Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom With Queen Sized Sofa Bed

Hermanor Cottage was built in the 1830's and is a fine example of New Orleans Creole architecture. A beautiful, spacious front porch added in the early 1900's is both a welcoming feature and a wonderful place to sit with a cool drink and watch the quaint neighborhood go by. The location of Hermanor Cottage is both convenient and a bit off the beaten path. We are a few short blocks from the superb music, food and fun on FRENCHMEN STREET and only slightly further from the world-renowned FRENCH QUARTER. If you choose to arrive by car there is adequate parking on the street. The bus is right out front and cabs are readily available.

Our cottage apartment is professionally decorated in the traditional New Orleans style with original art and vintage pieces. The living room is charming and comfortable with a queen sized sofa bed and a 40' HD TV. The front room is furnished with a vintage oak table that can serve as a desk or a dining spot for up to 6 people. The fully furnished ,spacious kitchen has been recently renovated and has all new SS appliances. A round table seats 2 and a decorative fireplace add lots of quaint charm. Pick up some groceries at the nearby co-op and easily prepare a dinner at home. Several times a week MR. OKRA drives his colorful truck through the neighborhood offering fresh fruits and vegetables. His lilting song alerts all to his arrival!

our unique Marigny (pronounced Mare-i-nee) neighborhood has much to offer. Some of our favorite places are MIMI'S IN THE MARIGNY for great, live music, SCHIRO'S for take-out food and CAKE CAFE for fabulous breakfasts. All are just a block or two from the cottage. Several venues for live music are close by on the newly developed ST. CLAUDE corridor and include ALLWAYS LOUNGE, CAFE ISTANBUL, and SIBERIA.

My husband is a concierge and tour reservationist. We live right next door and are always available for fun, creative activity suggestions, restaurant recommendations and general hospitality. We guarantee a good time will be had by all at Hermanor Cottage! New Orleans Short Term Rental Permit # 17STR-05022

About Sara Hauge

My husband and I have been visiting New Orleans for over 20 years. This year we were finally able to fulfill our dream of moving here permanently from Minneapolis. We love the weather and the diversity of the colorful culture. We purchased a double shotgun cottage so we can share our love of this city with family ,friends and you!

Sara Hauge purchased this apartment in 2013

Why Sara Hauge chose Faubourg Marigny

We finally chose to live in the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood because it is so interesting and eclectic and yet close to the French Quarter and the Frenchmen St. excitement.

What makes this apartment unique

Our cottage is unique because it has so many years of history that have not been erased by modern renovations. It is comfortable to modern standards yet maintains it's historic beauty and authenticity.

Car: not necessary

The Faubourg Marigny is a quaint, historic neighborhood just adjacent to the French Quarter. Once named the hippest neighborhood in the US by Travel and Leisure magazine the neighborhood is at once bohemian and traditional. Many unique privately owned bars and restaurants abound. Walkability is fabulous and the people are friendly. The historic nature of the area is a treasure to those interested in the architecture of the last 200 or so years.

Beautiful Marigny cottage

  • 5 of 5

We highly recommend this beautiful cottage in the Marigny. The location is great; within walking distance to Frenchmen Street and the French Quarter, but far enough away to enjoy a quiet afternoon. The cottage is beautifully decorated and has everything needed for a lovely stay in New Orleans.

Kind, helpful hosts; charming property.

  • 5 of 5

We would certainly stay at Sara's cottage again! The suite is charming, spotless, and artfully decorated. We especially appreciated relaxing on the front porch and back terrace. Due to flight issues, we came in much later than expected, but Sara was gracious and welcoming. The space feels grown-up but not stuffy. The area is walk-friendly, and close to Frenchman St, without being right in the middle of it all. My only suggestion would be for a few more basic kitchen items, especially: olive oil, coffee beans (for the first cup of the day), and a teapot. But all in all, we were quite happy. Thank you!

Accomodations were all the way around perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was for 5 nights, my husband and I were very comfortable. The cottage has everything you can ask for. The kitchen is fully stocked with every dish you could think of all very clean. There are plenty of bath towels for the bathroom. The bed is very comfortable. The sofa in the living room is a pull out couch although we didn't use the pull out the couch was very comfortable for lounging and watching TV. The location is perfect. Located in an area where there is a lot of history but the perfect distance from the hustle and bustle of Bourbon St and the French Quarter. Within walking distance are few places to stop in and enjoy a bite to eat even in the late hours. We didn't need to rent a car when we didn't want to walk we uber'd everywhere and was only about 5 to 6 bucks to get to the French Quarter or Bourbon street. Tom and Sara the owners are very kind and nice really hospitable. Tom helped us book our local tour through the City and the Swamp tour, now that was really convenient he took care of it all for us we didn't need to go anywhere or wonder around to book these great tours. Our stay was absolutely great with no complaints. Thank you Tom and Sara!!

Beautiful and comfortable stay!

  • 5 of 5

This place was beautiful and so cozy. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and had such a great time here. Tom is a concierge so he recommended some great places to go and helped book a tour for us of the city. The area is really quiet and felt very safe and that was a big factor for us. It is within walking distance of Frenchmen street and all the great music. We even had to stay a night in because the city had a curfew because of a possible hurricane but they had everything we needed to cook some food and make sure we were safe. If we ever come back to New Orleans we would definitely stay here and completely recommend it.
