We enjoyed our stay! Beautiful views, comfortable beds and quiet at night, great appliances and cookware, and wonderful hosts. Location was awesome: a perfect setting for a week of acclimating before the Leadville Trail 100 run.
Lots to say for the good on this property. This particular visit reminded us of the quietness of this part of Colorado. Stunning beauty and the night view of the stars were off the charts.

Wonderful weekend
We really enjoyed our weekend at the Escape Hatch. The inside is spacious and comfortable, and the views from the deck are amazing. Sean was a gracious and responsive host. We are already planning our return.
The views were so amazing and this spot had EVERYTHING we could possibly need! The kitchen was very well stocked and we were able to make some really great meals there.
It was quiet, peaceful, and there were lots of hummingbirds! Our children had a blast too! Can’t wait to return again next year. Thank you!
Really close to my brother's house, perfect for a visit. Worked great for my wife and I, two kids and my dad. Everyone got their own bed. Bunks worked good for the kids. Sean was super quick to respond when we accidentally locked ourselves out. Simple learning experience, don't let the kids mess with the electronic door lock! Everything worked and lots of water pesssure! Thanks and we'll stay again!
Rented so adult children, spouse and significant other would have a place to stay while my husband and I were in our RV in Buena Vista. We had a lovely time grilling steak and enjoying the view at this property. Great open concept, clean, wonderful refrigerator, dishwasher and the view from the deck is great for star gazing at night. Would not change a thing and would stay here again. The property manager/host answered my questions in lightening speed and I appreciated that.
We wanted to get out of the heat and bustle of the city during the 4th of July Week, so we headed up to Twin Lakes. We spent most of our time either hiking on the many nearby trails or comfortably lounging in the house and just staring at the lake and mountains during the day or the stars at night.
The house was very comfortable and the kitchen was usually (for a rental) well-appointed. I always bring a good sharp knife and a few other kitchen odds and ends, because I like to cook. I didn't need to break them out here, which was a pleasant surprise.
Our host was very helpful and communicative.
Everything was nice and as expected with one exception. There is a house being built next door and we were not aware of it until after we had left home and on the road. Fortunately, it was only a minor inconvenience but a surprise and would have appreciated knowing about this when we booked it....

Thank you for your review! To clarify, we did provide notification via email on two occasions when we learned of the sporadic construction from a previous guest. Very sorry for any inconvenience.
Spent a white Christmas at this mountain home. Host was extremely responsive to all our questions. Area roads were plowed so we could get out. Great experience overall in a warm cozy house. We would visit again!
We had a great time staying at the escape hatch. Great gateway in the beautiful mountains. Easy access to Twin Lakes for paddle boarding, perfect weather for an amazing white water rafting trip in Buena Vista. Sean was very amenable to getting us all needed information. Would highly recommend!!
Easy drives to Georgetown, Aspen, Buena Vista and everything in between. Pick your activity and it’s a short ride away. Owners were very responsive to questions. Highly recommend.
A great location to enjoy Colorado hiking, fishing, and off roading. Clean cabin with a fully stocked kitchen allows this to be a base of adventure. Great star gazing every night!
The home was a great location away from the busy city. Views are spectacular and within 30 minutes of any outdoor activity. My family of five enjoyed the house. The house had everything you need (except wifi which was my fault for not inquiring beforehand). The owner responded very quickly to any messages. Thank you for a great stay!
We had a wonderful relaxing 4 days away for spring break at The Escape Hatch. The cabin is exactly as described, well appointed kitchen with spices, good pans, coffee maker and all that you need. The bedrooms have darkening shutters, so daytime naps were nice for the kids. It was so dark that you can see millions of stars from the amazing deck at night and enjoy some sun and an amazing view of Mt. Elbert & Twin Lakes for morning coffee, lunch, or happy hour. Our young girls loved the games that were there too, many good memories were made.
The owner, Sean, was very responsive and even reached out early when there was talk of 6ft of snow that might hit the area to be sure we would be able to get to the house and not get stuck. Be sure to follow his directions or be prepared for off road driving that you might not make it through if you follow the Google maps directions, but with Sean's directions it was easy to get there in a Cherokee. Thanks for sharing your great property, it was the perfect place for us.
Great property. Clean, comfortable, and in a very nice setting. Just my son and I this time, but will bring the whole family again soon. Thanks for sharing the Escape Hatch with us for a weekend!
