About Mike and Janice Pryor

After I got married, Mike and I purchased a lot in the Columbine Lake subdivision, just a few minutes from Grand Lake. In 2008, we built our custom home, hoping we could retire there. We designed the home with features I've always wanted: Large kitchen granite countertops, wood burning fireplace, hardwood floors, knotty alder custom cabinets and bathrooms for every bedroom. The Town of Grand Lake is still as charming as I remember and I know you will enjoy it as much as we have.

Growing up in Colorado meant long weekends in the state's mountains. My parents often bundled my three brothers and me into the family's Suburban and headed to Grand Lake for days of exploration. We fished Lake Granby from my dad's 10-foot aluminum boat, hoping for a bite and crossing our fingers that the motor would start again. After a day on the water, we'd head into the Town of Grand Lake for a round of miniature golf and an ice cream treat. As a kid, I loved the town's old west feel. I wanted to spend as much time there as possible.

Not much has changed in Grand Lake since my childhood. The town is still as charming as I remember, and I still want to spend as much time there as possible. After my husband Mike and I married, we bought a lot in the Columbine Lake subdivision. We designed our dream home from the ground up with hardwood floors, a wood-burning fireplace, a large kitchen, and a bathroom for every bedroom so I wouldn't have to share with my brothers when they came to stay with us. We completed construction in 2008, and we hope to live there after we retire. Until that time, we know you will enjoy our cabin and the nostalgic feel of the area as much as we do.

Why Mike and Janice Pryor chose Northwest

Grand Lake is a hidden treasure. It is nestled at the ntrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. Our subdivision of Columbine Lake is a friendly community of quaint cabins surrounding a 45-acre natural lake. Our cabin's back porch is the perfect place for viewing the abundant local wildlife including deer, moose, elk and fox. There's always plenty to do! There are hiking trails, mountain bike terrain, and world-class fishing on the area's lakes and rivers. Take a drive in the alpine tundra above timberline. Have a beer at the historic Grand Lake Lodge. Enjoy a guided pontoon boat tour of Grand Lake. Explore the area on an ATV or on horseback. Winter is a magical time in Grand Lake. There are miles of snowmobile, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trails.

What makes this cabin unique

We call it our 'cabin' but it is really a 2,340 square foot luxury home with modern construction and comfort. The custom touches include high-end finishes like include knotty alder cabinetry, granite countertops, slate tile and stainless steel appliances. The 550 square foot kitchen is fully stocked. A large stone fireplace surrounded by rocking chairs sits on one side of the great room and comfy leather couches around a large-screen television is on the other. Choose from two covered decks or a covered porch to enjoy a morning cup of coffee and the mountain views.

Beautiful property in a perfect setting.

All facilities are in excellent shape and of high quality. Could not ask for a nicer cabin in the woods to spend a few days in.

Beautiful Cabin for a mountain getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 2 adults and 2 young kids stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate our son's birthday. Upon walking into the cabin we were amazed at how large the space was and how updated everything is. It was plenty of space for our family of 4 with room to spare. The kitchen was well stocked and everything in the cabin was very clean. Our kids loved the loft upstairs and called it their "thinking place" where they could go and have some time to themselves. It's only about 4 minutes from town, so easy to go down and play in town. We had a pretty big snowstorm the night before we were going to check out, and Mike and Janice were so flexible in letting us hang around the cabin later that day until the snow stopped and we could safely make it home. We come to Grand Lake usually a couple of times a year and will definitely stay here again!

This home was amazing.

  • 5 of 5

The home was one of the nicest VRBO homes we have stayed in. The kitchen was stocked with almost anything you would need. The only thing we could not find was a tea kettle but there were many other pans to use to warm up the water. The beds were very comfortable. We loved the home and the surrounding area. We would definitely recommend staying at this home. It was wonderful to celebrate Thanksgiving here. It was nice to enjoy football on the large TV and also enjoy warming by the fireplace. We hope to come back again some time

Weekend of Laughter and relaxation

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in November. Been coming to Grand Lake for over a decade and this home fit our needs like a glove. The appointments were not overly done but you felt everything was the best quality. Spent a family weekend that went by way to fast. Fished, shopped, watched some football and had great phone and wi if reception. The saddest thing about the house was leaving it.

Beautiful Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

Three couples who have been coming to the Granby area every November for a reunion decided to find a new place to stay after staying at the same location for 25-plus years. We couldn't have found a more beautiful and well-furnished home to make our change. Mike and Janice were very helpful and answered several pre-visit questions as well as one during our stay -- all within a couple of hours of our emails. Everything was in working order and we ended up cooking more elaborate meals than we planned just because we were inspired to use the lovely, well-stocked kitchen. Lake Columbine is lovely. This will definitely be our number one choice when we return to the area.
