One mile high, your destination awaits. Enter the elevator in the lobby and ascend to the seventh floor. Walk no more than twenty steps to your condominium on the seventh floor.
We purchased this condominium primarily for our family, and immediately set about updating and adding furnishings, appliances and decorative touches that we - and you will enjoy.
Immediately as you walk in, you are overcome with the view of Sugar Mountain and beyond. Whether from the patio, or through the windows throughout the unit, the outdoor scenes are breathtaking.
In our spacious kitchen, enjoy our expresso machine, waffle maker and fully equipped baking and cooking equipment.
From the Italian tile floors to the completely modern kitchen, you will immediately feel comfortable and relaxed in this pristine unit.
In the two bedroom two bath unit, the master bedroom has a extremely comfortable queen bed and a brand-new flat screen TV has just be installed.
The second bedroom has a queen sized bed. There is a flat screen TV and DVD player also in the room.
The living room has a wood burning fireplace, with a flat screen TV and over 60 channels to choose from. Lots of books and games are also available for those group activities.
A new, very comfortable queen sized sleeper sofa with inner spring mattress and memory foam is provided.
My wife and I stayed at Sugartop last year, fell in love with the location and amenities, and wanted to make it our special get-away. Our family of six always seems to have something to do here - ironically, we also enjoy just relaxing
Loida Mather purchased this condo in 2013
Each season here has a charm unlike many other places we have visited. The winter skiing and sledding, the spring festivals, the packed summer of hiking and rafting, and all the special events throughout the year make it hard to decide when to visit.
The amenities here at Sugartop allow a us to work out, take a dip in the pool, finish in the spa, then relax on our patio with some of the most amazing views, especially at sunset.
Our family enjoys motorcycling, horseback riding, boating, hiking and skiing. We feel that no other place exists in the Carolinas better able to serve the needs of our family than right here in the Banner Elk area.
Loved it. Very nice place. Kids loved the pool. Great location for tubing, skiing. Owners easy to work with.
We enjoyed the space that the condo gave 2 families and the ability to have meals in. The kids REALLY enjoyed the pool and we had a great time. My only recommendation would be a few more hand towels and wash clothes. Other than that, we found the condo had everything that we needed for a wonderful weekend.
We enjoyed our stay here & would stay again! You can see the ski slope from the balcony & it is just a short drive to the ski resort. This is an affordable, clean, updated place! I would recommend bringing your own towels/wash cloths if you are going to stay more than a few nights unless you want to do laudary. Thank you to the owners for the awesome place!!
The unit was beautifully done. It states that it sleeps 7, I would say that it only sleeps 6 and the pull out sofa mattress is in poor shape and needs to be replaced. The kitchen is lacking some items for cooking such as baking sheets, spatulas (there was only 1 in good shape) and only 1 decent size skillet.Plenty of plates and cups available. The water heater is exactly as described in the check-in letter, very limited on hot water. Have to wait approximately 2 hours between showers and definitely don't try to shower with dishwasher running. The parking and shuttle were not quite as described. I was told that there was a shuttle that took you down to base of mountain, but really the shuttle just takes you to lower parking lot, where the guests of the building have to park. There was plenty of closer parker by the condo, but we were not allowed to use it until day 4 of our stay. I was also told there was places to store ski equipment, but was not told that it costs per day to store equipment. A resort on the top of the mountain should have this amenity as part of the lodging fee. Also the day we were leaving we finally received snow, since we are from Florida, where it doesn't snow we do not own a ice scraper. We simply wanted to borrow one from the desk to clean windows prior to leaving and then return it. Instead they sold us one. Not that it was expensive, but I do not need to own one. Also there are not towels available in the pool area, so with that being said there are not enough towels in the unit for showering as well as using at pool. It may seem that I was not happy with the unit, but really just wanted to point out a few tips for things that could be improved upon. Overall we loved the unit and had a great stay there other than the weather not perfect for skiing.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay! I had an issue with one of my sons class schedules and the owner let me do a last minute change with no trouble what so ever. We will be back for sure.
Located just 10 minutes from Banner Elk, 15 minutes to Grandfather mountain, and 30 minutes to Blowing Rock, Sugartop is the perfect launching point for your mountain adventures.
Nearby winter activities include ice skating, skiing and snowboarding at Beech, Sugar and Appalachian resorts, snow tubing at the longest run in the South, or just finding your own hill with your flying saucer.
The springtime bursts upon the scene in April, with engorged streams cascading down multiple waterfalls, including the beautiful Linville Falls, just off the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway. Hiking trails abound, for the day hiker as well as the rock climber.
Summer brings a welcome escape from the heat for many visitors, as the mile high elevation provides a cool respite. Streams and rivers create an exciting opportunity for white water rafting or more sedate tubing in beautiful natural settings.
In the fall, the area is painted with the most intensive hues, whether seen from your car, the pathways, or just from your balcony. This is considered by many to be the best time in the Western Carolina mountains.
