Great location & view!

  • 5 of 5

Loved our three night stay at this home. The location was perfect - about a 5 minute walk from the great shops and restaurants in Eastsound. The view is simply amazing as you relax on the deck. As others have said, use caution as you walk down to the beach, but it doesn't take away from this beautiful home. We'll be back!

Incredible Views

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay! Saw sea otters, an eagle, hummingbirds, and toured the nearby town - Mijitas Mexican Kitchen makes a great margarita and Brown Bear Baking fills the town with delicious fresh baked smells. Four-person hot tub heats up quickly and with clear skies we all enjoyed the stargazing. Huge thank you for accommodating our request for altered time leaving; worked out great. We recommend taking the beach path only during the daytime as there is a missing stair step. The only thing bad we have to say about our visit was that we had to leave. Thank you for the amazing getaway.

Amazing view and fabulous location

  • 4 of 5

This home is in a great location (10 min walk from Eastsound) and has the most amazing view. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything you need is in the house - condiments, shampoo so all of those things were very much appreciated. The beds were very comfortable. The only reason why I am not giving this home 5 stars, is because I feel that the home could have been cleaner (for example grime in kitchen area and bathrooms could have been cleaner) and is in need of a deep clean. But otherwise than that we loved our stay. Thanks very much!

Owner's Response: Very sorry to hear that! Also surprised, because our housekeeper is a perfectionist who normally does a fantastic job and because this is the first time we've ever heard that kind of feedback. Either way, our sincere apologies, and thank you for the feedback. We'll definitely look into it, and rest assured the place will be sparkling - as it normally is - for future visits.

Great time and location

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for a week with four people and we all loved this place. It's close to town and the views are fantastic. Went to Hogstone's for dinner one night and it was Fantastic. Rose's has a great cafe and store that we purchased great wines at. Island Hoppin Brewery was a lot of fun and they have great beers. We will definitely come back to this paradise!

Wow! We loved our stay on Orcas Island at this beautiful Eastsound location. The house was the perfect base for our adventures on the island. The listing very accurately represents the property and our arrival was made easy coordinating with the owner and the property manager. The house was very clean and there was tons of space for our family of 4 and could have accommodated several more. The views from the great room / kitchen were amazing. Our kids spent hours on the beach and we even had kayaks delivered and spent time each day on the water. (The path to the water is not completely groomed so it took careful coordination to get kayaks up and down). We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this special place to friends and family and hope to return soon.

Great Host

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 6 nights in mid-May and had a wonderful time. Like the listing says, this house is conveniently located near Eastsound. We walked or biked into town multiple times a day. One thing to note is that you do have to go onto Orcas Road for a bit (less than a quarter mile). Not a huge deal for adults, but if you've got kids, you'll want to be careful due to the speed of the cars and all the turns. It's also a pretty steep hill coming back.

The house ended up having more amenities than we expected, including a fire pit, games and toys for the kids, and virtually every appliance and tool you could possibly want/need. The view is gorgeous from almost every room in the house, other than the twin bedroom on the main level (upstairs).

When we were planning our trip, I had a hard time visualizing the layout based on the description. The upstairs has a master bedroom with a king-sized bed and doors out to the deck. There's a bathroom (not recently updated, but clean and functional) attached to this room that also has a door into the hallway. The washer and dryer are in this bathroom. This level also has a kids' room with two twin beds and toys/games, the kitchen, and a great room with a dining and living area. On the lower level is an updated bedroom with a queen bed. In the hallway is an updated bathroom with heated floors and towel rack. This level also has a media room with a sofa that turns into a bed and a large television (that uses Amazon TV, not cable or satellite). All of these rooms have views and doors to the patio outside.

The only minor nitpicks I had were: 1) there are no dressers and 2) the trail to the beach is pretty dangerous. There was a bench in the upstairs bedroom where we could lay our suitcases, which was helpful, but not as nice as totally unpacking. We were happy there was a beach at this property, but it was a steep trail that ended in some rock- and driftwood-climbing. It wouldn't have been too bad if it were just us, but we had two toddlers so carrying them down there was a bit more than we had anticipated. We also launched kayaks from here, but that was a challenge. I wouldn't plan on doing that unless you're very nimble and strong.

Overall, it was a wonderful stay. The host is great and more than made up a minor inconvenience we had when arriving. I would gladly stay here again and recommend it to others.
