Carriage House is a charming luxury guesthouse, right in the heart of lively downtown Plymouth just a block from the waterfront and harbor and the perfect place to stay. It’s always rewarding to have a luxurious, convenient place as your home-away-from-home.

FIRST FLOOR: Bright foyer with cheerful star carpet. Large double living room with fireplace and dining area. Top quality Wolf/SubZero kitchen with bay window seating. Private main-level queen ensuite bedroom with private shower bathroom (a graceful amenity created for the main purpose of accommodating our revered elder guests and those with a bit of mobility issues. While we are mobility-friendly we are not fully ADA compliant). Charming bathroom/powder room so the main floor private bedroom doesn't have to share its bathroom. And a wraparound farmer's porch for easy outdoor access.

SECOND FLOOR: Large Queen bedroom with canopy bed, digital TV, wet bar/vanity, and en suite full shower bathroom with special architectural features. Bedroom with antique full-size bed. Twin bedroom with 2 single beds and 3 delightful dormers. Laundry room with full bathroom (shower) off hallway. (This house does not have a tub at this time).

YARD Attractive, compact downtown yard with lawn, flowers, barbecue area, Weber grill,

You'll have privacy, a beautiful in-town stay, understated luxury and comfort, central HVAC throughout the home, a classy kitchen (Sub Zero and Wolf state-of-the-art appliances), spacious living room w fireplace + fabulous SubZero wet bar microwave pantry. Breakfast window seat in kitchen for un-serious dining and checking email via wifi. This home offers four (total) comfortable bedrooms with quality linens. Two of the bedrooms are "en suite" with private bathrooms. And the upstairs master even has its own wet bar/morning kitchen for a tad of privacy for a couple (while the grandparents reconnect with the grandkids downstairs). Total renovation gave us 3.5 bathrooms with classic tile showers and granite countertops. And LOCATION...all in a yesteryear home you can rent like a hotel so you can play tourist without getting stuck in a bland boxy hotel room.

Step out your door, and 30 feet away, a few times a year are the famous parades at Thanksgiving and Independence Day. A block beyond that is the harbor and whale watch boats, seafood eateries, restaurants, fine dining, and even fresh caught seafood to bring home and grill. Historic sites abound, along with walk-to-everything boutiques, antiques, museums, art galleries (not like Provincetown, but we are getting there)!

Prices are based on time of year (off season/low season/high season, holiday/non-hoilday) number of guests and length of stay (longer stays get lower rates.) . Holiday weeks and High Season weeks are $3850/week for UP TO 8 guests. OFF SEASON - low rates, please inquire

Why robin chose Plymouth

Plymouth is historic, Plymouth is American's beginnings. Sometimes you have to look twice to recognize the past under layers of progress...hat mansion (now professional office condos or lawyers offices) or that textile mill (only partly there and now Isaacs Restaurant, winery, visitor's center.) So look twice and see back in time to when this fancy guesthouse served as an1830s carriage and horse barn. It was converted into a home in the early 20th century, and survived to be reimagined (and almost totally rebuilt) as an excitingluxury Guest House.

What makes this house unique

Walk to all of Historic downtown Plymouth attractions - 1 block to whale watch boats and harbor, 2 blocks to Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower II (currently in dry dock in Mystic, Conn, but returning in 2019), 3 blocks to Brewster Gardens park and stream. Walk to restaurants, museums, art galleries, coffee shops and boutique, antique malls and fancy clothiers: Setting the Space, the Exchange Antques, Blue Blinds Bakery, Plymouth Center for the Arts, exciting antique stores like The Exchange and Plymouth Antiques and Main Street Antiques, monuments, statues, gardens, souvenirs shops with their tee shirts, pubs and more pubs, lobster, gourmet food, a new "gastro pub called The Tasty, downscale seafood, upscale seafood, upscale Italian, tea room (oops, now it is a bagel and coffee shop) , Flax+Life Is Good boutique, run distillery, breakfast places, rich architectural heritage in its ancient homes (see ANTIQUE MILL STREAM COTTAGE at the Grist MIll. Http:// ), our uxury 330 year old guest house with 2 Sub Zero refrigerators, central air., and a waterfall.

Fabulous Updated Antique in the Heart of Downtown Plymouth

  • 4 of 5

Having grown up in Plymouth before relocating to the Midwest nearly a decade ago, our family of 6 have become connoisseurs of the vacation rental property market on the South Shore and Cape Cod. The Carriage House quickly became one of our favorite places -

everyone from the visiting grandmothers to the teenagers on their iPhones were utterly charmed by it.

The home is absolutely LOVELY, and the period detail from room to room will thrill you, but the modern amenities tucked in seamlessly will amaze you even more. Robin's knack for placing exactly what you need, exactly where you'll need it will remind you how wonderful a warm welcome by a gracious host feels.

I can't imagine a better location for seeing Plymouth, especially for one of Plymouth's big parades - Thanksgiving would be a marvelous time to be here! Cocoa or hot cider in steaming mugs on the porch with the kids running down the sidewalk to see the parade pass by? It would be like living in a Norman Rockwell painting!

The house has one fantastic bedroom suite on the first floor, great for anyone who can't do stairs. The other 3 bedrooms (one en suite) are on the 2nd floor. FYI, there are two sets of stairs in the home; the front stairs have a carpet runner and the back stairs do not. There is a baby gate which we used to block off the back stairs so our 4 year old wouldn't try to sneak down them at night and inadvertently slip and fall. (Q. How many summer vacations would I have sold my rental car for a baby gate in the middle of the night to stop a toddler from escaping some room or another? A. All of them!) There is also a high quality crib (not the kind of cheap porta-crib you get at a hotel) which we did not need but were very impressed to see on hand.

I imagine that families and friends of most ages and stages would find the Carriage House welcoming and enjoyable for a stay of any length, and we hope we are able to return.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind words. We take our 100% 5-star review status very seriously and understand that some people will not give 5 stars except in the rarest, most sublime, out-of-this-world experience. We appreciate this guest's glowing comments: "The home is absolutely LOVELY" –– "period detail from room to room will thrill you" –– "the modern amenities tucked in seamlessly will amaze you even more" –– "exactly what you need, exactly where you'll need it" –– "how wonderful a warm welcome by a gracious host feels" ––"I can't imagine a better location" –– "The house has a fantastic bedroom suite on the first floor" This owner is puzzled at the tepid 4-star rating, which gives the impression we could have done more at this 5-star home. "Updated" hardly begins to tell of our massive and costly renovation, most rooms gutted to the studs to allow for the recreation of a totally new home inside an antique frame (and recreated outside, too.) Two gorgeous queen suites, 2 more comfortable bedoorms, 3 full subway tile shower bathrooms with granite vanities, grohe faucets, plus a powder room (so nobody can be inconvenienced.) Upper queen suite includes coffee/wet bar/vanity for a late morning sleep in with coffee. Where do you find a gourmet kitchen with 48" Wolf Range, huge Pro Hood, SubZero refrigerator and Diswasher Drawers? Central air conditioning, gleaming wood floors, elegant wool carpets, quality bed linen and mountains of fluffy towels? New Electrolux digital laundry with laundry supplies. Full sized soaps at every shower and faucet. Ample everything. During construction, entire rooms were removed to give lofty spaces with beautiful daylight. Yes, it is "Updated" as our guest noticed – to say the least. And to quote our guest, they were "UTTERLY CHARMED BY IT." All other guests gave us 5 stars, and we are eager to hear how we can win our 5th star from this "connoisseur of vacation rentals on the South Shore/Cape Cod."

What an amazing stay we had!!!!

  • 5 of 5

This is a very charming well maintained home in walking distance to town. We absolutely loved it! The owners were amazing and we really felt well taken care of! I would highly recommend this home to anyone wanting more space than what a hotel room offers and also to experience some of the old world charm Plymouth has to offer. It's important to know that this charming home has been completely renovated and decorated in very excellent taste!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind words. With 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, our home is indeed more space than hotel room! And while we are on a quiet street, we are actually IN Town -- just a long block from the harbor and whale watch boats, restaurants, parks, boutiques, and antique shops. To be more 'IN town' you'd need to be sitting atop Plymouth Rock.

The owners themselves are grand people!!!

We would all go again ---- and hope to one day.

Carriage House Christmas

  • 5 of 5

Since all of our children would be celebrating Christmas this year with their in-laws, we decided to have our family's Christmas the week before and start the tradition of renting a house big enough to accommodate all of us in a cozy New England destination.

Upon our arrival the cheerful yellow front door greeted us with a festive wreath and candles twinkled in every window. There was even a duralog in the basket by the fireplace, which I promptly lit while we decorated the tree that we had brought along.

The house itself was gorgeous, spotless, and well stocked with everything we needed for a cozy Christmas. I will also say that the house is bigger in person than it appears in the pictures on line. There was plenty of room for us (7 adults, one toddler, and 2 small dogs) to really spread out. We cooked delicious meals in the beautiful kitchen, watched Christmas movies in the huge living room while the fire crackled. Played games, saw the historic sights, ate out, strolled around the downtown and just about fell into the comfy beds at night happy and exhausted from all of the fun. We even woke up on our "Christmas" morning to a gentle snow fall and the front walk and sidewalk had already been shoveled. Picture perfect!

This was our first time renting a home on line and the experience was perfect from start to finish. Everything far exceeded my expectations and we will definitely be back to do this again. My only regret is that we didn't book for a longer stay. Thank you Robin for your hospitality! 🎄

Four of us; my 94-year-old mother, daughter and granddaughter and I converged on the Carriage House. To our surprise our first night in town was Plymouth’s Holiday open house, with beautifully trimmed windows, carolers, and a marathon through town. The Carriage House was a perfect refuge from the chill after our brisk cool walk through town over to the statute of Massasoit then down to Plymouth Rock.

The colors, furnishings fireplace that greeted us were the makings of a Hollywood Holiday movie set. A fully stocked, spacious eat in gourmet kitchen served as a gathering spot, as local family members dropped by to say hello to the families Matriarch, my mother. We cooked, laughed, celebrated family and the Holiday throughout our stay. It was truly magical, and I am certain never to be duplicated.

Robin, was kind and helpful throughout the entire process, extended courtesies to help me manage this cross-country trek with a wheelchair bound women. The first-floor bedroom was a God send. I was asked often why would we leave sunny California in December for Plymouth. It was because there is nothing like Plymouth in the winter. First; fewer tourists, more community, beautiful landscapes, (still got my fried clams with bellies thank you), and an authentic Holiday atmosphere. I loved it. I woke like a 10 year old, each morning. I’d jump out of bed pull up the shades and peer out looking for white powder outside. We got a bit of hale, which my daughter dubbed snow pellets, and so we counted it as snow… 

All in all everything from making my reservations, to entry, departure and my stay were perfect. If you are looking at the Carriage House as a possibility for a stay in Plymouth, stop and go no further. This is the place you want to stay. I promise you will be satisfied. I loved it.

Thank you, Robin,…

Pure Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

Words can not begin to express how much my family and I enjoyed our stay in this charming house! We rented the Carriage house for my daughter's wedding. We wanted somewhere beautiful for her to get dressed in, take pictures and have her bridal party surround her for her big day. As soon as we walked in, it felt like HOME!! It was the perfect home in EVERY way! It was warm, inviting, beautiful furnished, immaculate and fully equipped with every detail. I wish there were more stars to rate this property! It is definitely a 5+++ rental!!

Robin, the owner, is awesome to work with. She was very accommodating. She always answered all my questions and returned my calls and emails promptly. I had the pleasure of meeting her and she was as lovely and charming as I expected!

I, of course, HIGHLY recommend this home and would love to return one day soon!
