About Patrice Machikas

Hi - we are Patrice and George and we welcome you to our home. We reside in the Philadelphia area but Frisco is our home away from home to us, our 4 daughters and 2 son-in-laws. Although we are considerably closer to the New Jersey shore beaches we grew tired of the relentless crowds, jammed beaches and commercialism there and found our way to the OBX. Once we researched an OBX vacation many years ago we knew that Hatteras Island was the place for us. Our daughters fell in love with Frisco and we have all been coming here ever since.

Patrice Machikas purchased this house in 2007

Why Patrice Machikas chose Frisco

We decided to look into buying for our 25th wedding anniversary. After two long days of viewing numerous properties for sale it was easy to decide on buying this house. It had it all - location, affordability and a warm family feel.

Will be back!

  • 5 of 5

Seas the Day was perfect for our group of 10 that was in town to fish. No complaints about the property and the owner was very helpful prior to our visit. The property is very close to Frisco Rod and Gun, the old Frisco pier, the air strip, and several ORV beach accesses. Thanks again!

Nice house, good location

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Seas the Day. The house was perfect for us (2 couples) and has plenty of room for kids, too.. It was clean and comfortable, with nice beachy touches in the decor. The beds were really comfortable and we all had a good night's sleep. It was an easy walk to the beach. There were restaurants nearby and a pizza place that delivers. The owner gave us a great list of restaurant recommendations and good places for fishing. The nearby beach was churned up too much for swimming with the passage of Hurricane Jose, but it was great for beach walking. We enjoyed our stay.

Great place to relax

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed the privacy of the master suite when we wanted to be away from our daughter and grandsons. The beach is very close and Pamlico Sound is right across the street. You can sit on the ample deck for morning coffee, meals and great sunsets. They also had their personal space. Close to Ocracoke, recommend renting a golf cart to drive around and great food at Jason's restaurant. The Native American Museum, right up the street doesn't look like much from the street but has a treasure trove of artifacts. One grandson loved the First Flight Adventure Park in Nags Head and climbed the "ropes course".

Perfectly relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Our week's stay at Seas the Day on Hatteras was great for a number of reasons. One, the house is charming and comfortable. We really felt at home. Two, it's a great value. Three, I'm convinced that Frisco -- particularly this narrow section -- is the best location on Hatteras: Convenient to Hatteras Village and the Ocracoke ferry, uncrowded beaches, close to the lighthouse and the Cape, and just a short drive to restaurants in Avon. We hope we can get back there again.

Amazing sunset view!

  • 3 of 5

This house was excellent size for my family and another family of 6 that went with us. The house has great views of the sound and you can see parts the ocean at a distance. The outdoor shower is definitely a plus!

We did have a few issues prior to our stay and during our stay. The rental viewing showed linens and towels were provided, however they are NOT. The owner help out with a small portion of that due to the inconvience. Also, upon arrival the doors were all unlocked and the dryer was incredibly molded - looked like it had never been cleaned. Ever. And last but not least, we came across some unwanted visitors one evening. The owner sent someone out to spray very quickly though! Which we were thankful for.

Overall, we had a great time. Only a short walk to the beach. And again amazing view of the sunset on the sound in the evenings!

Owner's Response: Again - I apologize for the online error on the VRBO app stating linens were included. As I had explained my actual VRBO page stated that linens could be provided at an additional fee. The app did not provide the additional information. I had hoped that offering to pay 1/3 of the total $114 cost of rental linens was fair given that 2 families totaling 10 people were staying at our home. That was $38 each for me, your family and the other family. As for the home home being unlocked that was a fluke oversight on the part of the cleaning crew. If you had felt unsafe entering I wish you had contacted me. I certainly would have sent my local property manager to walk thru the house before you entered. Thank you for choosing Seas The Day

If you are returning to Hatteras Island to vacation you know it is a beautiful unique beach getaway. If you are looking into HI for the first time I urge you to come - you'll want to return as often as possible. Pristine white beaches abound with a rare non commercial island flair!! Locals sell beautiful handmade wares and family owned restaurants serve delicious fare specializing in daily catch dishes as well as traditional menu items.

So much to do - so little time. Enjoy trying deep sea fishing from one of the many great charters available. Walk along the beautiful marinas with an ice cream and watch the charters return at the end of the day. Soak up rays on the beach and in the warm OBX ocean water with frequent dolphin sightings, parasail and jet ski, go horseback riding on the beach, take kite boarding lessons, drive dune buggies on the beach and end the day with old or new friends around a beach bonfire.

Once you do all of that enjoy a plane ride up and down the coast viewing lighthouses and sea life. Climb to the top of the Buxton lighthouse for awesome views and learn about it's great history. From there go to the free Graveyard of the Atlantic museum in Hatteras Village or hop the free Ocracoke Ferry to historic and primitive Ocracoke Island.
