This quaint, clean, 1,088 square foot lakefront cabin/home is on a quiet, 1 acre, very private site, with 245 feet of private waterfront. The pond offers great swimming, fishing, and boating. The location is a perfect spot from which to explore Downeast Coastal Maine all while retreating to the seclusion, privacy and nature that Maine has to offer. The camp is easily accessible, 1.3 miles down a well-maintained scenic dirt road. This private road allows for safe walking or biking. The other side of the road offers views and acreage of Downeast Maine blueberry fields, rocks, hills and mountains. Children and non-aggressive pets are always welcome and invited.

On the main level of the cottage you’ll find an open-concept kitchen/dining/living room and full bathroom. The cottage is wooden post and beam construction throughout. You’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, gas range, refrigerator, and Keurig coffeemaker. Upstairs there is a master bedroom with a queen size bed and a loft area with 2 twin beds and sitting area. A futon in the main living area will also sleep 1.

There is a large yard for outdoor recreation, plenty of parking space, a picnic table and wooded fire pit area near the water for roasting hotdogs and s’mores on cooler nights. Or, you can rest in the hammock and read as the wind blows off the water. There are blueberry patches and wild flowers on the property for the picking if you're vacationing during the season. You’ll find a private dock for swimming and boating, 245’ of private water frontage, and an Adirondack double-seater at the water’s edge to enjoy your morning coffee, read a book or observe the duck families swim by.

The cottage rental includes a two-seater Old Town “Loon” kayak, paddles and safety jackets as well as a paddle-boat for your enjoyment. There is a clothesline to dry wet clothing/towels and coin laundry machines 2 miles away.

Rental is available May through October. Spring/Summer/Autumn in Maine is a great time for coastal sightseeing and festivals, as well as hiking, camping, boating, swimming, fishing and fall foliage etc. Enjoy nature walks on camp trails nearby; ride/walk the converted railroad by-way down the road; and dine at the local country store. Climb local mountains: Schoodic, Tunk and Catherine. This location is also convenient to Acadia National Park known tourist sites such as Bar Harbor and the untouched/natural sites such as Schoodic Point. Antiques, art galleries, movies, dining and shopping can be found nearby in Ellsworth. And of course, unique Downeast Maine culture, cooking, and seafood can be enjoyed anytime!

This property rents a minimum of 3 days, a week or an entire month. A gas furnace will heat the cottage during the cooler nights or days. The house has an open-covered porch with a barbecue grill which overlooks a wooded water view. There is a shaded picnic table and platform near the water for outside dining or tenting. Views of the water can be seen through tall trees from the windows and doors of the main living/dining area. Skylights and windows are located on both upper-level rooms. Bed linens & some towels are provided for bed, bath and kitchen. Beach towels are also included.

Experience the gentle nightly water breeze and the sounds and sights of black ducks, birds, owls, loons, wildlife, dragonflies, blueberry fields and lightening bugs. Come enjoy our serene Maine property with a friend or your whole family.

perfect quiet retreat

  • 5 of 5

Two years ago we rented the Milam camp and had a fantastic experience. Our second time around just as great. We knew just driving through the blueberry fields how special this place is and how we would like to keep it hidden from the world. But that's not fair so here I am sharing/reviewing our time at this special place. If you are looking for a quiet cozy cabin nestled on a beautiful lake outside of Bar Harbor area then this is the place. This camp makes an excellent home base for a lakeside retreat and visiting Bar Harbor/ Acadia. The Milam's pay great attention to detail and were a pleasure to work with. Everything was just right from the beds and linens to the kitchen amenities. The front porch is amazing to sit back and enjoy the tranquility of the lake. The fire pit helps lock in that camping experience and I can't say enough about how perfect Abrams Pond is. My family really enjoyed our time here I hope yours does too.

Wonderful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this place! From the moment I spoke with Greg on the phone, I knew that it was going to feel like home. The place was clean, well stocked, comfortable and was peaceful and relaxing. Greg's brother-in-law was there to show us around when we arrived and when we had a question or two, Greg was very helpful on the phone and always pleasant to speak to. The weather wasn't the greatest while we there, so it was nice to be able to put our feet up and relax in the cabin and enjoy the view. If you are looking for a quiet getaway, then you can't go wrong with this beautiful place!!

Great Location !!!

  • 5 of 5

I travel ALOT and always try to stay at homes vs hotels. This home was very comfortable and felt welcoming. Only a short 30 min drive to Arcadia Park. Fishing from the dock was great.

Would stay here again.

A Great Place to Stay..Quiet, Relaxing and Refreshing

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent a long weekend at the Milam Cabin and from the very start with our first call with Greg Milam we knew this was going to be a great place to stay. Greg was very gracious in making sure we were comfortable and provided us with the necessary information ahead of time so we would be prepared for our stay. His mom (Norma) came out to meet us and led us to the cabin. We were welcomed by a wonderful gift basket, filled with goodies (yeah whoopie pies!), smore makings and coffee. The cabin is in a great location located on a very quaint and quiet pond (we call them lakes in the midwest) and the best thing for us was hearing the loons calling in the night and the early morning hours. We enjoyed several nights making a fire and just hanging out roasting hot dogs and making smores and enjoying the frest clean Maine air. Standing on the dock at night you can see the Milkyway and a zillion stars, some of them shooting right past us. The cabin has a great porch up front, with two comfortable rockers, and was a great place to enjoy our early morning coffee. The cabin has WIFI if you need to connect to the internet, or watch Netflix, Hulu, etc. There is no satellite cable connection for TV, but that was okay for my wife and I, as we wanted to get away from the news and other cable programing. The cabin comes fully equipped kitchen (pots, pans, utensils, glassware, etc) and you can even purchase one of their great coffee mugs. If you are looking for a quiet and remote place to stay, but still within visiting distance of Bar Harbor, Arcadia Natl Park and the Maine coast, then I would highly recommend the Milam Cabin. You can't go wrong..oh I did i forget, acres upon acres of blueberry fields are nearby.
