This unique 6-acre property, set on top of a secluded bucolic ridge yet only a few minutes to downtown, is the perfect marriage of clean modern luxurious style with eclectic cool sensibilities. Come experience this slice of heaven.

Open the door to this stylish home and behold a chandelier of luminous handblown glass orbs illuminating over an open and airy entertainer's paradise home. A home renovated with sleek zinc counter tops and hip designer stones, balanced with touches of hand-stained wine bottle pallets from the Herman Story Winery and other unique reclaimed rustic wood.

Gather with your family or friends in the beautiful open living area: Lounge on the comfortable yet stylish oversized Restoration Hardware sofa while watching Direct TV on the big screen TV embedded in the lime stones over the fireplace; Hang out on sleek bar chairs next to the cool zinc counters in the open and fully stocked kitchen while you chat with the chef of your party, who might want to whip up a tasty morsel using the powerful 6-burner wolf range; Lounge at the oversized rustic wooden dining table built for 12; Grab a glass from the most beautiful bar you will encounter in Paso; Oh, and, unwind!

Choose your bedroom from two oversized master suites or a chic third bedroom, decorated with luxurious pillow-top designer beds and each with its own bathrooms. Check out the sleek bathrooms with cool tiles and rustic wood, stocked with plenty of fluffy white towels and upscale toiletries.

Take your glass of wine and stroll outside through any number of the french doors positioned throughout this home. Exhale and leave your city angst behind as you take in the breathtaking views of Paso Robles, views that include rolling hills with almond trees and peaks of vines on one side juxtaposed next to sweeping views of the city on another side. As the sun begins to set, you will be challenged to decide where you should sit to enjoy the awesome views of the bright city lights intermingled with the emerald greens of the rolling hills. Perhaps you will choose to lounge around the chic outdoor sofa, slip into a chair at the 12 ft. long teak outdoor dining table, grab an adirondack chair around the fire-pit, or stretch out under the massive oak tree in adirondack loungers, or stroll over to numerous secluded sitting areas located throughout the grounds.

Hard to leave such a fabulous property, right? No worries. Plenty to do right here. Turn up the grill on the gas BBQ or fire up some fragrant wood in the commercial-sized Santa Maria grill, throw on some grass-fed ribeye steaks and sausages from a local butcher for a mouth-watering dinner in true Paso Robles style. Want some activity? Play petanque or bocci ball in the ball court, throw some horse shoes, stroll the grounds, feed your inner child and swirl around with a hoola hoop, lounge in the Jacuzzi, then relax sitting around the fire pit while you contemplate the wineries to visit tomorrow.

Welcome to Illumination Ridge - a perfect marriage of outdoor and indoor living at its stylish best.

About Miwon Halt

Mom. Wife. Lawyer. Entrepreneur. Mediator. Soccer Mom. Would-Be-Designer. Passionate about family, traveling, our vacation home in Paso, the town of Paso, wine, food, designing and tennis! We live in Southern California, but fell in love with Paso Robles during our many trips up here wine tasting. We looked for the perfect location for over 2 years. It took us nearly a year to renovate every corner of this property to make it our own. We believe this property is the perfect blend of clean modern contemporary sensibilities balanced with cool eclectic sensibilities. We love this place; it is our slice of heaven. We now share it with you.

Miwon Halt purchased this chateau / country house in 2013

Why Miwon Halt chose Central Coast

We are passionate about Paso Robles!

Paso is the fastest growing wine region in California, with over 200 wineries. Paso is regularly voted one of the best towns to move to, to visit, to live in, etc. Paso regularly makes top ten lists for having the happiest residents and great quality of life. Paso is also ideally situated: It's the midway point between Los Angeles and San Francisco; It's 20 minutes away from the beaches of Cambria and Morro Bay; It's only 45 miles to Hearst Castle. Paso is geographically beautiful: It is nestled in the rolling foothills of the Central Coast's Santa Lucia Mountains; Its landscape is dotted with majestic oak trees and untouched bucolic natural beauty; And, cows, horses and sheep roam the hills grazing on grass, the way Mother Nature intended things to be. Paso is also sophisticated. You will find numerous awesome restaurants, many of them equal to or better than what you'd expect to encounter in the big cities of Los Angeles or San Francisco. These are all the reasons why we initially loved visiting Paso. But those aren't the reasons why we decided to buy a house in Paso.

Here is what truly captured our hearts: Paso is authentic. Paso is the real deal. That nostalgic California - the one that people moved out West for way back when, in pursuit of the American Dream - the one that's really hard to find let alone dream about in Los Angeles, San Francisco, or even Napa - well, that California still exists, right here in Paso. As one young winemaker told us, Paso is a place where a person of modest means can come with nothing but hard labor, but with enough passion and hard work, you can build from ground up into something special. Paso is a special place where passion exists, hard work exists, helping each other exists. We hope you will come visit and experience this for yourself.

Awesome stay in Paso!

  • 5 of 5

We travelled for the 2nd year in a row to Paso Robles.

We decided to stay in this beautiful home and let me say, it did not disappoint! WOW! First, the owners are awesome to deal with. Quick to respond to your every need, yes, even after you rent the house, and offered so many recommendations of places to go and things to do. The house is actually better than the pictures show. Inside and out, the house is truly awesome! I could have stayed forever! The view from the backyard, the close proximity to town, the wonderful beds, the state of the art kitchen appliances, the fun/beautiful outdoor area, the deer that we saw daily in the front yard and on our walks, the fire pit, the hot tub, the beautiful home, the great wine, the fantastic wineries, the restaurants, and the private chef, Alex from Crush Catering, made this the BEST trip we have ever had. We travel a lot and we stay in a lot of very nice hotels and rental homes.. That being said, I have never rented the same place twice...until we happened to find this home. We have already started planning our next trip to Paso and we will plan it around the availability of this house. WE LOVED IT! Thank you Miwon for sharing your home, for all of your spot on recommendations, and for the ease in doing business with you. Exceptional home and exceptional experience.

Miwon was wonderful to work with. Very accommodating for arrival/departure times. Great property.

This home is lovely. Three large bedrooms and bathrooms, very spacious living spaces indoors and outdoors too. The decor is modern and furnishings and beds are very comfortable. Our family (including two adult sons and their wives) had a fun stay here for a wedding in Paso. We enjoyed very relaxing time outside when it got cooler. (We we're here for the record-breaking 115-degree heat, so the only thing we missed was a pool!). The kitchen is well stocked and the appliances are top notch (e.g. Wolf range). The views from this hilltop home are terrific. Very peaceful, with the sounds of nature and a couple of nearby roosters greeting us each morning. The on-site activities are plentiful (cornhole, bocce ball, horseshoes, board games), and we had an "epic" game of cornhole! The table for 10 accommodated our family and a few friends we invited over for dinner to celebrate the newly-married couple. It was like hosting them at our own home--we all felt very comfortable here. The property is just a few minutes from downtown, 10 minutes from excellent wineries, and about 30-45 minutes from the coast and Hearst Castle, which we enjoyed too. Our entire three-night stay was very relaxing and enjoyable. We would definitely recommend this property. Thank you, Miwon!

Perfect Wine Country Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This was a return visit for us to Illumination Ridge. We love this home and surroundings! Rustic Modern is how we describe it. Just gorgeous, serene and warm. After a day of wine tastings, sometimes we prefer to forgo dining out (though excellent restaurants) and spend more time at our temporary home on the hill! The owner also provides extensive, excellent, recommendations on wineries, restaurants and local stores and attractions. We have celebrated 2 birthdays at Illumination Ridge. It's a perfect spot for a special occasion or simply a perfect wine country getaway. The photos are pretty spot on, but it's even better in person. Do not hesitate to book this home!

Spectacular!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at many vrbo rentals over the last few years. This property was by far one of the best and at the top of the list for being exceptional. Our family, after wine tasting in Paso, wanted to come home and relax and prepare dinner leisurely. The kitchen had every possible thing we could need to make some beautiful dinners. You can tell that these owners want to make their home your home and no detail has been overlooked.

When we arrived the property was vacation ready. The owners made sure the inside was cool and comfortable and the spa hot a ready for a relaxing unwind.

The games for outdoor were such a hit and the wild turkeys gracing the lawn every evening was such a treat. We will recommend this property to our friends and certainly for any other vacationer that wants to enjoy Paso Robles.

Upon arriving at Illumination Ridge we were instantly happy. The views and peaceful area were just a perfect venue for relaxation! We were able to cook a great meal in the fantastic kitchen and sit outdoors to eat and enjoy our surroundings. The home is spacious and clean and so much attention to detail! I cannot say enough about it...wonderful! Miwon provides a detailed itinerary that we wished we could of stayed another few days to keep exploring. So, I guess we need to go back! We had an excellent getaway in this beautiful home!
