We had a good family vacation overall, and the beachfront location was definitely a highlight. The home was clean, the four bedrooms and three bathrooms worked well for our group, and beach access was very convenient.A few things kept this from being a five-star stay. The floor throughout the downstairs master bedroom felt soft and spongy, as though the subfloor may need attention. While the home sleeps a larger group, the indoor living area and dining table felt undersized if weather kept everyone inside. We also experienced internet issues during our stay.Communication was our biggest frustration. A parking permit issue resulted in higher campground parking fees because our reply apparently went to a spam folder and there was no follow-up before the permits were processed. Two of our vehicles were also issued permits for longer stays than we had requested, resulting in additional campground charges. One thing future renters should know is that Ocean Lakes is much denser than we expected. During peak summer, the streets are narrow, the homes are very close together, and the beach directly in front of the campground becomes extremely crowded. Families looking for a lively campground atmosphere will probably enjoy it but those seeking a quieter beach experience may want to keep that in mind.Overall, we enjoyed our stay and made great family memories. With a few maintenance improvements and more proactive communication, this would have been an easy five-star stay.
