Waterfront Beach Cottage Retreat

Bedrooms 2
Space 768 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom (Sleeps 5)

Get away from it all and relax at our beach house that has been in the family for over 90 years! 100 feet of low-bank waterfront north of Suquamish near the entrance to Miller Bay.

Unbelievable views of Puget Sound from this secluded private retreat. Perfect for beach combing (up to 250 yards exposed at low tide), wildlife viewing (bald eagles and dozens of blue herons are regulars), or just relaxing in the hot tub.

With vaulted ceilings and large windows with expansive views, this cozy cabin has character at every corner and feels much bigger than it's listed square footage.

Upgrades like heated tile floors in the bathroom and a wonderful wood stove will make sure you have an amazing time even if the northwest weather doesn't cooperate.

Check-in 4:00 PM, Check-out 11:00 AM

***Spring Update: We are closing down for a few weeks in April/May to begin a major restoration project. We will be completely removing the wooden bulkhead and restoring the shoreline/front yard to a more natural state. Stay tuned for new pictures as the project completes!

About Paul Saxton

We are both born and raised in the Seattle area. We continue to call the Northwest home and love all it has to offer. We enjoy very active lifestyles and can regularly be found cycling, running, hiking, or snowshoeing just to name a few.

Paul Saxton purchased this house in 2006

Why Paul Saxton chose Suquamish

This property just north of Suquamish has been in the family since the early 1920's. The current cabin was built in 1962, and we've been steadily making improvements while maintaining its original character and charm. Our family has generations of memories here and we love being able to share this special place with family and friends.

Perfect Getaway Spot

  • 5 of 5

Paul and Meghan have made this a very comfortable, clean and welcoming space to go for a few days when interested in a short trip away from Seattle.

Although the house is probably no more than 10 miles from the city, as the crow flies, you feel as if you are far away from all of the noise, chaos and have entered a serene and safe world away. The house is perfectly equipped with any and everything you might need during your stay. Communication with the owners is outstanding and Paul consistently reaches out to be sure there are no issues or needs.

Could not imagine a better location with better owners.

Thanks again for allowing us back again, we will be seeing you very soon.

Do be careful on the steep driveway especially if travelling during the wet winter months.

Suquamish Sunrise Sanctuary

  • 5 of 5

We rented this little beach house 3 weeks ago just to get away for the weekend and to share the beauty of this area with my boyfriend's father, who is fairly new to the NW, having moved here from the SW 1.5 years ago. We also brought good friend Susan, who gently woke us all each morning for the glorious sunrise, coffee ready. From the moment we walked in, we just loved the place. Very clean, very well appointed, gorgeous views of the water looking east towards downtown Seatttle, off in the distance. The beds and sofa were comfy, everything worked great (stove, fridge, grill, heat). We rent a lot of vacation properties, always with a hot tub and the hot tub on this property is the best we've come across, so I wanted to be sure and put that in this review; very clean but sans that strong chemical vapor, super strong jets, lighting if you need it and, of course, looking out towards the water, like the house. We paid our respects to Chief Sealth's grave, as well as the graves of the Sealth and Kitsap tribal members and the military cemetary, just a short ways from the house. Very moving. We didnt get a chance to visit the longhouse where Chiefs Sealth and Kitsap spent their final years, but I recommend it, part of the honorable history of this area. The staff at Sully's in downtown Suquamish were super nice, let me use the bathroom and we ordered some breaded mushrooms to go, which were delicious. Cooked up a storm at the beach house, the grill and oven/stove worked great! Plenty of cookware and dishes for meals. Wifi worked great and I just love it when hosts like Paul & Meghan really think of details like robes & slippers for the hot tub, so gracious and accommodating. And I loved seeing Daniel, my boyfriend's father, sitting out on the deck at sunrise and just enjoying the view throughout the day, replete with seals, eagles and cranes..made me happy. Oh, and its super easy to get to from Seattle (you could even take public transport, just need to be careful walking down the steep drive to the house) so, if you're visiting and just want to get out of the city a bit and explore a new area, no problem. If you're like us urban animals living up on top of Capitol Hill, its a wonderful, hassle-free weekend getaway and we'll be back. Thanks for everything, Meghan and Paul, it was a bit rainy (not that we minded) so, next time we'll have a fire in the firepit down near the beach :)

Relaxing Week Away From It all

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying at the beach cottage. We absolutely adore this place! The setting is perfect as it's right on the water allowing for stunning views from sunrise to sunset. We spent endless hours beach combing and exploring when the tide was out. Our kids were in heaven the entire time. The cottage is very cozy and warm, so easy to settle in to and relax. We saw bald eagles and sea lions almost everyday we were there. This is truly a special place. I'm so thankful we found it!

Loved it and will come again

  • 5 of 5

I would start by saying that my friends and I enjoyed our stay. Paul was very caring and very very prompt when i reached out to him. The house was fully stocked with the basics that one would need for a few days. The view was amazing and wouldn't have asked for a better house for our short stay. Thank you Paul.
