Geodesic Dome cabin at 9,200 feet on Buffalo Mountain!

Bedrooms 3
Half Baths1
Space 1,900 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 6 nights

About the property

Take advantage of the heart of the best recreation Colorado has to offer-while relaxing in this distinctive and impressive Geodesic Dome. The Dome is a single family house, not a condo or townhouse with noisy neighbors next door-you've got your own space, located on a large private triplex lot across the street from one of the Arapahoe National Forest trail-heads. Large Great Room with a circular fireplace as the centerpiece and gigantic triangle windows facing the southern sky for maximum solar warming. Adjacent dining room seats 6 with a serving window to the full kitchen and pantry.

Our deck will be removed beginning in November and a new one is planned to be added in early spring. With all our snow, it's unusable in the winter anyways!

Views of the valley holding the westerly approach to the Eisenhower Tunnel, the highest vehicular tunnel in the world, highlight the view to the east, while Buffalo Mountain's 12,777 foot majesty provides a stunning vista to the west. The master suite has a king size bed and 32' HD cable TV, private bathroom with shower and large vanity. Both remaining bedrooms contain a full and single bed, accommodating 3. High speed wireless internet. 48' HD TV in living room-DVD/VCR. Stereo w/audio in for ipod/droid connection; Bluetooth music streaming to smartphones along with a USB hookup. Centrally located to Breckenridge, Copper, Keystone, Loveland and Arapahoe Basin. Lake Dillon 3 is miles away. Silverthorne Recreation Center 3 mi. Whole Foods 4 mi. Dispensary 1.5 mi. Loads of private parking.

Why Kevin Joseph chose Silverthorne

So unique! Amazing efficiencies with design and conservation of space. Buckminster Fuller had it right! Take a look at the pictures and imagine yourself in this cozy environment at nearly 10,000 feet, with a roaring fire in the circular fireplace. So quiet, it's hard to believe I-70 is 2 miles away. Great access. Always well plowed roads and driveway.

Beautiful unique house with a nice responsive owner!

  • 5 of 5

There were 10 of us that managed to fit just fine in the Dome. (One person slept on a couch, but it was comfortable!). This is a really nice house, it was clean and had all the kitchen and bathroom supplies we needed. You get some great sunlight in the evenings, which could make it a little warm in the summer, but I expect there's air conditioning too. The heaters were nice and toasty during the winter.

The house is about a 30 min drive from the Vail slopes, that's where we went snowboarding. Kevin, the owner, was great to deal with and responded almost immediately.

Only one small issue was that the key was mailed to us, and then we had to mail it back after, would have been much more convenient to have a secure lockbox on the property, or one of those code-enabled door locks. IglooHome is a company I've seen recently that's helping rental homes with secure ways for their guests to enter!

The house was definitely worth going back to!

Unique and wonderfully maintained

  • 5 of 5

The Dome is a great place to stay. There were only four of us, but it would easily and comfortably sleep many more. Everything was clean and in great shape. It was very easy to get to many of the surrounding ski resorts and nearby a bunch of breweries and restaurants.

Charming & unique home in close proximity to all Summit county has to offer!

  • 5 of 5

Our first impression of The Dome was cozy and comfortable. There was plenty of room for our large family to hang out yet close enough to encourage interactive conversation & fun. We had plenty of parking, making it convenient for all of us to come and go as we chose...not to mention how easy it is to get to all the slopes & activities in the area. The circular wood fireplace was kept busy during our winter stay and made for some soothing ambience at night.

Kevin was great to work with and followed up quickly to all contact made with him.

The Dome helped make our stay unforgettable!

Perfect for our Family Summer Hiking Trip

  • 5 of 5

First, Kevin was excellent to work with. We were somewhat "last minute," and he handled all the details very well. "The Dome" is just such a wonderfully unique property. The bedrooms were all clean and roomy; the mattresses were very new and supportive. We made full use of the kitchen, which had all needed pans and utensils. The large communal space is so well furnished. We could all relax and "own" our own chair, sofa or love-seat. We didn't need to make use of the central fireplace, but it would be a big bonus in the winter after a long day on the slopes. We are a family of hikers, and we could just walk out the front door and make use of an extensive trail system. I would highly recommend this particular place and its location.
