Overview

About the property

Taconic Mountain views! 2 Bedrooms, 1 & 1/2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 4

In the southern tip of the Hudson Valley’s Columbia County, nestled in the Taconic Mountains, is the tri-state corner of New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Boston Corners Brookside in NY is a restored 1932 Cape Cod on 2 acres bordered by a Class A trout stream. This fully furnished, weekend/short term house rental is your opportunity to enjoy the bucolic scenery and activities of the Hudson Valley’s natural beauty. Enjoy Copake, Millerton and Hillsdale NY’s farm stands and Saturday farmers market in the summer and fall, (including milk in glass bottles, fresh eggs and ice cream at the local dairy) dining, four season arts, sports and entertainment venues. Catamount ski area, Brace Mountain trail head and the Taconic Rail Trail are close by, as are golf, horseback riding and a paragliding club! Organized bicycle rides tour the farm and mountain roads our area offers. More area information can be found on our site, bostoncornersbrookside.

Right in the heart of the Hudson Valley/Berkshire corridor, Boston Corners Brookside is within a 30 minute scenic drive (or less) to the many private schools in the area. It is perfect for weekend visits or campus tours.

Tanglewood Music Center is a beautiful 40 minute drive up North Route 22, and just over the Massachusetts border. (We'll share some of our lawn tickets in July)

The Wassaic station of the Metro North Railroad is about 25 minutes away, and Amtrak has a station in nearby Hudson , 40 minutes away. Ask us about local rental car companies.

The history buff will appreciate being near the Roosevelt, Vanderbilt and Martin Van Buren National Historic Sites, and a unique aerodrome.

Art lovers will enjoy local galleries and arts walks as well as Olana and the Thomas Cole home and museum. The Berkshires are minutes away. A very close-by auction house has a monthly sale of antiques, art and Americana.

Staying true to the pre-war period when the house was built, there is plenty of woodwork, and an old fashioned 3 season sun porch. The house is decorated with a nod towards this era, but extremely fast WiFi and Roku streaming television and movies bring modern convenience to your getaway. Utilities, kitchenware and linens are ready in this cottage for a perfect sanctuary for 1 or 2, but will sleep up to 4. The master suite has a queen sized memory foam bed, features skylights for stargazing from your pillows, (with a shade if you want to sleep in) a luxurious extra long, deep soaking tub, and a walk in closet. The downstairs bedroom has a full sized memory foam bed, and the great room has a queen sized sleeper sofa. The large kitchen, comfortable great room and stone patio make this cheerful, cozy home a terrific Northern Dutchess/Columbia County NY destination. Delightful and warm for long weekends and ski season. Please visit our website, bostoncornersbrookside, for more pictures and area information.

Close to NYS Route 22, I-90 and the Taconic State Parkway as well as both the Metro North and Amtrak train lines.

It's on one of the prettiest roads in the Northeast. Private, and close to many Hudson Valley points of interest. Located in the tri-state corner of NY, MA & CT, so you can get a lot in during a short drive!

What makes this cottage unique

This house is renovated to modern standards, yet holds it's 1930's/40's character. The wood work is beautiful!

Notes:
A quiet, cozy spot for nature lovers. Close to outdoor sports, Hudson Valley history, shopping, dining and the arts community, but far enough away for relaxation. The three season sun-porch in the front of the house has enough light for an artist's studio, as does the master bedroom. This home is thoroughly cleaned between stays, but would not be considered hypoallergenic as the owners have a dog. Plenty of room to fish, bird-watch or enjoy the gardens. Bring your bicycles or rent them nearby! Hiking trail heads for the Taconic State Park around the corner on the next road over. Music lovers will enjoy a scenic 40 minute drive to Tanglewood Music Center.

Great Summer Stay!

  • 5 of 5

The entire experience at Boston Corners was exactly what I had hoped for. Picked this property due to close proximity to hiking trails in Taconic Park and the grounds of the home - 2 acres, grill, and fire pit. The house is cozy and acts as a perfect weekend getaway, especially for those from NYC looking to escape the city! All the benefits of camping without any of the discomfort. Beth, the owner, ensured that we had everything we needed in advance of our stay and was very communicative throughout the process of booking through leaving. So glad I discovered this amazing community.

Owner's Response: Thanks Ben! We were delighted you and your friends came to explore and relax at day's end. There are hiking trails here for every ability, and the Alander/Brace trail was an excellent choice. You are welcome back anytime!

The property is paradise!

  • 4 of 5

Great experience and as calm an environment as we have ever experienced. Beth and Mark left us goodies from a local farm. Cream at the top of the milk! Even though it said no pets that doesn't mean there haven't been pets in house. If you have pet allergies this will be a problem. But we only slept inside. Gardens to drink coffee in and hammocks to listen to the active creek in back yard. It's amazing property! AC limited but cool evenings. Great hiking. Area beautiful and very rural. Peace!

Owner's Response: It was wonderful to meet you gracious ladies and we are happy you had a peaceful retreat! Thank you for sharing the perspective of someone with severe allergies. I always ask about food issues, but did not think to ask about other conditions. Our listing has been updated to reflect that while the cottage is thoroughly cleaned between stays, it is not hypoallergenic. You definitely picked a great week to tour the gardens, glad you enjoyed them.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I booked this place as a surprise getaway for my wife of 18 years and myself. All of the previous reviews are spot on. I could not have found a more perfect place. Mark and Beth greeted us upon arrival and left us some goodies as a welcoming gift. The house is well-kept up and clean. We enjoyed having coffee in the sunroom, barbecuing dinners on the grill and sharing a bottle of wine or two by a fire alongside the creek. We ventured out and explored nearby Connecticut and Massachusetts and found a small brewery and several antique shops. Boston Corners Brookstone has a warm and welcoming feel of someone's home and not a rental unit. Thank You again Mark and Beth for sharing your home with us. We would love to come back when everything is in full bloom to appreciate the hard work you put into your garden.

Owner's Response: Thanks Bill! We were happy to assist in your weekend plans. It is wonderful that you and Mrs. B discovered how close Connecticut and Massachusetts are to our corner of New York! The tri-state area is beautiful and has lots to do and see. That you enjoyed some downtime too, sounds perfect. Enjoy your summer, and know you are always welcome to come exploring anytime!

Lovely Cottage

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for a last minute getaway weekend, I wish it could have been longer. Beth and Mark were welcoming and very thoughtful. The house is immaculate and comfortable, I love all the woodwork. I like to cook and had everything I needed in the kitchen. We hiked at Bash Bish Falls and in Taconic State Park and enjoyed relaxing at the house afterwards with a campfire next to the brook. I'd love to see the gardens in bloom in summer but we were very happy to be there to enjoy the fall foliage. I recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet peaceful stay.

Wonderful stay at a gorgeous cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had such a lovely stay at the cottage. The grounds were just right for lazy lounging. We took advantage of that after our hikes at the nearby trails. The gardens are beautiful and set in very natural environment. The stream peaceful. Best of all- the amenities of the home. The home was super clean and had all sorts of small touches that just made you smile. We cooked dinner on the BBQ, ate outside among the gardens, slept on the hammock, played cards in the sunroom. The kitchen had everything for our comfort. Can't wait to get back to the cottage!!
