About the property

3 BR, loft, 2.5 baths, sleeps 10, with spectacular views from bedrooms and decks

Ten seconds after coming through the front door of the cabin and looking through the cathedral ceiling to floor window, you will know why we call it Purple Haze. We love Jimmy, but it's not about him. It's the amazing view out across the Appalachian Mountains, well into Virginia, evoking 'purple mountains majesty.' This spacious luxury log cabin home has 3 BR, 2.5 baths, plus loft. Located between Boone and Blowing Rock just 1.7 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Main living area is showcased by a wall of windows and exposed beams accented by a corner stone fireplace with gas logs. Flat screen TV, hardwood floors, comfortable furnishings with plenty of seating. Amenities include AC, cable, broadband internet.. Fully equipped galley kitchen, dining room table seats 8. Easy access to large deck with additional dining furniture, gas grille, and hot tub. Master suite is located on this level with TV, private bath and deck access. Loft has 2 twin beds, a leather sofa, reading nook and great views. Downstairs has a den with leather furnishings, a TV with video, 2 bedrooms with queen beds, a shared bathroom, laundry room, a covered deck with spectacular views.

(Winter visitors: 4 wheel drive or chains are highly recommended)

The convenient location offers something for everyone. Some of the best day hiking in the Blue Ridge mountains are within 15 minutes. Hike to great views or waterfalls with swimming holes. For endurance hikers, the cabin is 1/2 mile off the Mountain to Sea Trail. For cyclists, the Blue Ridge Parkway is 1.7 miles away, but there are also many mountain bike trails. White water rafting is available nearby.

The house is located on a rural, dead end, paved street that has very little traffic and is a great, safe environment for kids and pets. You are in the rural mountains, yet it is just a beautiful 15 minute drive, along the Blue Ridge Parkway to the charming village of Blowing Rock. There you will find fine dining and great shopping. Or you may prefer the lively college town of Boone, also only 15 minutes away. Here you will find nightlife and interesting, unique restaurants and shops. During the winter months, 4 wheel drive or tire chains are recommended.

Fourth time staying at Purple Haze. Feels like home.

  • 5 of 5

We've made a tradition out of spending a weekend in the mountains for the holidays and Purple Haze has been a fun part of that tradition. Very private but convenient to everything. Can't wait to go back next year.

Purple Haze Rocks

The only real problem is that this site only gives me the option to give it 5 stars. It's easily 6 or 8 or 12 stars. Absolutely stellar!

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed Purple Haze so much! It had everything we needed and more! The kitchen was well stocked and I loved that they had some spices remaining for the few we forgot for out Thanksgiving meal! There was plenty of room to stretch out for the 5 of us! The prelit Christmas tree was a lovely added touch and we loved the magnificent view of the mountains! We would love to come back again and hope to return soon!

5-yr old approved

  • 5 of 5

We came in late and didn't appreciate the scenery until the next day. The cabin is cozy, and stocked with all the stuff you need. The view was wonderful from the living room and deck. The area is SUPER quiet. Lots of stuff to do around town.

Our 5-yr old didn't want to leave on the last day, and she enjoyed the Jacuzzi...

Wonderful family get away!

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay. The owners thought of everything! The views are incredible. Easy drive to town, but feels like you are so secluded, there are homes nearby, but the setting is very private. We enjoyed family meals and an epic game of Taboo which we found among the books and board games provided. We can’t wait to go again. Thanks for a fantastic stay.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

5 nights in the mountains and we only left the cabin once! We were very content during our stay, everything was perfect and we had everything we needed.

My counterpart is a chef by trade and was very pleased with how well the kitchen was stocked with pots, pans and utensils, all in good repair. We thouroughly enjoyed the gas logs, especially after a dip in the hot tub and of course, the view was amazing! We will be looking forward to return visits!
