Windcliff Estates House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, Sleeps 8

Cedar Upper, the highest residence on Ram’s Horn Mountain, is the pinnacle penthouse at prestigious Windcliff Estates. Securely anchored to the rocks of the Ram’s Horn, Cedar Upper stands at 9,000 feet. That’s 1.7 miles high in the sky above mean sea level! And, perfectly-centered in your field of view, Long’s Peak (14,255’) towers yet another mile into the crystal blue Colorado Sky. Long’s Peak is the tallest of the great mountain masses in Rocky Mountain National Park, Windcliff’s neighbor, and is drum major for the stately parade of mountain peaks marching north to south to form America’s western Continental Divide. Meet these mountains. After all, it seems you are close enough to shake hands. They are Mount Meeker, the Chief’s Head, McHenry’s Peak, Powell Peak, Taylor, Otis, Hallet, Flattop, Notchtop and Gabletop. Glaciers, cirques, rocks, and rills adorn their slopes. Massive forests creep up to the tree line. These peaks, dappled or packed with snow year ‘round, constitute the majestic “Front Range” of the Rocky Mountains. Pick a deck. There is a trilogy of west-facing decks at Cedar Upper. Your view from any of the three is one of the singularly-most-spectacular views from any deck or vantage point anywhere in the world! Sit for a spell. Beautiful, towering pines brush the railings of this top-floor duplex. Birds settle in to serenade your reverie.

The great world outside is reflected in the massive scale of Cedar Upper. Soaring beamed ceilings rise to meet clerestory windows and the sky they hold at bay. Oversized furnishings compliment the scale of your surroundings. Great slabs of rock frame the wood-burning fireplace. The kitchen, bar, and dining suites offer every amenity. Two master king suites make every visit a royal occasion. The third ensuite, mountain-view bedroom is perfect for the princes or princesses in your entourage. Antiques, artifacts, and art indicative of Colorado and her past adorn Cedar Upper like a fine museum.

Step out back at Cedar Upper and touch the cool, granite mass of Ram’s Horn Mountain. Gnarly roots of stately trees grip the rocky ledges. Chipmunks and squirrels dart through the undergrowth. Aspens quake. A torrent of water spilling over the rocks of the Ram’s Horn splashes into a pool at your feet. Walk the winding path to the northeast extremity of Cedar Upper where a hot tub nestles among the rocks and trees awaiting your pleasure. No other hot tub anywhere offers more spectacular views of this wondrous realm.

And what you can see by day is only a hint of what you can envision when night has fallen. The unbelievably clear sky of Colorado welcomes a host of stars and planets as you have likely never seen them. At Cedar Upper you are closer and more attuned to the universe and its majesty. Billions of galaxies appearing as but pin pricks of light illuminate both the night sky and your wondering soul. Meteors streak to destinations unknown. And, you can read a book by the light of the moon when it is of a mind to be full.

Lest we forget, you have likely come to Cedar Upper as a base to enjoy the multitude of offerings within easy reach of Windcliff. Not just in sight but within easy reach, the 400 square miles of magnificent Rocky Mountain National Park beckon with myriad roads, trails, lakes, and torrents. And, the quaint visitor hub of Estes Park nestled nearby offers shops of every ilk, creative dining, and attractions galore. But, if you were to choose to stay anchored at the summit and never venture beyond the majestic confines of Cedar Upper during the course of your stay, we would understand. And, so would God.

Lucky are those who have experienced Cedar Upper and left part of their hearts and their thoughts behind…….

• “We never get tired of coming to this perfect retreat.”

• “We would come back a million times.”

• “We can’t wait for our next visit.”

• “What stunning views.”

• “Thank you for providing the perfect place for our Rocky Mountain Adventure.”

• We will never forget this incredible place. WOW!”

• Early every morning we saw a cinnamon-colored bear.”

• “Our hearts are still thumping.”

• We enjoyed dinners in the presence of awesome sunsets and starry nights.”

• “What an amazing time with Gods’ Creation.”

• “Just phenomenal.”

• “I don’t want to go home.”

Although Estes Park [Rocky Mountain National Park’s gateway community] is only 15 minutes distant by car, you will always feel securely tucked away at “Cedar Upper” --- separated from the “hustle and bustle” of people and their traffic. The Windcliff enclave embracing the “Cedar Upper” residence is a private residential community comprising 260 acres on the sunny western slopes of Ram’s Horn Mountain. It is served by a single entrance to private roads with no through streets or heavy traffic. It is truly a world apart!

Adventure, views and comfort

  • 5 of 5

The views and comfort of this vacation home are unbeatable. Perfect view of Long's peak from all windows. Windcliff is across street from YMCA where we did horse back riding twice during the week. We also walked to end of upper road and climbed to Teddy's Teeth on Ram's Horn Mountain. Not a groomed trail, but very fun if you like adventure. I loved the location, however it is a mountain side house and does take 5-10 minutes to do the switch backs up to it. It is the highest house in Windcliff. There is a lower level house that may be occupied by other guests. My only criticism is that is stated to have Wi-Fi and it is poor - apparently the signal goes in and out. New washer and dryer and refrigerator. Nice furnishings. Newer hot tub. We rented upper and lower for 12 people - the whole family from 5 - 88 years in age. All had a great time.

Breathtaking views!

  • 5 of 5

We brought four of our grandchildren for a long weekend and we all loved this place! We didn't leave the property for most of the weekend, and everyone was happy. We hope to be back with the rest of the family someday. Everything we needed was there....and more!

View (Long's Peak)

Whatever time of year you come, you will see spectacular wildlife. Don't be surprised when you see a herd of elk slowly moving across the road, or even in downtown Estes Park. Other large animals like deer, black bear and moose are often seen at Windcliff and around Estes Park.

Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, Estes Park is the gateway to the Rocky Mountain National Park. Estes Park offers great shopping and outdoor adventures as well as great food and fun. Check the Estes Park Visitors Center for one of the many events and festivals scheduled.
