Not a luxury cabin - but an average family cabin

  • 2 of 5

A group of 7 of us rented the cabin for a long weekend and selected this one for the beautiful large kitchen. While the kitchen was spacious - the selection of pots & pans was very limited and the huge refrigerator had broken/missing shelves. Another reason for our selection was that each bedroom had a king size bed and private bathroom and the media room. The bed itself was comfortable but the sheets smelled so musty that we had to wash them before sleeping on them. We were lucky that the weather was warmer - however if it was cold there were no blankets to be found for the beds or for sitting on the couches. According to the literature - the house was cleaned before our arrival. Well not so much :(. There were thousands of dead lady bugs EVERYWHERE in the house and cobwebs with spiders in the tub. We purchased Lysol wipes to wipe down the kitchen and bathroom areas just to be safe. The beautiful media room was great - as long as you put a DVD in - but watching TV was impossible.

During our stay we did enjoy the fireplace in the main living room area - however we were unable to get the fireplace in the master bedroom to work.

If your group wanted to hang in a gaming area and watch tv - this is not your place. There was limited seating and no TV where you could hear/see TV and play games, chat and laugh as a group.

Also, if you plan to grill out - this is not the place. The grill was worse than a public camp ground grill. Unsanitary, corroded, rusted and not usable.

Owner's Response: I'm sad to read that you were so disappointed three weeks after your stay. I'm actually surprised that I didn't even receive a phone call from you, so that the majority of your grievances could have been resolved. Even more surprised that I did not receive a call after you spent your vacation time cleaning. We strive for excellence, hence we carry an overall 4.5 ☆ rating and would have deeply appreciated this knowledge to have made your stay pleasant.

  • 5 of 5

The property is very clean, perfect for our group. We had 2 families. 4 adults, 2 14 year olds, and 4 11 year olds. PERFECT! The theater room was great for all. Pool table was a lot of fun. The large dining table was so nice. Great porches, awesome views! Kitchen was great, huge refrigerator. Absolutely no problems. Best Fall Break Ever! Everyone feels the same. The bedrooms are very large and it is so nice to have our own restrooms with each bedroom. The hot tub was great as well.

Very lovely, well equipped, quality furnishing, great views, close to town, home away from home.

  • 5 of 5

We had looked around at ALL the cabins available around the area, trying to find the one that would fit our needs for seven people, ages 6mos, 3, 9,11, 29, 59 and 82 yr old. Wanted a mountain view but close to town for the kids, well equipped cabin as far activities for the kids and the whole family. The quality of this cabin was superb with nice linens, towels, very comfortable king size beds very well equipped kitchen. Having the four bedrooms with four baths gave us all comfort and easy living. The Theater Room was super, also pool table, foosball, air hockey, wet bar, hot tub all down stairs made it perfect for play time downstairs and a quieter time upstairs if need be. The big dinning room table upstairs (two tables if you wanted to separate) made great place for meals and also card, game table for the whole family. The Gazebo outside made a great place to also get outside for a get together or quite alone time. A lot of the cabins we looked at, had jetted tubs in the bedrooms next to the bed, which myself, do not care for at all and this cabin had jetted tub/shower in every bathroom. I read thru previous reviews and one gets a little worried as others were talking about quality of the beds, linens, the cabin being worn out, bugs etc. but we found everything quite nice and not aligned with a few of the previous reviews. Sure the roads were country roads from the Parkway (which was probably less than a mile of) were a little narrow than some folks might be used to, but enough room for two vehicles to pass but a driver should know not to go too fast anyway. Yes, we did see a few spiders and webs outside but just what one should expect. One day saw a couple of ants inside but we just made sure we kept the kitchen area clean and no problems. When you are driving up to the cabin and you first see it from the road, looks majestic. The views were good with wooded and mountains to look at from both decks. Very quite with private drive in an actual neighborhood and not a "Resort" type community which I think those would not be so private and as quite. There are other cabins in view, with only one close to this cabin but privacy was not compromised. The owner seemed very nice and responsive to any inquiries that I made before arriving. The whole family was very impressed and enjoyed our stay at Paw's Manor and think we made the right choice after looking at so many cabins before coming up from Houston. We also enjoyed the Eclipse from there.
