About Norman & Catherine Stoehr

We designed and built Eaglerock as our vacation home to come to the mountains to escape the heat in summer from our permanent residence in Florida. We wanted a great view and when we cleared the lot the view was beyond what we could have imagined! We first visited Asheville but after coming to Hendersonville we fell in love with the place. It is such a beautiful little town and has real and vibrant downtown economy. The energy there is just fantastic here

We love the mountain golf courses and enjoy motorcycling all over Western NC.

We now have a cottage on Morrison Lake in Muskoka, Canada and have been spending a good bit of time there rather than in the mountains.

Norman & Catherine Stoehr purchased this chateau / country house in 2001

Why Norman & Catherine Stoehr chose Smoky Mountains

As an Architect and Interior Designer this gave us the opportunity to design and furnish a home that maximized the views and was suited to the way we live. We wanted an open plan that was great for entertaining and a large deck to accommodate spacious outdoor living. Finding a lot that was close in with a terrific view was difficult, but we just got lucky be just 10 minutes form downtown Hendersonville

Appliances, fire pit on the huge deck and the indoor fire place. Also enjoyed the hot tub, and even the washer and dryer we're over the top. You can't go wrong. Everything from original call, through contract went very well. House was perfect and very clean.

Enjoyable stay

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our time at EagleRock. The view from the back of the house is wonderful and the sunrises were awesome. The home is clean and comfortable with everything we needed to use in working order. The kitchen, huge windows, and lighting were particularly nice. I haven't slept in a water bed since the 70's and was not too sure about that but found it very comfortable. We'll definitely look to stay here should we ever plan to spend time out this way again. Very pleased.

Nice Place!

  • 5 of 5

Eaglerock did not disappoint. It was pretty as the pictures on the site. We were fortunate to have really nice weather and the favorite and best part of the house was the view in the morning from the master bedroom. House was well equipped as we cooked every night we were there. Overall beautiful house and beautiful area to see and visit.

Beautiful home in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home because of its proximity to downtown Hendersonville, Flat Rock and Kanuga and because it is pet friendly. When we arrived, we were truly blown away by the beauty of the home - the pictures don't do it justice; there is a warmth and comfort to the house that needs to be experienced in person. All of the furnishings and appliances are top-notch, and the interior decorations and outdoor landscaping are both lovely. We enjoyed watching sunrises and sunsets on the deck and through the huge bedroom windows, and our evenings were spent gathered around the dining room table while we ate and played games. This house is perfect for entertaining and made us wish we had brought a larger crowd in order to show it off! The only small drawbacks (and they are small) were the lack of free wireless (which wasn't a big deal for us this trip but may be for some individuals); the waterbed in the master bedroom lacked the support we are accustomed to with a traditional mattress, the steep driveway (we were pros at getting in and out easily after a few days and we understand that steepness comes with the territory when you are on the side of a mountain!), and the guest shower which does not have very good water pressure. All in all, the comfort and beauty of the home more than make up for any slight negatives, and we look forward to staying here again in the future!

Lovely place, beautiful view, good location.

  • 5 of 5

A great place to stay. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, the rooms were spacious, the view was amazing, the ease of getting to outdoor activities or shopping was great and the hot tub was nice. Just know, there is no internet. You must use your phone as hotspot. Also we weren't huge fans of the waterbed in the master bedroom.

We would come again.
