About the property

Jungle house 0.6 miles from the ocean sleeps 4 with river and mountain views

Buddha said that when you can see 100 shades of green, you have truly reached heaven. This is the feeling you will have at Hale Kuleana, our beautiful tropical jungle paradise home nestled in the Wainiha River Valley. Lush vegetation surrounds you in all directions, with an unobstructed view of the sights and sounds of the Wainiha River. The 3 bedroom, 2 bath house is private, comfortable, and a perfect place to relax, reflect and rejuvenate. The 600 square foot master suite on the second floor has its own tub, shower and lanai. Downstairs are two more bedrooms with new bamboo flooring, full bath, a large open living room, complete kitchen, and dining area. There is also a screened-in lanai with a large dining table, sitting area and hammock.

Near some of the most beautiful spots on the entire island and yet with so much to see comfortably at your own doorstep, you may not want to leave the house for days on end. Stare out at Wainiha Mountain, sit along the river, lounge or dine on the large lanais, nap in the hammock, or relax in the hot tub. Only a few miles to the west are Tunnels and Ke'e, two of the most scenic beaches on Kauai. A short drive east takes you to Lumahai and Kahalahala beaches, and the quaint town of Hanalei with its restaurants, shopping, farmer’s market and perfectly shaped crescent bay.

100 Shades of Green—Hale Kuleana is a tropical paradise. It is very private, but there are neighbors and a shared driveway. It is best suited for couples and families who enjoy the peace and quiet that nature provides.

The PERFECT vacation rental

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here 9 years ago and I still think about it :) In fact we're not able to go back just yet because our daughter is still too little to travel that far to Hawaii but I was just reminiscing and decided to look to see if it's still a rental property. This house is amazing!! The views, the quietness, the sounds of nature are all around you. Waking in the morning with a cup of coffee and sitting out on the back patio doesn't get any better than this. And all of kauai's best is right around you. I just hope it's still available for rent when we get the chance to go back!! (The date I had to choose above is not the true date of our arrival....there was no option to date back that far)

My husband and I met the prior owners of this property on our honeymoon 15 years ago and told us that when we came back, we had to stay. I never forgot the name "100 Shades of Green." We are so happy we found it when we planned our trip back, but this time with our kids. The property was stunning, the house beautiful and just perfectly furnished. It's a drive to get to the south side of the island, but it was no problem for us because we prefer the north side anyway. We would go back in a heartbeat. I almost hate to tell people that to save the secret for ourselves! Thank you for a WONDERFUL vacation!

Hidden treasure near Hanalei

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed a week-long stay at 100 Shades of Green in December. We appreciated the beautiful garden and the sound of the river at night. The upstairs master bedroom is a beautiful space. House is well maintained, clean and free of clutter. We could easily cook in the full kitchen and launder beach towels and rain-soaked clothes in the washer/dryer. The screened in outdoor dining and lounging area was a perfect space - with a comfortable hammock and dining table overlooking the river. It protected us from the mosquitos in an indoor/outdoor space. We didn't use the two downstairs bedrooms - but realize the house would be great for two couples (and 2 kids). The outdoor shower was great to have when getting back from the beach before using the hot tub. On damp days, there could be a slight mildew smell in the downstairs area of the house -- but not enough to be bothersome. The owners were great about communicating - even providing their own "guide to the island" with helpful tips on favorite restaurants, places to see and where to find parking at special beaches. We loved our stay -- and the feeling of "being away from it all." Much better than being in condo-land!

Beautiful Home in the Perfect Location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were fortunate enough to be able to stay at 100 Shades of Green for the second leg of our Hawaiian honeymoon. We knew we wanted to stay on the North shore because of the beautiful scenery and more intimate setting. Located on a residential street with panoramic views of the mountainous rain forest, this home is the perfect spot for people looking for a relaxing getaway. The home is very spacious and has everything you need and more to really feel at home. We enjoyed taking in the views of the mountains from the hot tub and master suite balcony. In our opinion the best beaches and restaurants on the island are within a 20 minute drive of this house. We fell in love with the town of Hanalei which is just down the road. To top it all off, Gano was a pleasure to rent through and provided numerous helpful resources to ensure we enjoyed our stay. We hope we have an opportunity to stay in this lovely home again!

Transport yourself to tranquility

  • 5 of 5

Utterly amazing! One of a kind property! House is inviting, updated, comfortable, CLEAN, and set in the midst of a stunning creation of peacefulness and calm. Kitchen and baths are modern and comfortable. Bedrooms spacious, master is very large. Large sloping yard to the river.

The owners carry customer service to a new height. Responsive, clear communication. Detailed driving instructions aa well as other instructions. Great recommendations for dining, shopping, groceries, and fun activities. We certainly have not experienced anything that compares to 100 Shades of Green. One feels as if you have been transported to your own, private garden, with all the wants of civilization minutes away.

Beach gear was waiting to be used. Beds comfy, towel luxurious, as was bedding. Just an amazing place. Owners pride and professionalism is evident from the first email, which was answered promptly, to the final follow-up contact. 100 Shades of Green is one of a kind and a treasure.

Peaceful, Beautiful up to date home!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent part of our honeymoon at 100 Shades of Green. It was so peaceful and relaxing. It rains a good bit on the North Shore, I loved falling asleep and waking up to rain showers. After a early morning hours the sun would peak through the mountains and it was beautiful! I loved hearing the birds, sounds of the river and even the roosters :)

This house its fairly close to several restaurants. It's only about 3 to 5 miles, but will take you 20 minutes due to the super curvy roads and speed limits (which you will want to abide). Sushi Girl is 5 min away and delicious!

The house is updated with everything you could want. Beautiful decor, plenty of room, clean, loved the kitchen! Towels were provided, bug spray- snorkeling equipment was left from previous guest, which worked out great for us!

I really hope to be able to return one day, we said our vows to each other on Ke'e Beach not too far away, so this home and the North Shore in general will always be a special place to us.

Also- Working with the owners was seamless. They provided information in a timely manner as well as detailed extra info just for our visit.
