights. There is a beautiful back porch with a swing and rockers if it is raining with a great view of the creek. It is private as you have to open a gate to get to the cabin, so you do not have to worry about being disturbed during your visit. The only issue my husband and I had was the bed. It is very frim and is a queen size. If you are a custom to soft and a king size bed this could be a small issue. This is a unique place for a couple that wants to get away! We will be going back, and I highly recommend staying there.

Beautiful Property

  • 4 of 5

Property was just as pictured and it has everything you could possibly need. We spent our 12th anniversary here and my husband really found it relaxing. It was nice listening to the brook running next to the property on the back porch. It was also nice walking and enjoying all of the outdoor space. There were some barking dogs near by that were really annoying, but not much can be done about that. We also weren’t aware of what appears to be an attached owners suite or additional space with outside entrance which was a little weird. Kind of gave the feeling someone was going to pop up at any given time. I remember a previous review saying something about it, but I didn’t know it was attached to the cabin. Other than that everything was wonderful and it really is a well kept property and nicely decorated with special details to give that nature feel and look. We would love to return again in the future!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review and congratulations on your anniversary! I am also glad that you enjoyed your stay. I do apologize for the dogs as we are working on that issue and hope to resolve it soon. Regarding the lock out, there will never be anyone there when the cabin is rented.. We only come and stay four or five times a year to deep clean and do major yard work and also enjoy “our little piece of heaven”. Again, thank you for staying with us and we look forward to your return soon. Peace and blessings, Tammy and BeJe

Just as described

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely, private, cozy cabin nestled in the woods. Careful attention was given to many details to make this a wonderful getaway cabin. The kitchen is well stocked and there are many indoor and outdoor sitting spaces for all times of the day. Add the sounds of the creek, the birds, the trees, the hot tub...what more could we have wanted?
