Description

Boone Cabin Rental Photos and Description

3 BR, loft, 2.5 baths, sleeps 10, with spectacular views from bedrooms and decks

Ten seconds after coming through the front door of the cabin and looking through the cathedral ceiling to floor window, you will know why we call it Purple Haze. We love Jimmy, but it's not about him. It's the amazing view out across the Appalachian Mountains, well into Virginia, evoking 'purple mountains majesty.' This spacious luxury log cabin home has 3 BR, 2.5 baths, plus loft. Located between Boone and Blowing Rock just 1.7 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Main living area is showcased by a wall of windows and exposed beams accented by a corner stone fireplace with gas logs. Flat screen TV, hardwood floors, comfortable furnishings with plenty of seating. Amenities include AC, cable, broadband internet.. Fully equipped galley kitchen, dining room table seats 8. Easy access to large deck with additional dining furniture, gas grille, and hot tub. Master suite is located on this level with TV, private bath and deck access. Loft has 2 twin beds, a leather sofa, reading nook and great views. Downstairs has a den with leather furnishings, a TV with video, 2 bedrooms with queen beds, a shared bathroom, laundry room, a covered deck with spectacular views.

(Winter visitors: 4 wheel drive or chains are highly recommended)

The convenient location offers something for everyone. Some of the best day hiking in the Blue Ridge mountains are within 15 minutes. Hike to great views or waterfalls with swimming holes. For endurance hikers, the cabin is 1/2 mile off the Mountain to Sea Trail. For cyclists, the Blue Ridge Parkway is 1.7 miles away, but there are also many mountain bike trails. White water rafting is available nearby.

The house is located on a rural, dead end, paved street that has very little traffic and is a great, safe environment for kids and pets. You are in the rural mountains, yet it is just a beautiful 15 minute drive, along the Blue Ridge Parkway to the charming village of Blowing Rock. There you will find fine dining and great shopping. Or you may prefer the lively college town of Boone, also only 15 minutes away. Here you will find nightlife and interesting, unique restaurants and shops. During the winter months, 4 wheel drive or tire chains are recommended.

Amazing View!

  • 4 of 5

Family with pet traveled to Purple Haze for a long November weekend. Loved the views! The house was as mentioned in the description and we were very comfortable during our stay. The property has a hot tub but we didn't try it out. Enjoyed early morning walks with our dog, hiking the trails @ Trout Lake and touring both Boone & Blowing Rock. Great relaxing weekend before the holidays. We would recommend this property. The only icing on the cake would have been to have a fire pit while enjoying the view off the deck. :>)

Beautiful Stay at Purple Haze

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just got back from an amazing mountain stay at Purple Haze. The location is perfect for anyone wanting to visit both Boone and Blowing Rock and yet feel tucked away amongst the trees. We had a great time visiting both cities when we weren't enjoying Purple Haze.

The cabin had everything we could have ever wanted. At 6 months pregnant I slept wonderfully in the master bed :)! Some of the best sleep I've had in awhile. Everything was quiet with the exception of the occasional nighttime toot from Tweetsie Railroad's Ghost Train (which we LOVED!)

We will be back to Purple Haze. I will treasure the nights spent on that back porch watching the sun go down and enjoying Apple Cider in the mountain air. (My husband loved the hot tub!)

Only tip I have for renters is to be sure to follow the directions about the spare key ;)

Owner's Response: Hi Lolly, Thanks for your nice review. There is a "hidden key" I was going to tell you about when you called and got locked out, but you had already gotten back in. Ellen

Beautiful and Accomodating

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely loved staying at Purple Haze! The pictures didn't do it justice; tons of beautiful deck space and very well laid out for 2-3 families. Very well kept. Appreciated its (relatively unique) proximity to Boone. Thank you for making the experience a breeze; our entire group agreed it will be at the top of our list for future stays in Boone.
