Enjoy the tranquility of our small farm where the amenities of the charming village of Los Olivos are just steps away. Plan your day while breakfasting in the shade of a large mulberry tree, fortifying yourself with fresh organic eggs collected (in season) from our hens and seasonal fruits and veggies you may harvest from our garden. Stroll into the village to enjoy local wine or visit an art gallery. Bike the wine trails of Ballard Canyon or Foxen Canyon where you might stop to enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the many scenic wineries along the way. Let the local shuttle bus, which stops just a few yards from your front door, chauffer you to the nearby towns of Ballard, Santa Ynez, Solvang, and Buellton where you might spend an afternoon visiting historical sites or museums, tasting wine, sampling olive oil, Danish pastries (and Aebleskivers!) or shopping for souvenirs. At the end the day relax on our patio or in the jacuzzi situated in a beautifully landscaped garden. Pull a chair nearer the paddock, where the chickens and goats will surely entertain. On chilly evenings enjoy a movie in the family room where a cozy fire and a soft chenille throw will warm you. Prepare dinner in our newly remodeled kitchen or walk into the village to savor local gourmet farm-to-table fare.

Delightful, Delicious with Loving Details!
Los Olivos Micro Farm ABSOLUTELY exceeded our expectations in every way and offers so much more than the photos can convey. First, the heart of Micro farmer Jessica who greeted us and owner April, permeate every part of this experience with their care and attention to detail. The home itself and the grounds are one discovery after another...so many well thought out details, kitchen supplies, bedding, floor plans and ambiance. The garden was a constant discovery...figs, Asian pears, eggplant, cherry tomatos, grapes, squash, apples and more! However the BEST PART is those darling chickens and the goats. We wanted to move in with them. Caring for them and being blessed by their eggs was an intangible reward and experience that we will always treasure. How incredible that April trusts her guests with this important role.
Nighttime by the firepit, under the stars, with hot tub close by and comfortable seating was like super rich frosting on the cake. It was also a birthday celebration and April ensured it was wonderful. Can't stop thinking about the incredible experience we had and memories we will always treasure. Thank you!!!!!
Thank you so much for your glowing review. It was our pleasure to have you and your family stay at the Micro Farm for your birthday. The animals all seemed to join in with the festivities, as well did the star lit skies.
Hope to have you back again very soon for another birthday celebration.
Better than anticipated!
We had a wonderful time in this lovely retreat with nature, animals, and fresh fruits and vegetables set apart from town but an easy few minute walk to tasting rooms, restaurants, and shops. We had Thanksgiving dinner in the beautiful shaded backyard. Each morning we were eager to feed the goats and let out the chickens (an optional activity) to see if they had left us a gift. We got 2 brown eggs! Overall a relaxing and lovely place that was better than expected.
Thank you so much for your kind review for your stay for your Thanksgiving Family Celebration. You were our very last guests.
That's right. We sold the property and close Escrow tomorrow. Fortunately the new owners will live here full time, keep the goats and hens and just love the property. So we know we leave this wonderful gem of a Micro Farm in very good hands. It was a bittersweet decision to sell. We really never wanted to ever let go of the Los Olivos Micro Farm. But we were forced out by the powers that be in Santa Barbara County who will disallow all short term vacation rentals under a 30 day stay effective September 30, 2018.
So we decided to leave the state for Oregon and Washington where we have other vacation rental properties and buy yet another. I hope to keep all our guests up to date on our unique properties up in the Pacific Northwest. Our Solvang property is also for sale, but he n the short run, we will operate that also as a vacation rental until a new buyer comes along.
Please consider us on your next visit to one of our other properties locations:
Honey Locust Urban Gem
Casi Cielo Tuscan Vineyard Estate in Forest Grove, OR
Bond Ranch Retreat
Mt. Pleasant Garden View Ranch
Port Angeles, WA
and our new properties yet to be determined. Please keep an eye out.
Again, we loved having your family as our final guests for Thanksgiving. Hope to have you again very soon somewhere along the Pacific.
Christmas and New Years Blessings,

This was our second stay at the Micro Farm, and it is starting to feel like home! The house is not only comfortable and well-equipped, but within walking distance of all the wonderful shops and restaurants in Los Olivos. We hope to be able to enjoy a longer stay in the future.
We are happy your second stay was so comfortable and the wedding of your daughter so wonderful.
It was our pleasure having you again as our guests at the Micro Farm.

Secluded, beautiful yard and a quick walk into Los Olivos
We were very happy with this rental. Kitchen has everything you could need and the home was clean and comfortable. The nights were cool and after trying to use the fireplace ( following the instructions) we were getting way too much smoke so we did not continue.
Having the goats and chickens was fun and the yard is relaxing and beautiful! Love that we felt secluded in this little oasis yet could easily walk into town for great wine tasting, dinners and shopping.
Sorry you had trouble with the fireplace. Perhaps the flu was not warmed up enough to draw the smoke. You often times have to prime it. I know that is not mentioned in the instructions.
At any rate, we are glad that you enjoyed your stay and our critters who constantly amuse.
We hope you return to Los Olivos again soon.
We loved the animals.
It was a great experience, thanks for sharing your home, animals and garden with us.
Thank you for taking such good care of them as well.
We loved having you.
Thank You April
The four-day stay of four former college roommates at the micro farm was delightful. The house is small but immaculate and very well furnished. The kitchen is modern and very well equipped. Having the goats and chickens to "care for" (we volunteered) was fun tho pretty minimal as watering and chicken feeding is done mechanically. The house is located outside central Los Olivos tho close enough to walk if you are so inclined. April responded quickly to any questions we had.
So glad you and your former collage roommates had such a good time at the Micro Farm. Also thank you for taking such great care of the critters and contacting me with questions. Very helpful.
We would love to have you back again very soon.
The Santa Ynez Valley is an region of exceptional natural beauty and a near perfect Mediterranean climate. It is known for its horse farms, cattle ranches, olive groves, and crop farms as well as many of the nation's finest vineyards. Most definitely come to experience the valley's acclaimed wineries, but take the time to discover its exquisite landscape. Explore the Los Padres National Forest; picnic, hike, or mountain bike among the oaks and pines of the Figueroa Mountain, Lake Cachuma, or Santa Ynez River recreational areas. Discover local flora and fauna at the Sedgwick Reserve, nearly 6,000 pristine acres under the stewardship of the University of California at Santa Barbara. Visit the historic towns of Ballard, Santa Ynez, and Solvang to learn how the traditions of Spain, Denmark, and the American West made their mark on the development of early California. And of course visit the village of Los Olivos, a 19th-century stage coach stop whose Victorian and Old West architecture is now home to dozens of local wine tasting rooms.
