Charming artist’s retreat in the Hudson Valley. Renovated & designed by interior designer based in Soho, every detail considered to create a beautiful weekend retreat. Perfect place to relax, read, enjoy the fresh country air. Near hiking, skiing, horseback riding, antiquing, great area restaurants. Enchanted setting in a very private grove of cedar trees. The cottage has 2 bedrooms each with a full size bed, living and dining area open to kitchen. Stone patio with charcoal grille, and relaxing hammock!

Cozy & comfortable! Charming cottage, lovely grounds. "Away from it all," yet, convenient to hiking areas, waterfalls, the Hudson River, and good restaurants. Maureen, the host, was lovely.

Extremely relaxing.

This is a beautiful property that will relax you immediately. The views and simple solitude take effect the moment you walk in the door. Watch the stunning sunrise and end your day sitting outside watching the sunset. It doesn’t get any sweeter.

Dream Cottage in the woods

We found it so relaxing. We didn't want to leave to tour the area. We did make it out to the Saugerties Light House. Very nice.

Refuge from the storm

Escaped Long Island’s noise, traffic and overall stress . Listened to owls, watched birds soaring, kicked up leaves and gazed at the periwinkle colored mountains while perched on a bench. Felt safe enough knowing civilization was near enough, would have liked a landline phone just in case of an emergency

Love this cabin!

We had a great time with a couple of friends celebrating our anniversary in this cabin. It is nice and private. We loved the fire place and used it a lot! It is a great location and is close to Woodstock. We would definitely stay here again. My only complaint, there was no tea pot-as a tea drinker I would have liked to have one.

BEST Christmas Getaway!

Maureen is the greatest host — always happy to answer questions and check-in on you just in case. Her home is so cozy and stocked for anything a guest might need. We can’t recommend her enough. We spent a magical Christmas surrounded by cedar trees and a crackling fireplace. 10/10

Oasis in the woods

From beginning to end a pleasant stay. Owner was on contact to make sure everything was in order. Fresh cut flowers, plenty of clean white fluffy towels, comfortable bedding and the view through sparkling clear windows. What a wonderful way to spend the mother's day weekend with my daughter and spend some time outdoors exploring little Hudson river towns. 10 thumbs up!!!!

Gorgeous cottage

The property is an absolute delightful cottage with a ton of books and artwork by our artist host. Very cool. Chipmunks, squirrels, a fox and a ton of birds spent their time visiting us. Maureen was so terrific in her correspondence and information. We will be back!!

Great location!!

The setting for the home was beautiful and peaceful. We loved that! We needed specific directions on how to get there because it is hidden. I would recommend not driving there in the dark. The house is old and unfortunately, it had been closed up for a few days I guess and it was musty when we entered; that wasn’t very inviting. We lit candles to help us with the smell. The owner is aware of this and I doubt if it will happen again because when it is fresh and clean, it’s delightful!!! The furnishings are quaint and sweet and add to the ambiance. The kitchen appliances and some dishes I feel needed replacing 😐 Overall, I’m glad we were in the midst of the color and fresh air😊

very very nice

This is a very clean, very well-loved, and just delightful house that was perfect for our party of two plus medium sized dog (and, our grown son who visited for a few nights). The views from the dining room and from outside are stunning and sitting outside in the yard (or walking along the local very low-traffic roads) also offered many opportunities for sightings of wildlife. Our stay during the summer of Canadian wildfires meant that we ran the a/c more than we wished, but it works VERY well! Alas, we had no chance to try the fireplace. The house has a lot of personality (as is shown in the photos!) and offers a lot of comfortable places to read, talk, or nap. We enjoyed the art/paintings throughout the house and truly appreciated the various small touches that made our stay relaxing and easy from the moment we arrived. This is the rare house that has an abundance of things that are usually in short supply in vacation rental kitchens and bathrooms: towels, utensils for grilling, glassware, cutlery, a bread knife, proper cutting boards, etc. The lovely lovely bathroom has recently been renovated (or so it appears!). Maureen is great - communication on various topics was really straightforward and easy. thank you!

A delightful gem of a getaway. The home was immaculate and the host could not have been nicer. Checking in was seamless, and the little touches (flowers, linens, etc.) were thoughtful. I’d highly recommend it.

Charming and cozy, with a breathtaking view

This cottage is perfect! Clean and comfortable, with every amenity covered, with such lovely touches as fresh flowers and farm-fresh eggs! The highlight was the view from the overlook -- breathtaking in the late spring and probably every season! Maureen is a perfect host -- precise directions and instructions, and a level of thoughtfulness that goes above and beyond. I look forward to staying there again!

Cozy cabin, perfect location

This super cozy cabin is perfectly located and close to major Catskills towns. Yet, Maureen has done an amazing job at creating a space that feels far away from every thing. Town and groceries are less than 10mins away. We visited Kingston and Woodstock - also nearby. The nearby trail options are endless too.This home is exemplar of what VRBO stands for. I am an Interior Designer, originally from the Midwest and Upstate New York. My husband, Ross, grew up in the cottage, he is now a fine artist and painting professor.

Why they chose this property

This property is my husband's childhood home. His parents rented, then purchased the cottage from a local landowner in the mushroom business. The house is filled with warm memories as well as examples of Ross's early paintings. He was and is strongly influenced by the beaurtiful Hudson Valley light!

What makes this property unique

The quiet setting is truly magical. I will never forget the first time I drove up the hill and saw the house and stone chimney surrounded by cedar trees. It is a special place!!
