Why Michael Vallarella chose Saugerties
This property has been the culmination of a life long dream and a lifetime of work. Since the age of 5, I grew up as a summer and weekend kid on the adjacent land where my parents had a cabin. The property where this log cabin sits had belonged to friends of my parents. Since the age of 14, I told them that I dreamed of living on this site and that I would do whatever it takes to buy it someday. What else could a teenager say. That was in 1978, and I had spent the subsequent 21 years pleading with them let me buy it. Of course, I didn't have any money at the time, so it was becoming a more and more elusive dream. While my parents' site was beautiful, as are all sites on the Esopus Creek, this had view to die for. One that looks all the way down the creek, for miles. Finally, in 2000, at age 35, the previous owners sold me the land and held the mortgage, thus, putting my dream within reach. This log cabin was completed in 2005. I built it myself over the course of 3 years. My wife and I have lived in it full time since 2008 and have loved every moment here. We have since built our main house adjacent to this log cabin and have decided to offer it to guests that wish to enjoy the same beauty and peacefulness of this very special little corner of the world.
What makes this Cabin unique
Unlike most lakefront properties, there is no one on the other side. Just nature. The home itself is completely hand built with hand peeled logs. And the sounds of the Forest at night are beautiful. Like jet skiing or fishing with your own boat? The village has a public beach with public ramp to put your watercraft in the water and bring it on down the creek to the cabin. Also, a great way to go from the cabin to the village by boat. Leave the car back at the ranch and cruise by water into the village.

Creekside Acres is Amazing!
We loved staying at Creekside Acres and Michael was the best host and he was friendly, helpful, and attentive.
The photos are 100% accurate and there are surprises that await, including the amazing staircase down to the Esopus Creek with viewing platforms at different angles. So beautiful.
The cabin is so cozy and has all the comforts we needed. Our dog loved it too!! Such a great place!
The outdoor fire pit was great too.

serenity with all the amenities
This is a cozy, cute, and comfortable cabin on the banks of Esopus creek. You cannot go wrong staying here, whatever your traveling needs are! I comfortably shared Michael's cabin with my husband and mom for a night, and then alone for a two additional nights while I was in the area to compete at the HITS horse show. Not a second of my time was wasted worrying about being there by myself or worried that I'd be bored! The interior is so cozy-the bedrooms are comfortable and the front bedroom had blackout shades which came in handy to get some good sleep in preparation for my event. Even though I barely used the kitchen, I appreciated that it was well appointed and spacious, complete with a full sized refrigerator and dish washer.
Though the interior is lovely, the exterior is where it's at! The deck and picnic table right outside the front door overlooking the creek is just stunning. All I had to do was sit out there with coffee and a book and I was in heaven. The view of Esopus creek from above is pristine- I think there were maybe three kayakers and 1 motor boat on the creek the entire time I was there (not including myself!), otherwise the creek is like a mirror. It was fun watching the birds fish in the mornings. I did love having the use of two kayaks and a paddle boat. I took the kayaks out with my husband and enjoyed a very relaxing paddle down the creek. The water is crystal clear and is perfect for any water activity you want. Another highlight of the outdoors was the gas firepit. There are almost no bugs out there believe it or not, and sitting around the fire pit at night was super fun.
Overall - this place is a GEM. I almost hate to spill the beans because I want it for myself every time, but you can't beat renting this place if you're in the area for HITS - its 12 minutes away max and you won't beat the comfort and relaxation after a long day at the show. I can't thank Michael enough for his generous hospitality. I almost solely rent from VRBO/HomeAway when traveling - domestic and internationally - and I can't say enough about this wonderful home. The photos certainly do not tell the whole story. See for yourself. I will be back!!!
We're so happy you enjoyed your time at Creekside Acres. Nice to hear it was a restful part of your exciting events at HITS. We'd love to see you again next year. And thanks for looking after the cabin and leaving it so tidy when you left. Another AAA+++ guest...always welcome here.
A beautiful and meditative setting in the woods
What an incredible get away! We got here on a Tuesday afternoon and left the cabin only once to go hiking in the Catskills nearby. We idled away the hours peacefully reading, kayaking, sitting on the deck overlooking the creek, grilling and eating as darkness fell and the crickets tuned up. Our host was attentive and helpful, the cabin tastefully decorated. I fished from the kayak and caught a handful of good sized small mouth bass and crappie, but mostly we just enjoyed the peace and quiet of this tranquil and beautiful spot. Thank you Michael -- we look forward to returning soon.
We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for looking after our home during your stay. We truly hope to see you again when you come to this side of the country to visit. AAA+++ guests and you're always welcome here at Creekside Acres!
A diamond in the woods! I highly reccomend staying at this charming cabin. Your senses will thank you.
Rates & Availability
Additional information about rental rates
Suggested occupancy for this home is (4) adults (2 in Queen bed, and 2 in Full bed. Couch can sleep (2) children if necessary for a total occupancy of 4 adults and 2 children, but 4 people is optimal. It is our goal to have completely satisfied guests. And with that in mind, we want our guests to understand that this a cabin in the woods that has all the charm of rustic living with all the comforts of home. However, there are some variables associated with a secluded location. There is no Wi-fi, but there is good cell service and a very strong Verizon signal. TV is a 42" plasma with basic Satellite service, and is not HD. While the bathroom is a comfortable size, it is a shower only that measures 28" x 28", a little smaller that a standard shower. The wraparound porch has outdoor ceiling fans, dining table, settee, and a rocking chair. Outdoor fire pit has five chairs with room for many more. Summer bookings include the use of two kayaks and paddles. You will need to bring personal life vests if required. We live next door on the same property surrounded by 40 acres of woods that you are free to hike in. This is our guest home that is adjacent to our home about 400ft away. We love having guests that love and appreciate the beauty of being in a very secluded location while being only minutes to all that the Hudson Valley has to offer. Home has central a/c and heat as well as a wood burning stove for Winter guests. Ceiling fans are in all rooms for added comfort. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. Enjoy nature, water, privacy, and activities galore. Read a book on the porch or kayak and swim in the creek. Dine at some of the Hudson Valley's finest restaurants, or prepare dinner at home and eat waterside. Whatever your preference, the choice is yours. We look forward to having you as our guest.
