Beautiful views, clean, quiet & comfortable!

We stayed at this property last week for my son's fall break from college. This was our first time staying in this area for this length of time, although we had traveled through and spent a couple of nights years ago. Dusty gave great directions to the house which was a different way than our GPS was telling us to go. But, her directions were easier to follow and the route was less winding. Her route became our preferred way to get back and forth. The house was very inviting and had everything we needed. Our son loved having his own space upstairs including his own bathroom....he was even able to get some study time in after we had gone to bed each night. The master bed & bath were good sized and perfect for my husband and me. The views from the windows of the house and front porch were simply beautiful...we couldn't take our eyes off of it. We did a lot of sightseeing in the area. The drive was about 30 minutes into Boone. My nephew is attending college at App State, and we were able to get together with him one afternoon. We visited the original Mast General store in Valle Crucis, Grandfather Mountain, and Blowing Rock. Saw the frescoes in West Jefferson, Glendale Springs, and Crossnore. We drove over to Abingdon, Virginia, and spent a day looking in antique shops. We even went up to Independence and Galax, Virginia, where my dad grew up. The house was very convenient to all of these areas. We ate at several good places around including Shatley Springs, Subas (in Mountain City, TN), the Pedalin' Pig, Local Lion (donuts), and the Stick Boy Bread Company and would recommend all of them. Dusty made us feel very welcomed and had items to cook for breakfast waiting when we arrived, along with fresh flowers and water bottles in the fridge. Those little extras make a difference. The communication was very good with her without being intrusive. There was more to do and see than we had time for this trip. We are looking forward to returning to this property again in the future.

Relaxing And Quaint With Wonderful Hospitality

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful weekend we had in Jaime and Dusty's home. The home itself is nestled amongst some beautiful scenery and is just as pictured, very clean, very cozy, with all of the amenities of home. Dusty's hospitality was amazing from the time we reached out to inquire on a last minute booking, to communicating with us once we were booked, and then just checking in to make sure we had everything that we needed for our stay. It was so thoughtful to also find local made jelly with english muffins, fresh eggs in the fridge.

Boone is a short 15 minute drive and then Blowing Rock maybe another 15 minutes from Boone. It really is a wonderful location to visit all of the mountains towns near by or as they call it High Country. Take advantage of reading the local magazines that are on the coffee table. There is quite a bit to do during all of the seasons. In addition, Jaime and Dusty left a few recommendations on things to do and places to eat, closest gas stations and grocery stores etc. We gave Mike's BBQ a try in Mountain City based on their recommendation and it did not disappoint so if you're in the area definitely stop by.

The layout of the home is perfect for couples, couples/friends traveling together, or a small family. We can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was. Why stay in a hotel when you can stay in such a warm, inviting home with such wonderful hospitality.

We will definitely be back when visiting the mountains!

Charming, Welcoming, and Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We loved this home. It is charming and welcoming. The view of the mountains is awesome. The family was welcoming and extremely respectful of our privacy. We used 2 of the beds and both were very comfortable. The tv was easy to use. It was nice to have local channels downstairs. The kitchen is a bit small (as I saw in other posts) but frankly it is a full-size kitchen with everything you need. We cooked every single meal in that kitchen and even had some delicious local, fresh tomatoes, peppers, and corn brought to us. We so enjoyed talking with the family and again, they were very respectful of our privacy so it enriched our stay to meet them. We traveled to Banner Elk - being from Florida it was an exhilarating drive for us. Getting into Boone was easy. I definitely advise you use their driving directions on arrival and not your GPS. That made our trip way easier. Dusty was incredibly patient and helpful with our questions. It was our first time to the mountains and we had lots of questions. I saw on the reviews mentions of the house being small. It is a small home. It's incredibly lovely. The upstairs has multiple beds in an open loft with a little writing desk and even nicer views of the mountains. They had a nice couple of gardens. We found it really comfortable downstairs and enjoyed the openness of the upstairs. Both bathrooms were quite large. We sat cozily on the couch or relaxed on the porch and swing just looking at the mountains. We definitely plan on visiting again.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

The house is cozy, but not too small and very clean. Dusty left lots of great information about the area, even personally sent messages via texting. The views are wonderful and the area is great for relaxing.

Everything was perfect! Great house and an even better host!

  • 5 of 5

My family of four spent a week here July 29-August 5 and we had a wonderful stay. The drive out to the house was beautiful, winding through the mountains as we passed by farms and pastures. The location was out of the way enough that we felt like we were out in the country, but at the same time there were several cities within a 25-35 minute drive, and a couple more in the 60-90 minute range so we always had plenty to do. During the week we spent time in Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Bristol (TN/VA), Abington (VA), and Johnson City (TN).

We also spent plenty of time at the house, and we were pleased with everything about it! Dusty contacted us beforehand to find out our needs - so when we told her that we were bringing along a two-year old and a two-month old, she had toys laid out and a pack n' play set up for us when we arrived. There was also breakfast food, and there were a couple other nice surprises as well.

The house was very nicely furnished and is exactly as pictured in the listing. We all slept upstairs, and the beds up there were very comfortable. The showers worked perfectly (toiletries and lots of nice towels were provided), the kitchen had everything you could possibly need, the wifi was fast and reliable, and the cable TV was nice to have too. And the view from the house was amazing - I wish we would have had even more time to spend outside and enjoy it.

Dusty was a great host from start to finish. As I mentioned, everything we needed (and more!) was right there waiting for us when we arrived, and throughout our visit Dusty was always available via text to help us with any questions we had. But really, because of all the preparation that was done upfront, we didn't have any issues or questions to ask. Dusty sent us directions that made our arrival easy, and there was a book on the coffee table that had important info such as the wifi password, garbage pickup info, and checkout instructions.

So to sum it up, we couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our first vacation as a family of four - everything went perfectly! If/when we return to the area we will definitely check here first to see if we can stay here again!
