This beautiful studio is a ocean front Resort & Spa that has a pool, hot tub, lounge chairs, full gym, spa, and everything else you would expect at a luxury resort. We even have real Mayan Ruins across the street!

Our guest suite includes: Your own private balcony with table and four chairs on it - King Size Bed which can convert into twin beds - Convertible Sleep Sofa - Private Bath - Kitchenette - Large Refrigerator - Microwave - Toaster Oven - Coffee Maker - Two Burner Hot Plate - Silverware - Dishes - Satellite TV - Free Wifi - Hair Dryer - Iron and Washer and Dryer free of charge!

The floors are all marble, and it has a cathedral ceiling, air conditioning, a safe, linens, and towels for the bath, beach and pool.
Your balcony over looks the resorts pool area and the gorgeous ocean.. The views are amazing! At night you can see the lights from the island of Cozumel across the sea!

There are 2 restaurants in our place, both with full bars. One of the bars has a swim up counter in the pool. The lobby restaurant also serves a breakfast buffet in the mornings. Both restaurants serve food and beverages poolside and on the beach.

About our neighborhood:
We are in the middle of Playacar Fase 1, which is a very safe, gated, beach front neighborhood at the south end of Playa del Carmen. Playacar is divided into two phases. We live in Phase 1, which is very small and private in comparison to Phase 2. It is mostly single family houses except for one other condominium and one hotel, both of which are at the entrance to our neighborhood.

We are about a 10 minute walk along the beach to 5th Avenue, locally known as La Quinta. There you will find hundreds of restaurants. They serve everything from tacos or ceviche to French cuisine. The atmospheres range from sand-in-your-toes to high-end, fine dining, and you can spend as little or as much as you want. If you sit at one of the outdoor restaurants, you may be treated to live music by the strolling Mariachis.

Great spot to unwind

Really loved the location. Residential area, but close enough to walk to where all the action is if that’s what you’re looking for. Ruins right across the street. Very comfortable room. Great view. Very pleasant staff at resort. Restaurant is decent. Great pool. Would love to stay there again!

Don't hesitate, it's amazing!

This place was so beautiful, especially for the price. It was clean and overlooked the beach which is steps away. The resort is the Sunset Fisherman. It's a small resort and very friendly and safe. The staff were so kind. They have a restaurant that serves a rotating menu which is delicious and affordable. The resort was very quiet and away from the hub-bub of Playa. The walk to Playa is an easy and safe 10-15 walk through a quiet neighborhood or a 15 minute walk up the beach. You won't find a place that is this affordable and right on the beach like this place!

Secluded while still walkable to downtown. Clean, quiet, friendly staff. Only issue was they kept closing the pool early! Night swimming is so beautiful. Wish they stayed open later.

Nice condo in Playacar close to everything

We were very confortable at the condo, the hotel is nice there's amenities like gym, spa, pool and restaurants. It's located in Playacar, it's very nice neighborhood and it's close to all in playa.

This is a BEAUTIFUL setting; the beach is lovely and the grounds well kept. We enjoyed being a bit removed from the business of Playa, which was only about a 15-minute walk away.

Feb stay at sunset fishermen’s.

Had a great time spending 5 nights at the condo. Everything was clean and had no issues. Enjoyed walking the beach and being walking distance from 5th ave and the surrounding area. Spent a few days enjoying the area and just hanging out at the beach. Was also good location to go on a few excursions on the other days. It was a perfect 1st trip to Mexico for us. Can’t wait to visit again.

Wonderful stay

Our check-in was a breeze and our room was even ready early so we had more of the day to enjoy the resort. Room was clean and had everything we needed. The welcome bowl of fruit and coffee and tea were appreciated. Location has a great beach, easy walk to restaurants and shops and staff and guests were very friendly. Krystal promptly answered all our questions and had great restaurant suggestions. We are thinking of going next year and staying longer

Feb 2024 - Sunset Fisherman Resort

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this resort / studio apt. The condo was clean and had everything we needed. The pool side bar / snack bar had good food and drinks. The restaurant that was onsite was good also. The people working here were all friendly and very helpful. Getting into town was easy, it was a short 15-minute walk. Getting a cab from the hotel was also very easy and reasonably priced. The only thing that needs some improvement is the resort need to get some more umbrellas for the beach.

Beautiful location

The beach is amazing and the property very nice. The management was very responsive. We had two small issues and they were both resolved within hours of us sending an email. The studio is spacious, the kitchen nicely equipped and the balcony is large and has an amazing view.

Great ocean-view studio condo

This is a small resort, very close to the ocean, with all the amenities you need. Good lunch time restaurant and swim up pool bar. It also has another restaurant with awesome evening meals, with different themes each night, as well as a fabulous breakfast buffet with an omelette station. Our condo was very clean with a balcony overlooking the ocean, full size kitchen and a comfy king bed. We will definitely be back!!

Beach front studio

Very nice, clean, well equipped studio. Very well maintained with a beautiful Ican view also. You can cook in if desired. The area was convenient for walking to the most amazing shopping on their so called Fifth Ave. many restaurants easily accessible also. The manager, Penny, was very helpful with our stay. She recommended many places to go and eat at that were just great.

Perfect beach and place to stay in Riviera Maya

Play Car Phase 1 is NOT, just Playa del Carmen. My family and I love Playa and have stayed everywhere from Mamaita's Beach to Xcaret. But, Playa Car Phase 1 is special. It is private, secure, and on the beach. Play Car Phase 2 is great for families and those that like to wake up and watch the wildlife. However, of the more than ten places I have stayed in Playa del Carmen I believe this was my favorite.

The condo and property were better than advertised. Spotlessly clean, comfortable, beautiful and safe location. Communication with the host was easy and she was very responsive. We had a minor maintenance issue that was dealt with immediately. One thing to note, the condo is on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator so anyone with mobility issues should be aware. It was not a problem for us. We highly recommend this condo and would stay there again without hesitation.

Anniversary celebration long weekend

The condo was perfect. Not too small and not too big. Great for my husband and I. There is a pull out sofa so you could absolutely take 2 children or in our case our 2 grandsons. Fishermans as always does not disappoint, the service is spectacular and the main restaurant is fabulous with quality of food choices and service. It was great having a washer/dryer available in the shared foyer area of 3 separate condos. The condo could benefit from more wash clothes/hand towels would be my only request:) Loved it, would book again! We stayed at Fishermans in June this year and the larger condo we booked was outdated and a bit run down. I appreciated the nice furniture of this condo, the outlets with multiple plug ins and all appliances in good condition.

Beautiful Spot

This studio condo was as described in the VRBO listing. It included a porch overlooking the ocean. Although the kitchen did not have a stove, there was a microwave, toaster oven and hot plate. Other than the stove, the kitchen was fully equipped. The living room was spacious and the bathroom clean and tiled. The bed was really, really comfortable. The resort is small (which I liked). It was an easy walk to town by beach or road. The owner was very responsive and also sent info by email regarding the resort and things to do. The only problem: no lock on the slider and no rod to secure the door. I would return to this resort.

Beach 🏝️

This was are first time at Fishermans, we stayed at this property for three weeks. The staff are wonderful , very helpful and pleasant The location was perfect, right on the beach . The seaweed was picked up off the beach daily . We were close to down town a 15 minute walk. It’s a gated community with double door security to your room. We had a few different things arise in our condo unit but Krystal ,the property manager, the owner Doug and handyman Sergio took care of everything immediately . We appreciated having a restaurant for lunch at a good price. We were so happy we chose Fishermans ! Thank you Doug , Krystal and Sergio And all the wonderful staff at Fishermans. We have already booked for next year WOO HOO ! See you then .

I am a US citizen but I spend most of my time here in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. My first trip here was in 1984, but I did not return again until 2004. In 2005 I decided to buy my first property here. Although I still maintain a lake house in Massachusetts, an apartment in Manhattan and an apartment in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, this is my home. In addition to the local Mexicans and Mayans, you will meet people from all over the world here. We have had guests from countries like Germany, Holland, South Africa, Israel and others, as well as Mexico, the US and Canada. Everybody who comes here falls in love with the place, and I am sure you will too.

Why they chose this property

Even though I love other properties I lived at in Playa this property offers me the most peace and tranquility. It has more of a private beach than other resorts and just close enough to town when I want to venture into the excitement. The staff here is extremely friendly and very accommodating to my every need

What makes this property unique

I fell in love with this place because of the spectacular ocean right in my back yard. The powder soft sand between my toes and the multi-colored ocean waters is enough to make you not want to go home!
