Overview

About the property

Tastefully designed newly upgraded end unit with partial ocean views!

Tastefully designed and newly upgraded reflecting quality and comfort, this top floor cozy condo is nestled among the tropical treetops, with private lanai and peek-a-boo views of the ocean. My wife and I affectionately call our unit #322 the Kona Dove. It is, in our opinion, one of the more desirable units in the Kona Islander Inn complex; ours is a top-floor unit, away from the traffic noise of Alii drive and Kuakini Highway, but close enough to hear soothing surf sounds at night. Our west-and-south facing lanai has an extra-expansive and open view since our unit is also a corner unit. And my wife Therese is an artist and designer- we keep our unit lovely and clean inside!

Kona Islander Inn studio condo description

• one comfy Queen-size bed.

• Fully equipped kitchenette with brand new microwave, mini refrigerator, coffee maker, blender, electric skillet, cutting boards, dishware, serve-ware and utensils.

• A quality 40” inch flat screen TV with remote and free cable. High speed internet available in reception/lobby area.

• Cozy upgraded bathroom with new modular shower and chrome fixtures with pocket door off of kitchen for privacy, hair dyer and extra towels.

Right where you want to be

  • 5 of 5

This is a very conveniently located condo for staying in Kona. You can walk the whole main strip from this location. It was clean and well stocked with anything you might need. Great location and great view.

Cozy corner unit with a nice view

  • 4 of 5

I stayed here for a couple nights in Kona before going to Kauai, and it was great place! The place is exactly as advertised, no surprises. It is a great corner unit, that is pretty private, and the lanai has a great view. I was lucky enough to catch an amazing sunset on my last night there. Bed is comfortable, and all of the furnishings are really nice. Dave will communicate with you right away. He is super friendly, and had lots of great advice for staying in Kona!

Cozy Kona digs

  • 4 of 5

We have stayed numerous times at the Kona Islander Inn. This apartment was definitely one of the better units. At 70 years old we kind of wish it wasn't on the third floor....but still enjoyed it. The decor was very pleasant....some very tasteful art pieces. The bed was comfortable which is a real treat at a vrbo. The lanai was screened for more privacy and that was nice also. There was a bit of a problem with the sliding door to the patio....it seemed to be out of the track. My husband fixed the immediate problem but I think the tracks may need to be replaced. Rust is an ongoing issue in the islands. Another ongoing issue in the island is bugs. We understand that and were vigilant about removing the garbage daily....but still...tiny little bugs....they don't bite, they are just annoying. Considering we were staying 2 full weeks, we would have like to have seen more toilet paper (2 rolls for 2 people for 2 weeks). We also would have like some paper towels, a scrubby to wash dishes and a few more garbage bags. Those were all items we needed to purchase. Of course the location is what brings us back to the Islander, smack dab in the middle of town but the parking is quite limited. All in all...two thumbs up and we would return and recommend this unit.

Owner's Response: Thank you the two thumbs up! You are absolutely right about the TP and other paper supplies, from now on I will ask our cleaning person to leave more for longer stays! Thank you! The lack of scrubby seems to be an oversight. And all of your concerns are our concerns too, we will work to improve!

Basic Accomodation

  • 3 of 5

Convenient location for Kona activities but very basis accommodation. Unit was quiet, relatively clean, AC, fan, firm but comfortable bed and the unit being on the end of the building was more private. Parking was difficult and we had to park on the street and in an adjacent unsecured parking lot both nights. The kitchen/bath room sink and counter are a bit of a challenge. There were no hand towels, paper towels or napkins provided. The kitchen is really not very functional for any real cooking. The sliding glass door was difficult to slide and kept coming off of it's track. There were small ants in the kitchen and bathroom.

Enjoyable 3 days in Kona

  • 5 of 5

Was the perfect location. We did not rent a car and everything was walkable. Very clean and neat and great for a three day stay in Kona.Only a block from the ocean and can sit on the deck and hear the waves splashing against the shore.

Kailua-Kona has the sunshine! The weather on this side of the Big Island can best be described as eternal springtime. Quite simply, it's almost always warm and wonderful. Kona has the calmest, clearest water in the state. This side also has the best beaches on the island, with some, such as Hapuna, consistently rated in the top five in the United States. All this adds up to a traveler's delight, one of the reasons that the Kona side has such a high visitor repeat ratio. Our personal favorite local activities in the area include snorkeling, Farmer's Market, local shopping, Kahaluu Beach Park, Kealakekua Bay, (Captain Cook Monument), Place of Refuge, Kua Bay, whale and dolphin watching, and Kona coffee tasting at local mills.
