About Janet Soliman

Growing up in Seattle I always dreamed of beaches, tropical scenery and warm days and star filled warm nights. I have traveled to many of these types of places but feel that the north shore of Kauai is the most beautiful I've seen. When I'm at our condo the beauty and serenity make me truly feel like I'm in paradise.

Janet Soliman purchased this condo in 2013

Why Janet Soliman chose Princeville

I absolutely loved the views of the Ocean, Bali Hai and the mountains with majestic waterfalls....I felt I could not find a more beautiful setting and loved the modern, open floor plan with large lanais for eating and entertaining.

What makes this condo unique

Location, location, location! This unit and the complex has it all! There are not many ocean front condos on the north shore...and this one is tops them all!

Excellent location. Stunning sunsets.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 2 weeks and enjoyed every moment. The spacious lanai was perfect for grilling and chilling. The stunning sunsets from the lanai were priceless. The condo was very comfortable and stylishly decorated. The kitchen had everything you needed. Snorkel gear, beach chairs, boogie boards and ice chest were very handy. Definitely would stay here again.

Very well appointed and immaculate condo with a beautiful view. We saw whales from the living room! Lots of space, the pictures do not do it justice. Thank you!

Lovely Condo. But, the ground floor unit is 3 levels of stairs DOWN from the street level.

  • 3 of 5

This condo is lovely. What did not work for me is the location in the complex.

It is on the ground floor...BUT the ground floor is 3 flights of stairs DOWN from the

parking lot and the entrance to the building. I chose a ground floor unit so I did not have to take stairs. If you have trouble with stairs do not rent this unit. Also, there are one and two step levels throughout the condo.

Owner's Response: The description of what is entailed in the complex is included the icon section. Most condos in Kauai do not have elevators and they entail stairs....what I don't understand is why if you have trouble with stairs you did not enquirer about that. I have had many people who can't do stairs and they walk around the pool area and on to the grass and therefore THERE ARE NO STAIRS INVOLVED. I could have told you that but I didn't know you had that problem. BOTTOM LINE WE SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN A LOW STAR RATING FOR THE LAYOUT OF A COMPLEX I DID NOT DESIGN....YOU DID NOT INQUIRE AS YOU SHOULD HAVE AND YOU COULD HAVE HAD NO STAIRS BY WALKING AROUND THE BUILDING BUT YOU DIDN'T ASK!

Gorgeous condo with spectacular ocean views and elegant interior.

  • 5 of 5

We love this condo. The open floor plan and high end furnishings provide a spacious and luxurious feeling. The kitchen is large and open with high-end appliances, and all the cookware and dinnerware you would need. Spices and condiments are minimal, so you will want to stock up on those.

Don’t worry about reviews complaining about no AC: There are several portable and ceiling fans, along with a dehumidifier in the master bedroom. Leaving the sliding doors open at night and opening the smaller windows at the back of the condo allows for nice cooling. No worries about security either as there is no foot traffic outside—we only saw a handful of people walk by during our entire week here (who were staying in nearby units). There’s no other public access.

The photos don’t do justice to how nice the condo is. Being in the ground floor means you don’t have an open air lanai (patio), you have a covered outdoor patio instead (see photos with BBQ grill and orange sectional). We actually preferred this to the upper units with lanais: When the occasional rains come we can stay on the patio and be sheltered, yet still be outside. We love to read and hang out, so this was perfect for us: Being outdoors yet protected from rain.

Hideaways Beach is indeed a challenge to get down to, but worth it for the adventurous vacationer. However, the St. Regis is right next door and you have an easy 10 minute walk to the (public) Puu Poa beach its guests use. The condo has beach chairs, tons of snorkeling gear, a cooler, rice mats, noodles and 4 beach towels. (The St. Regis also has a great brunch ($39) if you want to be pampered and have great ocean views—it’s literally a 2 minute walk from condo.)

We bought groceries at the Safeway in Kapaa on our way in from the airport. But we found the prices at the Foodland in Princeville were about the same as Safeway, but with a slightly more limited selection. I recommend buying things you know you’ll want at the Kapaa Safeway, but know that you can always get good produce, fish, meat, etc. at Foodland (don’t miss the fresh Poke made daily at Foodland).

Chicken in a Barrel in nearby Hanalei (10 min drive) has great BBQ for a reasonable price. The Bistro in nearby Kilauea has great food/drinks at good prices, a bit more upscale but very relaxed and friendly, with live music Thursday and Saturday nights.

We can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Kauai but Puu Poa, and specifically this condo. We can’t recommend it enough.

Great location!

  • 4 of 5

The location of this condo was the best. We were able to walk to the St Regis for sunset cocktails and drive the short distance to Hanalei for shopping and dining. The set up was perfect for 2 couples. The kitchen was well-stocked and we took full advantage of the beach gear. It was nice being right above Hideaways beach - although the repel down to the beach was tricky. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because of no air conditioning. Because this is a ground floor unit, we didn't feel comfortable leaving windows and doors open at night to keep the air circulation going. It got pretty hot at night. The owners have many fans stocked in the place, which was helpful.
