Magical views and excellent location

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed several times in this beautiful retreat and absolutely love our time spent there. The location is amazing, right on the water with a great beach, and the place feels very private and isolated from the neighboring houses. The views from the deck, living/dining room and two of the bedrooms cannot be beat. Walking through the door we felt surrounded by the water and mountains and instantly relaxed.

The house itself is a comfortable and cozy summer cottage. It is not super fancy but everything you need is provided with a well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and linens and plenty of towels. The home can easily accommodate two families and sleeps 8 people very comfortably. Two bedrooms have gorgeous water views and I loved falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves hitting the beach. The hot tub overlooking the Sound is an additional lovely perk.

Although the house feels incredibly private, it is an easy 5 minute walk into East Sound. (About 1 minute of that walk is along a busy road so you should be careful with young kids) We loved walking to the Brown Bear bakery for coffee and treats in the morning and spent lots of time in the local book store.

The hosts were friendly and accommodating and very responsive. I could tell that they wanted us to enjoy their home as much as they do. I highly recommend this home as home base to enjoy all the magic that Orcas Island offers.

Great place to stay in Eastsound

  • 3 of 5

The house is beautiful, homey and well stocked. Our family liked it. Location is walkable to the shops and restaurants.

Why 3-stars? We paid $250 for cleaning, knew it upfront and were OK with it. But $250 cleaning charge does not include trash! We had to haul the trash ourselves to the dump. Beware that dump does open till 10 am and you have to checkout by 10. You pack up your family, luggage and trash at the same time. Hope this is a fair review.

Great location & view!

  • 5 of 5

Loved our three night stay at this home. The location was perfect - about a 5 minute walk from the great shops and restaurants in Eastsound. The view is simply amazing as you relax on the deck. As others have said, use caution as you walk down to the beach, but it doesn't take away from this beautiful home. We'll be back!

Incredible Views

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay! Saw sea otters, an eagle, hummingbirds, and toured the nearby town - Mijitas Mexican Kitchen makes a great margarita and Brown Bear Baking fills the town with delicious fresh baked smells. Four-person hot tub heats up quickly and with clear skies we all enjoyed the stargazing. Huge thank you for accommodating our request for altered time leaving; worked out great. We recommend taking the beach path only during the daytime as there is a missing stair step. The only thing bad we have to say about our visit was that we had to leave. Thank you for the amazing getaway.

Amazing view and fabulous location

  • 4 of 5

This home is in a great location (10 min walk from Eastsound) and has the most amazing view. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything you need is in the house - condiments, shampoo so all of those things were very much appreciated. The beds were very comfortable. The only reason why I am not giving this home 5 stars, is because I feel that the home could have been cleaner (for example grime in kitchen area and bathrooms could have been cleaner) and is in need of a deep clean. But otherwise than that we loved our stay. Thanks very much!

Owner's Response: Very sorry to hear that! Also surprised, because our housekeeper is a perfectionist who normally does a fantastic job and because this is the first time we've ever heard that kind of feedback. Either way, our sincere apologies, and thank you for the feedback. We'll definitely look into it, and rest assured the place will be sparkling - as it normally is - for future visits.

Great time and location

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for a week with four people and we all loved this place. It's close to town and the views are fantastic. Went to Hogstone's for dinner one night and it was Fantastic. Rose's has a great cafe and store that we purchased great wines at. Island Hoppin Brewery was a lot of fun and they have great beers. We will definitely come back to this paradise!
