About Eric Hanscom
We are also the owners of Thai-West Resort in Thailand, and enjoy splitting out time between the desert and a tropical island off Krabi, Thailand.

Why Eric Hanscom chose Borrego Springs
We have always loved the desert, and bought this house as a fixer, then took five years to turn it into what it is today.
What makes this House unique
We are located (intentionally) at the far edge of the town of Borrego Springs, to have as much of the Anza Borrego State Park surrounding us as possible. The stargazing out here is unsurpassed in the United States, and there are many fun things to do once you get here. Here are a couple of YouTube videos on our place:

Great Get Away
Great property, great get away location
Thank you Vincent; glad you enjoyed your stay. You would be welcome back any time you want, and hopefully next year we will have a better wildflower season than this dry year afforded!
Great Place To Relax Or Explore
Well laid out property, with enough privacy and openness to take in the views. Right up against the state park, lots of potential for hikes in the backyard. Big courtyard / front yard space to wander through and enjoy camp fires. Home has nice bathroom and master bedroom. Kitchen is well equipped and capable for cooking and large dining table. Large living space to hang out and relax. Pool and hot tub are a nice luxury to indulge it, as well as the platform to view the stars. The host (in nearby studio) was very helpful and gave us as much privacy as we wanted.
Only inconvenience was the hot water took some time to come. So plan accordingly.
Definitely would like to rent again.
Hi Greg, Thanks for taking the time to review. The problem with the hot water has been, I assume, a problem that has been with this house since it was originally built in the 1940's. My guess is that the pipe insulation wasn't exactly great back then. The only saving grace is that the water that runs before you get hot water goes into our gray water system that waters the yard, so it isn't wasted. Glad again that you enjoyed your stay.
Amazing! Perfect family getaway in the desert
We had an absolutely amazing stay at Borrego Palms. The house is larger than I expected, and it was perfect for our family: myself, my husband, our 3 year old daughter, and my mother. The photos seemed to show bunk beds in the second room, but there was a queen (or full) size bed in the smaller bedroom and a queen and twin in the larger room. Kitchen is huge! Lots of space in the living room too. It was pretry cold and windy outside so we spent most of the time indoors but we didn't mind. I'd go back. I'm even considering a trip to Thailand to check out the owners other property :)
Thanks for the comments. Good point on the bunk beds. We will update our photos. No kidding on the cold weather! This winter has been brutally cold, but no rain (I'm always willing to trade cold weather for lots of rain, which means good wildflowers)!
Always enjoy staying here.
Dennis always does a great job getting it ready for guests.
Beautiful home and view, has alot of updates that are really nice.
I stayed here with my family of four for a week and we loved it not only is the house beautiful and in a perfect location but this town is a nice laid back place to vacation and/or live. Really words can't describe how much we enjoyed our stay, definitely didn't wanna leave.
Wonderful quiet place
This house was a pleasant surprise to us as we enjoyed the desert out back, the cactus garden out front and the well appointed house amongst the three of us for 2 weeks. The skies were dark at night for star gazing and the out of the way location was quiet and comforting. Dennis, the caretaker was there when we needed him but unobtrusive otherwise. Overall it was a very pleasant experience.
This rental is part of a duplex, the other half of which is a studio. It is nearby the town of Borrego Springs, CA, which has many art galleries, the state park visitor center, and other activities. It is also very close to the Galleta Meadows sculptures. We have our own YouTube Channel, where you can see more about Borrego Palms Desert Vacation Home and the Borrego Springs area in general. Also, we do not allow inside pets. It is due to an allergy of the owner's son, so we cannot make exceptions. Sorry about that! Please note: we do NOT accept foreign checks (way too many scammers) so if you want to stay here, please book through VRBO.
No pets allowed.
