The house is a short walk to Hanalei Bay and Hanalei town. We really enjoyed the comfort and convenience of this home. The house worked well for my husband and I and our two 20-something daughters.

Thanks so much, hoping to have your family back again soon!
We had a great family vacation in Hanalei! Staying in Hanalei is so much better than staying in a resort. The vibe is very relaxed and laid back. This home is in the perfect location-walking distance to the beach and town. Clark was very responsive and on top of things. Mahalo and hang loose!
Family of 4 with 2 adult children. Walked everywhere in Hanalei from the beach to town. House had everything we needed. Loved the view from the deck. Recommend highly!
This little house was perfect for our week in Hanalei. It's a short walk to the beach and to town. The house had everything you need - well-stocked kitchen, beach towels and toys (though no handle on the wagon and the umbrella was broken), comfortable beds, outside shower. Construction in the back was sporadic and didn't really affect us. Highly recommend this place!

A Perfect Stay in one of the Most Beautiful Places in the World!
What a wonderful place, a sweet little spot with everything you need and a quick walk to one of the loveliest beaches on the islands. Not to mention town, which has amazing shops, delicious restaurants, a Big Save and a health food store! The 7 nights we stayed was not enough, we will be back! Thank you Clark for being there when we needed you!! Mahalo Jen and Gabe

Pure bliss!
We were looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation in a beautiful setting, and we definitely got that from staying at Hale Lu Ya. The house is in a very quiet neighbourhood, that was a 5 minute walk to the beach, and a 10 minute walk to the local town. This property was extremely well maintained, and the kitchen had all the things you would possibly need during the stay, and they were all high quality and in excellent working order.
When we needed to contact Clark with questions, he was very quick to respond, and was always friendly and professional. We would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend it to friends and family.

Tim, thanks so much, looking forward to having you back!
Perfect spot to unwind with out two kiddos (2 years and 8 months). Place needs a bunch of updates (new oven, new dishwasher, new curtains that don’t fall when you touch), espresso machine, measuring cups in kitchen, more then one key!!!). Noise from neighbors is LOUD. Like you hear them all day, when their baby wakes in the middle of the night, their dinners, everything. But outdoor shower is bliss and the beach was perfect.

Lara, thank you for staying with us and thank you for five stars. The appliances here are all up to date and working well but as for the dishwasher, we do need our guests to use dishwasher pods or powder as opposed to liquid dish soap or there will be problems with sudsing, flooding etc. We did not promote an espresso machine but we do have a coffee maker and measuring cups etc in a well equipped kitchen. If there was a problem with curtains or anything else like that we are glad to get someone out to do a repair if we are notified. This is an area of full time residents with houses and lots that are typically spaced like most American suburbs so you may hear some of our neighbors as you are likely to hear them in any suburban neighborhood. We appreciate your input.

Close to the beach and mostly well maintained
The property was a short sweet walk to the beach and to the town of Hanalei. Mostly, it was beautiful and clearly had recently been updated. We had issues with the shower, particularly the hot water and the faucet for it, which was broken. We called maintenance and they showed up right away but were very very casual and told us we'd have to "live with it" during our stay. Thankfully, it's Hawaii and we were able to deal more or less with the cold water showers. But if hot showers are important to you, make sure it's fixed before you go. Other than that, it was a sweet well-stocked property, with a great kitchen, comfortable beds, and beautiful surroundings.

Christina, thank you for your input. We are sorry about the hot water problem during your stay. The problem was related to the recent remodeling of the kitchen. We tried to get it fixed as quickly as possible but had to wait for the delivery of a part from the mainland which can take much longer than we like. The problem has been fixed since your stay. We hope to have you back again soon.

Does Not Look Anything Like Pictures!
Very average stay, screen door always came off when it was opened, fan broken, floors not clean and main bathroom not cleaned well. VERY dark inside with dark walls, most utensils did not work and had to purchase a can opener. Basic items are severly run down, even kitchen plates needed washing before used. I will not come back and stay here nor would we recommend this place.

We are sorry if there were some minor maintenance issues at this house during your stay but wish that you had contacted us immediately about them instead of letting us know about them after your stay. We would have been glad to take care of them all and if there was something our housekeepers missed, they would have come back in a minute to take care of the job. Most of our guests are delighted with this house, find it especially clean on their arrival and know that it lacks for nothing in terms of the comforts and amenities of their own homes, and that is why we get the same guests year after year. The owners stay at their properties a few times a year and make sure that all items are in good shape and working order and will replace them when they have to. They do not skimp. Both our housekeeper and our contractor live in Hanalei and if we had been made aware of the screen door and the fan, they would have taken care of those issues right away and with a smile. We were all surprised to get a negative response like this, the only one in the nine years I have been managing this property. We wish you a happier experience on your next vacation.
This property checks all the boxes. The house is very clean and the proximity to the beach is perfect. The kitchen had every single thing you could need to cook and serve. The beds were very comfortable and the shower had great water pressure.
The property manager checked in to make sure we had everything we needed upon our arrival.
We will definitely be returning to this property!
Great stay! House was well stocked, .5 mile walk to beach (and super close the beach entrance), we would stay here again. Travelled with my husband and 1 year old daughter. House also had a lot of baby gear!
We were extremely satisfied with communication with and responsiveness from owner/host and housekeeper, amenities of and supplies within home, and location to town and beach.
This property is a great option for a family of four or two couples. The owner was super responsive, the house was immaculate, it's a 5 minute walk to the beach or to town, the kitchen is better stocked than ours, and the views from the lanai were a highlight of our trip. Throw in other touches like beach towels, decor, and strong ventilation that keeps the house relatively cool, and you've got a great stay. My only possible concern is how close it is to the neighbors (which seems the case for many properties). We had no issues at all, but I did wonder what would happen if our neighbors ended up being loud. I would definitely stay here again!
In addition to my work as a writer, I am the manager or owner of several beautiful vacation rentals in Kauai, Los Angeles and Palm Springs, California.
Why they chose this property
Hale Lu Ya is in Hanalei on the lush North Shore of Kauai, one of the world's most beautiful settings. The owners bought this house because of its proximity to town as well as the Crescent Beach, ranked as one of the world's best beaches by National Geographic Traveler.
