About the property

Chalet, 1 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, Sleeps 4

This charming loft is part of the Alpine Chalets community, up on the bluff overlooking the ocean and picturesque Beverly Beach. Come visit this Otter Rock vacation home to spend days beachcombing, walking in the surf, or exploring the tide pools at nearby Devils Punch Bowl State Park. This Alpine Chalet is perfect for a family getaway with kids and dogs, or even a romantic trip for two!

Tall ceilings, wood paneled walls, and a large picture window greet you when you enter your cozy beach getaway. A sleeper sofa and plush easy chairs offer comfortable spots for relaxing after a day trip to the Oregon Coast Aquarium in nearby Newport or a day walking the long sandy beach just steps from your door.

There's a TV with cable and a DVD player for watching movies or a marathon of your favorite shows, as well as WiFi so you can check emails or research places for dinner. From the large picture window, you'll have a nice view of the ocean and a prime spot for observing dramatic winter storms.

The open floor plan downstairs includes a dining table and full kitchen for fixing meals and snacks. While you're out and about, pick up some crab at Local Ocean's seafood market in Newport (only eight miles away), come back to your Otter Rock chalet, and fix up some killer crab cakes for dinner. You'll find all the appliances you need for preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as snacks. And if you end up with a sink-full of dishes at the end of the night, you can always let them soak while you walk down and check out the sunset from the beach.

After a full day of exploring Otter Rock and other close by coastal towns, the bedroom is located right off the kitchen and has a comfortable queen sized bed, wall-mounted reading lamps, and plenty of room for storage. A full bathroom with a shower/tub combo is just off the bedroom.

The loft upstairs, besides providing a nice bird's eye view of the lower level, has an additional queen bed, making this chalet ideal for up to four guests. In addition, this spot is also dog-friendly. Bring your dogs, though a nightly fee per dog and a minimum fee per stay will apply.

This quiet, relaxing, Central Oregon Coast community of ocean-view chalets is a perfect retreat to the beach! Come stay at this Otter Rock vacation rental in the summer to play on the sand, or in winter to experience powerful storms - you can even do some whale watching in the winter and spring!

About Vacasa of Oregon Coast

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Don’t do it!!!

 • 1 of 5

Place is run down, shabby old stained furniture/carpets and so not worth the money!! Very uncomfortable beds with threadbare sheets/comforters and no mattress pads.
We arrived the first evening to find broken blinds and called to report it. Ashley was unable to reach local manager, Becca, but assured me that she would be in touch first thing in the morning(By 9-9:30). She suggested I throw a blanket over the window since I wasn’t feeling comfortable with my young daughter and I staying there.
I waited until 10:30 and called again. The person I spoke with said that Becca had referred it to head housekeeper, Rose, and that someone would be in touch with me ASAP. In the meantime we also noted the shower curtain had mold/orange staff on it and requested a new one.(it was disgusting!)
12:30 another call and was told they would be getting in touch with me soon.
Finally as I was on the phone, yet again calling, Trevor, showed up to measure for the blinds. He was actually kind and also measured for the shower curtain and said would be back to install all.
We left for the afternoon and came back to new blinds, but no shower curtain. Trevor called to follow up and said he forgot it, but would have the cleaning fee credited back to card and provide 15% discount on next stay(no way, no how!!).
I asked to be moved to another property, but they didn’t have any options, the cancellation policy is that I would’ve lost all of my money($495 for 3 nights!) so I was between rock and hard place.
My daughter noted that it looked as though we had the worse ‘chalet’ among the 11, so maybe others besides #9 would be okay...but I would t want to gamble on that. It’s too bad because the location is great and the spot seems to have a lot of potential.
Cozy but shabby

 • 3 of 5

The chalet was comfortable but needed new Venetian blinds (the middle one sagged on one side and did not close), more dishes in the kitchen (one tall glass & 3 coffee cups plus mismatched dishes), and the bathroom sink did not drain. Would I come back? yes but would hope the place was not as shabby. Very comfortable otherwise.

Great Spot

 • 3 of 5

Overall this Alpine Chalet is great in that its a chalet near the shore and what's better than that? I enjoyed my wk very much. This unit however needs at the very least some basic upgrades like yesterday. Even just new bedspreads and cute pillows from HomeGoods would be a super-cheap upgrade to start. How could anyone neglect their Alpine Chalet when they're just the cutest tiny houses to own and should always be very well maintained. A sense of pride and care is lacking in this unit. It's too bad.

1st the owners need to spend a few $$ and upgrade the appliances, fridge either wasn't cold or froze

 • 2 of 5

The oven ,well you better know where broil is cuz there are 2 marks on dial (go check it out and you'll understand)

The bathroom sink backs up and the toilet leaks. There is a spring sticking out of the left side of the couch, you can't see it but you sure as hell can feel it .!!!! Absolutely lacking in kitchen wear serving pieces ect . the virtual tour makes the place look larger than it is. The burners on the stove pop when you are cooking , so don't leave a pan unattended , making omlets and pancakes was a hoot (burnt on one end raw/doughy on the other. I had to hold the pan to cook them evenly ) the blinds were broken, hard time getting them up or down. Thought about calling you but remembered this was the only unit these owners had and didn't need owners remodeling during our vacation.

Very dissatisfied, 2/5 stars only because the bed was comfy.
