About Lainy Reicher

I am a Naturapathic Dr. and a Clinical Nutritionist. I believe the body can heal itself. I love to canoe, swim garden and travel. I left brooklyn 35 years ago to live in the catskills. I have never regretted it.

Why Lainy Reicher chose New York

This is a very special place, mountains all around, a year round stream on the edge of the woods. With a large salt water pool. Heated in spring.Across from a state park. Private. If you are looking to get out of the city and enjoy nature but close to everything , great restaurants, hiking boating, nature, music, theater, city vibe but you can still relax in the country. This is the place for a great weekend getaway.

What makes this cottage unique

When we left the city i wanted an old county house with a barn for horses, we wanted water, mountains and to be close to a town we found it. Most of the people we met also left the city behind. The most comforting quality of woodstock is its familiar, with like minded people. You can be who you are. And its only a couple of hours away from the city if i need a fix.

Perfect weekend getaway from NYC

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I arrived with our dog around 10pm on a Friday night and Lainy was waiting for us with a perfectly heated cottage. The cottage is close enough from Lainy's house that if we need anything we can run over, but far enough to ensure complete privacy.

The woods behind are beautiful and perfect for a stroll with your pooch.

Very quick drive to both Phoenicia and Woodstock, and the property is easy to locate on the path.

The skylights located throughout the cottage were a big plus. I loved being able to see the moon overhead in bed.

My husband made really good use of the small desk in the bedroom.

Overall we all had a great time and we will definitely return in the future.

Wonderful and peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a last minute getaway for Labor Day weekend. Lainy got back to us right away.

The place was just as described, with nature all around, hiking trails in the back of the cabin, we walked our dog every day on the trails.

The cabin is comfortable, peaceful and Lainy was very welcoming. She allowed us our privacy but was available if we needed anything.

Will definitely be back.

Beautiful escape

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I loved staying at Lainy's cabin. We spontaneously decided to get out of the city and into the woods and Lainy responded to us very quickly so we could

Make this happen. She made the trip easy, explaining directions clearly and made us feel right at home upon arrival. She was a joy to work with.

My boyfriend and I fell in love with the cabin and so did our cat. The cabin was cozy and comfortable and nestled in the heart of the Catskills. We couldn't ask for a

Better location. It was nestled in the woods, being only a few minutes drive away from great hiking trails, and a few minutes away from the charming and progressive town of Woodstock. We would

Definitely come back!

Peaceful getaway.

  • 5 of 5

We strongly recommend Lainy's house. We stayed a couple of nights in her cozy cottage and would've loved to stay longer.

Perfect location to go explore Phoenicia and Woodstock. Lots of little hikes, and trails around. We went to a waterfall not far after a delicious french toast at Sweet Sue's. Lainy made it so convenient for us to get there -my work made us arrive late and someone was waiting there for us with a smile. The cottage itself is cozy and warm. It's further back from the main house and left us our independence. The land itself is at the foot of a forrest, by the river. Lots of little quiet places, hamacs and tables to relax, or work. Great little spot.

Perfect Anniversary Getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

Wow!! What a beautiful cottage surrounded by nature! The stream was truly a wonder with its terrific sound. We spent a long time sitting on this comfy bench facing the stream, just taking it all in. The cottage helped us decide that we definitely want to retire in a "tiny house." At 700 ft. it was very spacious and welcoming. My wife and I enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. While there was no stove, it did have a microwave, toaster oven, and single burner. I used the coffee maker and Lynda used the hot water maker. The fridge was a good size. The bathroom had a nice heater, so our showers and my bath were very comfortable. The living room was excellent. You could see the nice sized TV from both the comfy couch and yummy chair. I loved sitting on the chair and using one of the stools as my laptop desk. Both cable TV and wireless worked perfectly. The bedroom had a nice little desk and chair, a rocking chair, and bed. The bed was a little hard, but many people enjoy that. The view out the skylight was breathtaking--daytime trees and nighttime stars. My walk into the woods in the back was very healing. I followed the wide path along the stream and took in the pretty colorful trees. We enjoyed the Bear Cafe, Candle and Tea Shop, and Wednesday Farmer's Market in Woodstock and the local supermarket was great for supplies. Our host was so nice and warm and helpful. I will definitely want to return and will let my friends and family know about this gem of a place.

A Perfect Weekend

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I booked a quiet, romantic birthday weekend at this cottage. We travel to the Catskills regularly so we have a great understanding of what to expect and what the options are when staying throughout the area.

Even before arriving, Lainy, the owner, was easy to communicate with. I knew we would get along famously.

The cottage is rustic and set back next to a gurgling stream. Although its a quick walk up the pathway from the main house it certainly feels remote and wonderfully secluded.

Lainy was respectful of our alone time but readily available to discuss the area, things to do and the historical significance of the house and surrounding area. A beautiful soul.

The area was abundant with wildlife. Bald Eagles, Coyote, Deer, Porcupines and Rabbits greeted us wherever we wandered. The cottage backs onto 650 wild and virtually untouched acres. We explored and picnic'd in the outback to great delight.

It was a full moon weekend and we were lulled asleep by the symphony of frogs, crickets and the lonesome but beautiful howl of a Coyote.

The property is located about halfway in between Woodstock and Phoenicia. A short drive in either direction will enable you to enjoy what the towns have to offer. Although there is a small and perfectly functional kitchen in the cottage, there are many great eating spots in the area.

Truly a wonderful experience for us, We would highly recommend a stay here. In fact, I'm sure we will be back!

Thank you for hosting us!
