About Nawal and Thomas

I am an engineer, my wife is an educator and writer, and both working and living right here in beautiful Colorado.

Nawal and Thomas purchased this house in 2013

Why Nawal and Thomas chose Leadville

My wife and I have both lived and traveled around the US and the world but there’s something about Leadville… it could be that I have strong ties because I was born and raised there for a short time or that many members of my family have at some point lived, worked and are buried in Leadville. My grandfather Doc Kehoe’s name humbly graces the plaque outside St. Vincent’s Hospital and my grandfather French managed and grew the Federal Fish Hatchery still operating just west of Leadville.

So I guess when the opportunity to purchase the Rugged came about, it was a no brainer. Though when we discovered the Rugged Victorian she was beat up, and in need of love and attention. From paint to flooring, blinds to bedding, we set up the Rugged as our home away from home and we are excited to share the Rugged Victorian and Leadville with you.

What makes this house unique

We love the high ceilings in the master suite, the bay windows in the first living area and the skylight in the main living and upstairs bed room. We walk in, and it instantly feels like home.

Charming Home

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay! We arrived to find a bottle of wine, chips and salsa to enjoy. The house was perfect for our family gathering of eight. We enjoyed the outdoor porches and the beautiful mountain views as well as the fenced in yard for our sons dog. The house was charming and very neat and clean and the bedrooms were cozy. Good location and it was easy to walk to downtown to visit excellent shops, restaraunts and bars. Loved our time in Leadville!

Comfortable and roomy!

  • 5 of 5

All 6 of us enjoyed our time in Leadville and your home. It was really nice to find a place with 2 bathrooms, which seems rare! We also enjoyed how spacious the place was. We were able to hang out in the living room and be quite comfortable. Plus, we enjoyed having a decent size kitchen to use.

Thank you!!!

Nice home, quiet location in town

  • 5 of 5

This home hosted my family of 5 (plus one medium sized dog) for two weeks. There was plenty of room for everybody to spread out yet we all got together in the living area or kitchen during family time. Nice fenced yard and deck to sit out on. We walked everywhere in town except for our food shopping at Safeway. Loft area can get a little warm during day in summer. Three parking spaces also a good amenity.

Hi Nawal and Thomas,

Just wanted to say we really enjoyed our stay in the Rugged Victorian a few weeks ago(Jan3-7). Loved the view of the mountains out the windows when it didn't snow. We had a great time skiing and coming to a warm place afterwards.Thank you also for all the little extras like the chips and bottle of wine and all the little items in the pantry. Also really liked the griddle and gas stove! The place was nice and clean and comfortable. Oh, some light bulbs needed changed in the refrigerator and over the stove. Would have done that but didn't see any light bulbs and those places usually take special bulbs. And the neighbors were great, keeping the side of the street scooped out for a place to put the car. Thanks again for a great place to stay. Hope we can come back another time.
