Wonderful place to truly get away from the rat race
It was lovely to be able to sit on the porch and look out at the beautiful pond and color change. We used the paddle boat. We fished and caught two big bass that are now back in the pond for you to catch when you go to the camp. Most enjoyable have fun
Quiet and Private
Very nice well equipped cabin in a very private and picturesque spot on Abrams Pond. Location is about 30 min to Acadia and 15 min to Ellsworth but very nice drives. We enjoyed sitting by the fire at night and on the porch, it is very a peaceful spot, we could here Loons all day and night which we enjoyed very much. The only thing missing was being able to swim, the Pond is very rocky but there are nice public beaches in the area.
Excellent vacation, there is no place like Maine!
This cabin had everything we needed, was so cozy, and the views of the sunsets were amazing!
We loved this place! We loved that it was secluded(at least it felt that way) yet we could be close to the places we wanted to see. We would definitely go back!
Nice Quiet Retreat
We had a great time--setting was awesome. Weather turned cool and windy after 3 wonderful days but we had smores by the fire anyway! Caught a 3 lb smallmouth the first day and the rest of the time spent reading and exploring the sights. Our kids came up from NYC to unwind for a few days--they had a good time at the cabin--Josie (our mutt) had a great time (although the ducks were glad to see her go)!
When can we go back?
Those were the first words out of my son's mouth pulling out of the driveway at the end of our stay on Abrams Pond. The cabin had most anything we could need and we were very comfortable there. It was nice to look out at the pond while eating breakfast, to read and play games on the porch and nap on the hammock in the yard. I particularly liked looking at the water from the bench near the dock. We also enjoyed paddling about in the kayak and paddle boat. Greg was a very welcoming host, who was easy to reach with any questions. He always had good suggestions for restaurants and sites in the area as well. We enjoyed relaxing at the cabin, but there are plenty of activities and places to explore nearby and Bar Harbor is just a short distance away too. We had a wonderful stay and look forward to visiting again!
Beautiful, peaceful and secluded with plenty to do!
Our family of 4 spent the last two weeks of July at the beautiful Milam Camp. Before we even set foot in the property, Greg and Donna had already done everything possible to make our trip as perfect as possible, having been in touch to answer several questions, and making it clear that we could contract them at any time in the run up to and during our stay. The camp itself is perfect - a beautiful log cabin, tucked away among the trees and meters from the lake, with its own private dock with stunning views. The cabin was very comfortable. We have vacationed in a number of self-catering properties in the past, and have learned from previous experience that the "fully equipped" kitchen may have the bare essentials, but is never as well equipped as your own kitchen at home - not so at Milan Camp! It was so nice to stay somewhere that really lived up to the "fully equipped" tag - sharp kitchen knives, an excellent selection of pots and pans, every utensil you could think of and not one, but two coffee machines! The beds were wonderfully comfortable, and my husband and I even ended up stripping back the covers to discover the make of the mattress and pillows for future reference! Our girls (aged 9 & 6) had a wonderful time exploring the camp, playing in the hammock and, of course, swimming in the lake and exploring in the paddle boat and the kayak. We also enjoyed the most brilliant displays of stars lying on the dock on clear nights. With no light pollution, we spotted countless shooting stars and satellites. Once you are ready to venture further afield, there is plenty to do in the local area. Ellsworth is well worth a visit, with Finn's Irish Pub, Morton's Moo homemade ice-cream, and Downeast Cheesecakes (sublime!!) all becoming fast favourites with the whole family. Acadia National Park is on your doorstep with all its many attractions at your disposal. And at the end of a busy day, you know that you have the quiet serenity of Milam Camp to return to. It truly is a magical place in which to unwind and relax. None of us wanted to leave!
