About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 2

Welcome to the treehouse nestled in the exclusive Hound Ear's Country Club Community. This chalet offers a lovely leafy view for the peak season.

This property has one queen bedroom and a lovely bath with the original round bath and shower. Property completely renovated. This chalet is built around a rocky outcrop with an enormous boulder in the back yard with a bench. This is a great place for a romantic getaway or a girls weekend. This property has a hot tub that sits in the backyard with a lovely view. The kitchen and living area has a great view. You must see it to believe it. Another great aspect of this property is that it is so large there is another chalet on the property. So if you have a few more people that want to join the getaway you can all stay on the same property. So check out 201 Laurel as well.

We Loved It

  • 5 of 5

What a great place, the house was very nice, well appointed and squeky clean. The lot had numerous huge (house size) boulders, the house was nestled in the trees and was really unique and very beautiful. The owners were very accommodating and communication was great. My wife and I did not want to leave. We definitely will do this one again.

Not a great experience

  • 2 of 5

My wife and I visited the Tree House cabin to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary. We arrived to the gated community and was told by the guard that the residence was another 10-15 minutes away. We traveled up winding roads and cliffs and finally arrived to discover that there was very limited to no parking. We also had to hike (in the dark) to the upper level of the property. There was very little lighting and rough terrain but we finally made it to the door with the lockbox. We entered our code and after 3 tries and some help from the neighbors we finally got in. The cabin did not smell clean and the bed was poorly made. We had zero communication with the owner of this property. We were never provided a telephone number if there were any problems.

I think the stay would have been better if we would have gotten a call from the owner after we booked the trip to inform us about these details and address any concerns we had. We then would have been better prepared. To book this stay in faith with only 4 pics and not have any communication with the owners to address the other issues made this a deal breaker for us. The place is small but intimate and definitely would accommodate 2 people. Anymore people would have been claustrophobic. The drive up to the cabin is so treacherous that it discouraged any decision to leave the cabin. Twenty minutes to get out of the community and another 30-40 minutes to find civilization was a bit much! The view was great but the other issues made this a poorly planned trip.

Owner's Response: Hi Cadderick. I am completely baffled by your review. It's exactly 1.2 miles from the Hound Ears gate to this chalet. I can't Imagine why it would take you fifteen minutes to drive that when I frequently walk that route in less time. Treterous terrain and cliffs? The North Carolina mountains don't really sport cliffs. You should visit the Rockies and see actual cliffs. A third of the residence in Hound Ears live there full time and enjoy the close proximity to 12 minutes to downtown Boone a little farther 16 minutes to Blowing Rock and just a tad farthe to lovely Banner Elk. It's unfortunate that you all didn't wander out into the communities. Engles grocery store is just 2.5 miles away for supplies and tons of unique restaurants and shops dotted along highway 105 that the neighborhood is just off of. you would have enjoyed the local residents that are so welcoming to our visitors.. I agree we need more pictures than the seven we have posted. I'll get on that!Had ou called me at the number posted on our listing,I have never had anyone not able to locate our contact number, I could have arranged to have the house lit up for your late arrival. I can imagine what was wrong with the lock box as usually the code I left you is fairl simple to retrieve the key. I'll have it checked out. Always appreciate any feedback. Always striving to make our guest stay better and their experience in Boone and our beautiful Hound Ears Club memorable.

Place was OK

  • 1 of 5

2 lamps were missing bulbs and only 4 bath towels for 2 adults for a 6 night stay. Owners said bulbs would be replaced and more towels added but this never happened. Owners obviously don't care about guests. Would not stay in one of their properties again.

Awesome place

Property is exactly as described and reviewed by others. If you do not have a steady walk, it may be hard to get up the rock steps to the house. It's such a unique property, we loved it. It was only 2 of us and it was plenty of room. Close to lots of things-Boone, Grandfather Mtn., grocery stores, App State etc. Make sure you go to the right house though :). The owners have another home that is directly in front of this one. This one goes up some rather steep steps and around some huge boulders. The view is not to be believed. We were up there just as leaves were changing. Anyone going up the weeks after us, should have an amazing show. Carla was so easy to deal with. I had to keep changing our dates around and Carla was so accommodating. I put photos on facebook and one of my friends wants info on renting this home now. If you're looking for small, cozy and intimate--you have found it.
