A Great Place to Stay..Quiet, Relaxing and Refreshing

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent a long weekend at the Milam Cabin and from the very start with our first call with Greg Milam we knew this was going to be a great place to stay. Greg was very gracious in making sure we were comfortable and provided us with the necessary information ahead of time so we would be prepared for our stay. His mom (Norma) came out to meet us and led us to the cabin. We were welcomed by a wonderful gift basket, filled with goodies (yeah whoopie pies!), smore makings and coffee. The cabin is in a great location located on a very quaint and quiet pond (we call them lakes in the midwest) and the best thing for us was hearing the loons calling in the night and the early morning hours. We enjoyed several nights making a fire and just hanging out roasting hot dogs and making smores and enjoying the frest clean Maine air. Standing on the dock at night you can see the Milkyway and a zillion stars, some of them shooting right past us. The cabin has a great porch up front, with two comfortable rockers, and was a great place to enjoy our early morning coffee. The cabin has WIFI if you need to connect to the internet, or watch Netflix, Hulu, etc. There is no satellite cable connection for TV, but that was okay for my wife and I, as we wanted to get away from the news and other cable programing. The cabin comes fully equipped kitchen (pots, pans, utensils, glassware, etc) and you can even purchase one of their great coffee mugs. If you are looking for a quiet and remote place to stay, but still within visiting distance of Bar Harbor, Arcadia Natl Park and the Maine coast, then I would highly recommend the Milam Cabin. You can't go wrong..oh I did i forget, acres upon acres of blueberry fields are nearby.

An Oasis of Tranquility

  • 5 of 5

This property is truly beautiful in a completely indescribable way. The Milam's went far beyond what was expected to ensure that our stay was comfortable, peaceful, and unforgettable. Norma is a sweetheart and was very accommodating by greeting us late in the evening after our long drive from the airport with a bag of goodies that really hit the spot! The cabin was very clean and beautiful and had everything we needed to make our stay one we will treasure forever. Greg was extremely kind and very helpful directing us to the property and answering any questions that came up. I knew from the moment I first spoke to him on the phone that his property would be a perfect match for what we desired. The location is great for a quiet getaway while being close enough to Acadia National Park and other beautiful sites in the gorgeous state of Maine. The beds are oh so comfortable and the cabin had a peacefulness that seemed as though it came from within its walls. We cherished sitting on the porch looking out over the "pond" ("lake" by Wisconsin standards) and drinking hot coffee as the fog rolled in and the sun came up. We took the paddle boat out and were the only ones on the water while we listened to the loons and threw in a line. A funny memory I'll always have is falling out of the boat while docking it. The water was so calm and clear that it was almost fun getting soaked! The blueberry fields surrounding the property were amazing! A special treat was the note card and map system that was created to ensure that people who are not familiar with the area know where to go and what to do. I am so glad we chose The Milam Camp. I can't imagine a more serene or beautiful location for a weekend getaway with a friend---leaving the husbands at home! Thank you for memories that will last a lifetime!

Quintessential "On Golden Pond" Maine Experience

  • 5 of 5

Milam Camp is a perfect spot to experience the best of Maine. From coffee on the lakeside Adirondack chairs in the morning to the gorgeous sunsets, serenaded by echoing loons in the evening,... it's a quiet, relaxing paradise. As so often happens when on vacation in an idyllic spot like this, we were torn between wanting to spend our time in those Adirondacks, in the hammock, in the tandem kayak or exploring that beautiful part of Maine including Acadia and the quaint coastal towns. It was a perfect location for jaunting out to those places and returning to a cozy lakeside cabin in the evenings. We highly recommend this cabin to anyone wanting that perfect Maine experience. And, it all started with the welcoming conversations with Greg before we arrived, and being led to the cabin by his mother, Norma, who presented us with a Maine "goodie sack" including the makings for s'mores. One of our regrets is that we didn't have time to build a fire and enjoy them!!

If you do make it out to this beautiful corner of our country, we recommend bringing your bikes or renting them so you can ride the amazing Carriage Trails in Acadia. It was a highlight of our trip. Also another highlight: purchasing fresh live lobster from a local fisherman and cooking them in the huge lobster pot provided at the cabin. Yes, attention to every detail is evident in this cozy cottage! We loved our Maine experience because of that! Thanks!!

This was a perfect getaway. The lake was beautiful and perfect for swimming, fishing, or just relaxing with a book on the dock. Sunsets were gorgeous. We built a great fire and enjoyed smores. The cabin itself had everything you might want from soft towels to skylights to the stars. The process went smoothly and the privacy was just what we were looking for. We would definitely use VRBO again and if we ever get to Maine again, we would certainly stay at this Eastbrook property.

Probably one of the last remaining places where there is only the sounds of nature

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the Milam Cottage. Greg was very helpful in answering our questions during the booking process and all during our stay. His mother, Norma, greeted us with a surprise goodie bag and also showed us all of the essentials at the cottage. The cottage was very clean, nicely decorated, and had all of the amenities for our stay. We enjoyed an evening at the fire pit and the beautiful view of the lake. We would definitely recommend the Milam Camp!
