Overview

About the property

Charming 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cabin in pristine setting! 5 minutes to Gondola

The Powder Pad is a charming 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cabin nestled against the wetlands of the Goose Pasture Tarn, 3 miles south of Breckenridge. This one of a kind cabin is extremely secluded and backs to hundreds of acres of wetlands and national forest. What makes this cabin so special is the ponds and streams right out of the back door. You will experience the benefits of being in an extremely private setting - yet still being in such close proximity to Breckenridge.

In addition to the 2 bedrooms, the cabin has a loft with a Queen size murphy bed. The cabin sleeps up to 6 people - via 3 Queen size beds.

After a fun day of skiing, the hot tub will be just the ticket to warm you up. You will find this to be an ultra private hot tub experience in the most serene and private setting underneath the stars.

The Powder Pad's kitchen is stocked with all of the amenenties you may need: crockpot, pots and pans, coffee maker, blender, etc.

The living room features a flatscreen Samsung smart TV and a wood burning stove. We stock the cabin with firewood for our guests. There is nothing better than curling up in front of the fire after a day of mountain fun.

There is so much to do in all of the seasons:

In the winter months, in addition to skiing and snowboarding, you can cross country ski or snow shoe right out the back door. There are many hiking trails near the Powder Pad.

In the summer months, you and your guests will enjoy 3 decks off of the cabin that add to the living space. You can enjoy your morning coffee on the upper back deck, listening to Spruce Creek that runs right through the back yard. The beautiful ponds off of the back of the cabin boast beavers and fish. Grab a fishing pole and take a walk through 'Moose on the Loose' trail right out of the back of the cabin. Convening around the fire pit in the evening with s'mores is the perfect way to end a summer mountain day.

In the Fall, the whole scene around the cabin explodes with shades of gold. The intimate view of the famous Boreas Pass is yours to take in from either of the back decks.

There has been many wildlife spotted from the Powder Pad including our local Moose, Beaver, Deer, Great Blue Heron, Hummingbirds, Osprey, and Geese. All observed from the back deck of the Powder Pad. What will you see when you stay???

If there is anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable, please let us know.

Why Shawn and Kate chose Blue River

We were looking for a property that was close to Breckenridge, yet private and serene. We have found this getaway as a huge blessing when we need a breather from the daily grind. Shawn's favorite season is Winter time and Kate's is the Summer. The Powder Pad is so enjoyable in any season.

What makes this cabin unique

We love the summer time at the Powder Pad because of it's private setting and water features. There is nothing better than falling asleep in the mountains with the sound of a stream to lower your stress level.

We are sure you will fall in love with our charming cabin, just as much as we have.

Charming, rustic and every amenity included in this beautiful mountain cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this cabin for our family of 4 including 2 college kids. The kids had the entire loft area upstairs to spread out and both bedrooms have beautiful views of the backyard and mountains. Our first morning we were greeted by 2 moose playing in the yard! It was amazing! Aside from the charming and rustic decor and high quality feel- the place was spotless and every amenity you can think of was included. It was such a welcome change from most rentals where u have to run to Walmart after a long trip just to get through the first night. Also being just a few miles from Breckenridge yet feeling so secluded - just a perfect set up. We were also close to Hoosier Pass and McCullough’s Gulch for great hiking (and an encounter with 2 mountain goats) as well as the must do bike ride from Vail Pass to Frisco. So many fun things to do and fabulous restaurants in Breck. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home! We could stay there all summer!

2nd visit, just as terrific

  • 5 of 5

This is the 2nd time we’ve stayed at the powder pad & it was like we had never left! The cabin is just as cute and comfortable. Location feels “out there”, yet it’s a short drive to Breck, the grocery store, dining out. Disclaimer-you cannot count on this-but my kids saw a mama and baby moose while we stayed! There is a huge wetlands area behind the cabin, so it’s a very peaceful area to hang out for humans and wildlife!

Beautiful views in a charming lodge!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 loved the Powder Pad for our stay in June. The views from the back of the house are amazing. The kids enjoyed exploring the paths and finding the large beaver den! We also had a moose wander up at dusk.

The house was equipped with all of the modern amenities such as wifi, gas range, fully stocked kitchen and a spacious garage. All of the appliances were in great shape and the bathrooms were spacious and clean.

The cabin's location to Breckenridge was really convenient, It was a 5-10 minute scenic drive into town. The cabin does have neighbors to each side but the back is completely open to the nature preserve.

Thank you Shawn and Kate for sharing your amazing home with us!

Home sweet home Powder Pad

  • 4 of 5

This was an amazing property. We had our 12 and 2 year old boys with us and had plenty of room. We loved how the backyard was secluded and enjoyed the hot tub. It was a home away from home with a beautiful pond. We can’t wait to stay here again!

Perfect cabin, views and location. The owners make you feel like this is your second family home!

  • 5 of 5

This property is so beautifully decorated, has everything you need and plenty of space. Our kids loved it and can’t wait to go back. We wanted to relax and enjoy some snow with the kids. This place is a true gem and we can’t say enough great things. We are truly grateful for this amazing experience and treasure the lifetime memories. We are already planning for another trip this year. Great bedrooms, kitchen, living area and loved making a fire. Played some nice board games by the fire. The owners have magnificent taste and make you feel right at home with their attention to detail when it comes to welcoming you and providing so much of what you need. We HIGHLY recommend this place. Driving into Breckinridge is only 3 miles away and super easy to get around. Carter Park was super close for the kids to sled using the sleds they provided. Love, love, love this perfect getaway!!!
