Lovely bay views on quiet cul de sac, 4 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, steps to the beach
Sea Glass Cottage is located on the exclusive north shore of Jamestown/Conanicut Island, on a quiet cul-de-sac adjacent to Narragansett Bay.
This historic Victorian-style cottage was built in 1876 and has been in our family for over 100 years. In 2008 we bought Sea Glass Cottage from our extended family and began its total restoration & upgrade, touching every aspect of the house, including new; roof, electrical & internet wiring, plumbing, walls & moldings, heating system, double-pane windows, window air conditioners, ceiling fans, new septic system with water filtration system, new bathrooms, new kitchen, & interior/exterior painting. Most importantly, we retained our cottage’s historic heritage by refurbishing the original tin ceilings, doors, and wood flooring.
Our home is a few steps away from a shell beach, a shore line neighborhood beach, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, skipping rocks, or moonlit camp fires. Beach shoes are recommended. The beach has amazing views of the Narragansett Bay, Prudence and Patience Islands. We have a wrap around porch that allows you a serene place to relax in one of our comfortable rockers & enjoy our tranquil setting. Our spacious backyard has a brick patio with BBQ & picnic table for family dining. And by July 4th 2018, we will have a new backyard deck with a dining set for six, plus two chaise lounges, to enjoy more Bay views!
The new gourmet kitchen is fully equipped, and its counter island seats two, allowing for comfortable gatherings with the chef. All of the rooms are beautifully decorated with many of the family’s original antiques, mixed with cottage-style comfort.
On the first floor there is the living room, dining room, kitchen, one full tub/shower bathroom, and a once-upon-a-time music room - that can be closed off completely for privacy with a queen sofa sleeper. The second floor has one full bathroom (shower only), four bedrooms; two have full beds, one has two twin beds (King linens are available if guests want to combine the twins into a King bed), and a tiny room which was once the nanny quarters - has a single daybed, with access stairs to the kitchen.
Located on the north end of Jamestown, you are just 10 minutes from the center of Jamestown and 20 minutes to famous historic Newport.
Based on our family's past 100 years of enjoying Sea Glass Cottage - I can easily say it is an ideal location for building sweet family memories and traditions.
We would like a maximum 6 guests - but will consider a couple more persons under certain conditions. We are children friendly & ask that there be no smoking please within our cottage.

About Nancy Hendry
We took full ownership of our family's summer cottage in 2008. Since that time, with the help of a highly respected, local contractor, we have completed a full renovation of the cottage, and are presently continuing to enhance this historic property. Our motivation has always been to restore the comfort, beauty and charm back to the cottage, so that over the next hundred years, our children, and their children, and future guests will continue to build treasured family memories. We are very happy to share this magical place with others.

Fun for Five
Perfection....loved the island...location on the island...the house....especially the house.
It was beautifully but comfortably furnished...fully equipped kitchen...more than adequate linens and towels. Lots of equipment for the beach-chairs,coolers,umbrella, etc.
Perfect porch for reading and dreaming.
And FOUR BIKES, tennis rackets ..and a quitar for my talented son in law to strum.
Big lawn for bocce, whiffle ball, whatever. Nice beach to walk and explore
We loved it...and dreamed that it belonged to us.
Wallace & I appreciate that you took the time to write a review of your recent visit to our home in Jamestown. This summer has been our first experience with sharing our island cottage with families outside our family. So hearing in our first review that your family felt comfortable and at home is very gratifying. It is our sincere hope that you will have a chance to visit Sea Glass again, and continue relaxing & dreaming on the front porch with family and friends.
Jamestown/Conanicut Island is rich in open space and a tour around its rural roads reveals farms, salt marshes, and stunning water views. Jamestown is full of hidden treasures such as small beaches and winding trails. Beavertail Lighthouse juts dramatically into Rhode Island Sound from a rocky southern tip of the island. Jamestown is home to three marinas and many residents and visitors are sailors. Narragansett Bay is ideal for sailing, fishing, and kayaking. The village center is Narragansett Avenue, which runs from east to west with a marina at each end, and is lined with restaurants and stores. When you're not at the beach or on the water enjoying the ocean views, this small island town offers museums, art shows, concerts and sporting events. Newport makes a great day trip, just a ten minute drive across the bridge or by ferry in season. Providence is a 40 minute drive and offers a great cosmopolitan contrast. Visiting a nearby island is always fun. Its only a 30 minute drive to Point Judith to catch a fast ferry to Block Island, or 20 minutes to Quonset to catch the fast ferry to Martha's Vineyard. And for a more adventurous trip, it’s an hour drive to Woods Hole to catch the ferry to Nantucket.
