About the property

The best spot for viewing fireworks in the comfort of the front yard.

This newly remodeled 3 bedroom, 1 and 1/2 bath 2 story home sits nestled in the perfect spot. The home is surrounded by sand dunes, nature preserve, water, and a marina. It's just a short three minute walk to a private white sandy Lake Michigan beach. Beach is part of homeowner association. It is located next to the North Grand Haven Pier. The perfect spot for having cocktails while sitting on your private beach watching the boats go up and down the Channel and out to the big lake. This big beautiful beach has wonderful sand that actually makes a whistling sound when you walk through it. This is an amazing spot to watch the stunning sunsets. Please view the pictures on here. Take a stroll along miles of Lake Michigan shoreline. The North pier is just steps away from the beach where you can try your luck at fishing. Perfect sand for making sand castles and great waves for playing in. This is the perfect place to relax and not fight the big crowds for a spot on the public beach or walking miles from your car after paying to park. If you chose to drive 20 seconds to the beach; there is plenty of free parking at the fishing parking lot next to the pier and our beach. There are private property beach signs so the public does not use this beach. This home sits on the largest lot on North Shore Dr. It has a large front yard that is the ultimate spot for viewing the firework show on the Fourth Of July and Coast Guard Festival. There are usually over a hundred thousand people each year in Grand Haven to view this spectacular show. You do not need to fight the crowds. Just sit back in the comfort of your chair. Sit out on the back deck and drink your morning coffee while hearing the sounds of birds, water, and boats. You may even view a deer or two in the beach grass or the front yard. There are so many things to do around Grand Haven and Muskegon. There are many great golf courses, miniature golf courses, restaurants, entertainment, festivals, arts and antiquing.

There is a wonderful theme /water park about 25 miles away. Michigan Adventure is owned and operated by Cedar Point. It has many roller coasters and rides and a big water park. It is a very clean and maintained park.

Children and adults love it, because there aren't long waits for rides. It is also affordable for a family. There are historical places to visit, plenty of shopping in quaint local stores or even a major shopping mall. Grand Haven is also known for it's Charter Fishing. Relax on the beautiful white sandy beach and take a leisurely stroll down the beach, or sight see and enjoy all that this area has to offer. We want you to build sandcastles and wonderful memories.

About Karen Dedert

My name is Karen, and I own this home with my three other siblings. We grew up in this area and we absolutely love it. Our parents owned this house, but our mother recently passed away and we inherited it. We did not want to sell because we have so many great memories here enjoying the beach and lake with our families. I have two wonderful boys and they love coming out here to swim, play on the beach, and hike the dune preserves next to the house. There is no way we could duplicate this spot. It is magical for all of us. We want to share it with you so you can make amazing memories here.

Karen Dedert purchased this house in 1988

Why Karen Dedert chose West Central

Once you arrive here, you will see how pretty the location is. the home is surrounded by sand dunes, beach grass, water, and wildlife. The private beach has breathtaking views of the light houses, piers, channel, and Lake Michigan. There is so much to see and discover here.

What makes this house unique

This place is the perfect spot to watch the firework shows for the annual Coast Guard Festival and the Fourth of July.

The beach is also perfect for relaxing or taking a stroll to see the boats. This is the way you should experience Grand Haven's beauty.

Cozy, comfortable cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful family reunion here! We have rented this property in the past and have many happy memories here. We love the peace and quiet on the North Shore. Make sure to go hiking in the Kitchel-Lindquist Dunes Preserve by the marina! The house itself has all the amenities you could want for a relaxing summer break. One thing to note for the summer of 2017: there was some beach erosion over the winter and the lake level is very high this summer, so North Shore beach is not as wide as it usually is. We still had fun in the water, but it was a bit of a surprise!

Owner's Response: We are happy you had a great stay. Thank you so much for choosing our home again. The beach has gotten smaller because of the water levels, but North Beach Park down the road has plenty of beach space and covered pavilion. I am still happy you enjoyed your time. Thank you for the nice review.

Just ok

  • 1 of 5

The house was nice, very accommodating, but dirty with bugs, cob webs and so on. We had a good time but the ants, spiders and other crawly things were too much, the house needed debugging and a deep cleaning. The ticks were bad outside and they came in on us from time to time. The beach needed to be maintained better.

Owner's Response: Hi Sandy, We always welcome reviews. I am sorry that you felt this way and we are always here day or night to make things better. I was there when you arrived and you saw me changing the bedding and finishing up the cleaning. My sister was there from 10 to 3 cleaning the kitchen, refrigerator, and the stove thoroughly. We also disinfect our counters, bathrooms, and door handles, along with the telephone and remote controls. Sheets are pulled from every bed along with comforters and they are all changed out with clean linens. Carpets and floors are all vacuumed and everything dusted. We even get cob webs when we see them. None of my tenants complained of bugs. I saw an ant in the upstairs bathroom so I put out a trap. We live by the lake so there are going to be spiders, but we did not see one while cleaning. You also brought your large dog without asking and I did not charge you. I know that my dogs bring in sand and dirt when they stay at our cottage up North. Also leaving the door open will bring in bugs. I will go overboard to help my renters have a pleasant stay. When we have big storms like the one you experienced; it brings in a lot of things from the lake up on the beach. This is my first one star and I know how clean the house was when I left it. Dogs do bring in flees and ticks, and so I hope you don't lie to other renters about your dog next time. We have rented VRBO homes for years and we are honest with the owners.

Great home for a getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

Karen made our stay so wonderful starting with homemade cinnamon rolls! The home is adorable and the attention to detail was amazing. Karen provides you everything you need to enjoy your stay here. All beds were very comfortable. The deck on the back was relaxing and the quick walk to Lake Michigan was easy. It was great to be able to sit on the private beach for hours without seeing a single person. We will definitely return!!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for choosing our home. We are so happy you had a great stay. You must have seen the deer that come and visit behind our house. I think they were on the front porch, because all my flowers were eaten.
