Buddha said that when you can see 100 shades of green, you have truly reached heaven. This is the feeling you will have at Hale Kuleana, our beautiful tropical jungle paradise home nestled in the Wainiha River Valley. Lush vegetation surrounds you in all directions, with an unobstructed view of the sights and sounds of the Wainiha River. The 3 bedroom, 2 bath house is private, comfortable, and a perfect place to relax, reflect and rejuvenate. The 600 square foot master suite on the second floor has its own tub, shower and lanai. Downstairs are two more bedrooms with new bamboo flooring, full bath, a large open living room, complete kitchen, and dining area. There is also a screened-in lanai with a large dining table, sitting area and hammock.

Near some of the most beautiful spots on the entire island and yet with so much to see comfortably at your own doorstep, you may not want to leave the house for days on end. Stare out at Wainiha Mountain, sit along the river, lounge or dine on the large lanais, nap in the hammock, or relax in the hot tub. Only a few miles to the west are Tunnels and Ke'e, two of the most scenic beaches on Kauai. A short drive east takes you to Lumahai and Kahalahala beaches, and the quaint town of Hanalei with its restaurants, shopping, farmer’s market and perfectly shaped crescent bay.

100 Shades of Green—Hale Kuleana is a tropical paradise. It is very private, but there are neighbors and a shared driveway. It is best suited for couples and families who enjoy the peace and quiet that nature provides.

If a guest should have to cancel we will make reasonable efforts to re-rent the property, but this may not be possible. If a replacement tenant cannot be found the refund policy is as follows:

• Within 30 days of Check-in Date, all monies paid to date will be forfeited.

Gano was amazing to work with. He went out of his way to provide us with his own version of his insider's guide on what to do and where to eat on Kauai. The house is absolutely amazing. It's a great place to unwind, escape reality and enjoy nature.

Secluded yet convenient. Huge lanai. Experienced, organized hosts. Can't wait to be back.

I've visited Hawaii mostly yearly or twice a year since my childhood. 100 Shades of Green is my favorite rental home of all the homes I've stayed at. Here's why:

-The house is clean and renovated. (This is rare in the tropics/on islands/near beaches.)

-The lanai is completely screened (fun to watch the bright green geckos playing on the outside of the screen), large (6-person dining table; lounge area with sofa/chairs/coffee table; and large durable hammock that I fell asleep in!), and has overhead fans (much needed in the August humidity). We spent most of our evenings in the lounge area of the lanai.

-The kitchen and all its appliances, as well as the outdoor gas grill, are all high-quality and functional. We cooked almost every meal - at least two meals a day - and never once came upon a broken tool (rare for a rental house!).

-The stone floor of the master shower is perfect for post-beach showers. (There is an outdoor shower, too, but we were never sandy enough so we went straight to the master.)

-The hosts are clearly experienced - their responsiveness, helpfulness, and organization made a huge difference.

-We referenced their homemade "Kauai Guide" more than any guidebook throughout our trip. (They emailed us a copy after booking, and a hard copy was also available at the house.) The guide provided us with meticulously detailed instructions to get to the house, as well as a ton of non-touristy, local-recommended spots all around the island that we wouldn't have known about otherwise. Best of all, the guide included color photos for everything, including a photo at each turn in the driving directions so there was no way we could've had trouble finding the house.

-The backyard view is gorgeous: citrus plants and palm trees lining the lawn which slopes down to a stream, with a simple green mountain backdrop reminiscent of the NaPali coastline on a smaller scale.

-The house feels (and is) secluded and is in the jungle, yet it's only a 5-minute drive to the beaches and nearest town. Kauai's north shore has sadly become much more touristy in the last 10 years, yet we were able to escape the noise and remain close to the convenience at the same time.

Summary: a perfect honeymoon! There are three time we'll bring my whole family. Thank you very much, Steve and Gano.

Amazing Amazing Amazing

We love staying at Riverside Tranquility. We took our two boys there they had the best time hanging out in the screened room with all the surfboards... one important thing to remember is to wear mosquito repellent quite a few mosquitoes near the river. The house was awesome had all new appliances wood floors the Tranquility at night was the best hearing the river and the rain, we all slept so well. thank you so much Gano and Steve for letting us stay in your beautiful home.

Quiet perfection in paradise

If you are looking to unwind immersed in the beauty of the north shore, this is your spot! The pictures paint an accurate portrait, but you have to see it to truly appreciate this stunning property. The master is huge and comfortable. There are two singles in one of the downstairs bedrooms which isn't shown in the picture and the other downstairs bedroom has one larger bed and limited natural light. We enjoyed bananas from the tree outside, star watching from the hot tub, quick trips to amazing beaches and hanging out on the spacious, screened lanai (a few mosquitos still get in of course, so bring bug spray!) It's important to note that there is another rental a stone's throw from the kitchen side behind a screen of foliage, so there is an expectation for quiet especially in early AM and night time. Not at all a problem for our small family of three, but not a match for those wishing to party on the lanai until the wee hours!

Gano was a great host who provided a welcome book full of tips and helpers and was always quick to answer questions. It was by far our favorite of the 3 Airbnb/VRBO homes we stayed in around the island. I would gladly board a plane and head back this minute!

The house is just like in the photos and is set on a side road in a river valley but close enough to the charming town of Hanalei for groceries, restaurants etc. We picked the most delicious papaya from the yard! The views of the river and mountains are stunning. After spending a week on Kauai and exploring every corner, we both agreed that Hanalei was by far our favorite spot on the island.. from the lush vegetation, to the beautiful homes to the best places to eat and shop. The owner Gano is extremely responsive and super helpful. It felt like we were staying at a friend's home. Would highly recommend.

The house is situated six tenths of a mile up the beautiful Wainiha River Valley. It is like a walk back in time to the way Kauai used to be. You'll want to walk along this road at different times of day to enjoy the views and the vegetation of the valley. Just two miles west are many beaches including Haena State Park, Tunnels Beach (featuring great snorkeling with views of the famous Makana mountain peak) and in another mile you’ll be at the end of the road at Ke’e Beach and the start of the Kalalau trail and the NaPali Coast. To the east, you have Kahalahala Beach, Hanalei Bay and the charming town of Hanalei all within three miles. Swimming, body boarding, snorkeling, hiking, kayaking, ziplining, kite surfing and more are in abundance on the lush North Shore. Other beautiful northshore beaches nearby include: Hideaways, Queens Bath, Anini, Secret, Kalihiwai, Larsens, and Moloaa Bay. The historic Limahuli Gardens are just 3 miles away and give you a glimpse of Hawaii’s past, as well as providing amazing views of the Limahuli Valley.
