Impressive 250 degree overlook from the Foothills near Garden of the Gods

This very unique home has THREE OPTIONS!

Option One:

Most of the year, the spacious (2,500sqft) Lower Walkout Level is available while homeowners reside on the main upper level. It sleeps 13 people.

Option Two:

For SPECIAL WEEKS of the year (AFA Graduation, July 4th, and other 7 day rentals on request), the whole home (5,700 sqft) is available for up to 15 guests. It includes the lower level and the main level. Both levels have magnificent views, spacious living areas, and are wonderfully appointed. The studio apartment is not included with this option.

Option Three:

This newly added industrial themed studio apartment (1,000 sqft) under the garage sleeps 4 people. It is available for extra large groups when combined with the other rentals or can be rented separately.

This new and luxurious Tuscan home provides spectacular views overlooking the city of Colorado Springs, the Front Range, and the mountains. Located on the northwest side of Colorado Springs, south of the Air Force Academy in a safe and quiet neighborhood, this beautiful home is near Flying W Ranch (working to reopen), Glen Eyrie Castle, and Garden of the Gods Park. Old Colorado City, the Cog Rail to Pikes Peak, and the Manitou incline are also nearby.

Option One: The “Lower Walkout Level” comfortably accommodates up to 13 people with its own living/kitchen great room. The kitchen is fully stocked (large and small appliances), has a walk-in pantry, and an island with 2 stools. The leather couches are perfect for relaxing, conversing, or watching the large screen Smart TV hooked up with a DVD player and a PlayStation 3 (just bring your own games).

This level has 4 large lovely bedrooms. The first has a castle mural painted in the round turret near an adjustable Tempur-Pedic full-size bed. The Master bedroom has a massive king size bed and its own dressing table. A third bedroom features a queen bed and a double/single bunk bed, while the fourth bedroom has a queen bed, a trundle with two twin beds, and a desk for laptops. Each bedroom has its own roomy closet.

The two full bathrooms have double vanities and Tuscan style rain shower/bathtubs. When you need a break or want some entertainment, there's a separate game room with a high quality Ping-Pong or Pool table. A front loading high efficiency stacked washer and dryer are available as well. The "Lower Walkout Level" has about 2,400 sqft of living space.

You'll love living outside too on our large fully covered arched patio with a propane grill and outdoor seating from which to take in the morning sunrise or the twinkling river of city lights at night. Our neighborhood deer have been known to visit and pose for photos right there in front of the stone wall!

Option Two: The whole house includes the lower level just described and the main level where owners usually reside, and sleeps 15 guests. You'll step into the travertine marble entryway with exquisite marble columns opening to a great room featuring a floor to ceiling stone gas fireplace. It’s cozy and comfortable for both conversation or enjoying the large screen smart TV. A dream kitchen beckons and has everything needed for cooking up memorable meals. The professional series stove has large and small ovens, and a griddle as well as the 4 large burners. Take advantage of the ample counter space and the elevated center island. Watch the sunrise or see the mountain shadows slide across the city from the dining nook furnished with a unique table & chairs all hand painted by the artist/owner.

The master retreat is tastefully filled with an antique bedroom set and has a private sitting room in the adjoining round turret for those treasured “tete a tetes”! More travertine awaits you in the luxurious master bath with a large whirlpool tub and a steamy rain shower. There's a double sink vanity and private toilet area.

On this main level, there’s also an office/laundry room, a powder room, and an amazing partially covered deck with wrought iron railings, a professional TEC Thermal IR Grill, and comfortable seating from which to admire the mesmerizing view spread out before your eyes. With binoculars, we’ve observed Big Horn sheep, lynx, and foxes lounging and frolicking on the foothills. Plenty of deer, finches, magpies, and other birds share our surroundings as well as the more elusive eagles and falcons.

A large bonus room in an upstairs tower makes a good retreat for playing games, doing puzzles or crafts. Through an ornate wrought iron door, you can step out on our “Juliet” balcony for a bird’s eye view of the landscape.

Option Three: An industrial themed studio apartment under the garage sleeps 4 people. This new and fun space features concrete ceilings, half stone walls, and custom Edison bulb light fixtures. It's light and open, welcoming and comfortable. There's a king wall bed that's easily raised and lowered. Heavy privacy curtains can be drawn around it at night. A daybed with a pop up trundle sleeps 2 more people.

The bathroom has a walk in shower, double sink vanity, private toilet, and a closet.

The kitchen area has a microwave/convection oven, a 2 burner induction stovetop, a large refrigerator, dishwasher, and a butcher block island. The seating area is elevated to maximize the great views from the windows.

A large screen Smart TV with a blue ray player are in the comfortable living area along with a long desk and rolling chair. Through a sliding barn door is a small room with a Precor treadmill from which you can watch TV as well. This unit has a laundry closet and a walk in pantry.

While being totally private with its own wheelchair friendly entrance, it can adjoin the lower level through a lockable door.

All three options will make your time in Colorado Springs relaxing and memorable.

About Joan and Bryan Gibson

Natives of Wisconsin, Bryan and Joan Gibson moved to the Springs after a stay of 6 years in Phoenix. Both taught in public and Christian schools for many years, Bryan in the science and math fields and Joan as an art teacher. Now they pursue their interests in art (the home showcases a mural and hand painted furniture by Joan), photography, and astronomy (just ask Bryan for a 'star party' from the deck!). Now, semi-retired, Bryan's an Adjunct Science/Mathematics Professor for a local college and host the local Astrophotography group for the Springs. They have 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren who live in Arizona and California. Bryan also enjoys artisan bread making and custom roasts his own coffee. If you're a coffee lover ask for a cup of what he believes is the world's best roasted coffee beans (Kenya and Kona)!

Why Joan and Bryan Gibson chose Colorado Springs

Why Colorado Springs? Compared to the extreme cold of Wisconsin winters and the extreme heat of Arizona summers, coming to Colorado felt like Goldilocks landing in the 'just right' state! We love it here with its mild and sunny, yet variable seasons. We located to the foothills on the city's northwest side to be near Bryan's job as a photographer/videographer and eLearning developer for an international brain training company. Our home was chosen for its views of the city and the mountains. In 2012, the Waldo Canyon Wildfire took our original home as well as those in our immediate and extended neighborhood. After nearly 2 years, our neighborhood is almost 100% rebuilt and is beautiful. We were able to move 'back home' in 2014 and are enjoying our new dream house. While we occupy the main level, we've decided to use the lower level walkout for when our family gathers and to share with others desiring a spectacular home away from home in beautiful Colorado Springs. For four special weeks during the year we are making our entire home available for use by the Air Force Academy parents or other large family groups who need a nice place to stay in Colorado Springs. For most of the remaining balance of the year, the Lower Walkout Level will be available for those needing a very nice place to stay, at a moderate price, for a family of up to 13 individuals.

What makes this house unique

Great location and breathtaking views! A quiet, safe, and newly rebuilt neighborhood that's minutes from the most visited (free admission) park in all of Colorado...Garden of the Gods, as well as Flying W Ranch (not yet reopened), and the Navigator headquarters at Glen Eyrie with its beautiful and historic castle. Not much further south is Old Colorado City with its unique shops and eateries, Manitou Springs with its shopping and the challenging incline, the Barr Trail, and the Cog Rail up to Pike's Peak. Many popular destinations in Colorado Springs like the Olympic Training Center, the beautiful Broadmoor Resort, the Air Force Academy, Focus on the Family, and the unique downtown are easily accessible with I-25 a mere 3.5 miles away. Denver and all it offers is only an hour to the north.

Built in an impressive Tuscan style, this new home has a tower, a turret, stone arches, a water fountain, an easy access circular driveway, and a wheelchair accessible private entrance to the lower walkout level. It's the perfect place to keep the family together for weddings, reunions, graduations, or vacations. We'll leave the lights on and the welcome mat ready!

PERFECT PRE WEDDING STAY

We rented the lower level of Bryan & Joan's home to use prior to our daughter's wedding. Everyone enjoyed their beautiful home. Everything was so luxurious and comfortable. We loved that our family could stay in one place; not spread all over different hotel rooms. The view was amazing day or night. Close to Garden of the Gods. Staying here was exactly what we needed, relaxing and perfect!

Fantastic space for friends - amazing views!

This home is absolutely beautiful and Brian and Joan are warm and welcoming hosts! We had a fantastic time renting the lower walkout level for a USAFA reunion. The home offers more than ample common space as well as private rooms, which was perfect for our group. We especially loved the walkout patio and the scenic views while enjoying the cool Colorado evenings! Thanks for sharing your home and for your part in making our reunion a wonderful experience!

Wonderful place and location!

Our stay in the Tuscan home couldn't have been better! It was perfect for my family with our 4 married children, and 2 grandchildren. There was lots of room for us to be together. We really enjoyed the ping pong and pool tables, and the other games available there. The kitchen was very well equipped for our meals. The location was perfect for the activities we had planned. If you stay here, you will not be disappointed! I hope we get to go back sometime! Thanks Joan and Bryan!

An absolutely beautiful mountainside home

Our large group drove up from Texas and arrived on Wednesday night to a beautiful home on a mountainside in Colorado Springs. We found the house with very little effort. Our host was there to greet us, we unloaded our luggage into spacious rooms, And had dinner at a local restaurant after a long trip.there was parking space available for all three of our vehicles, and we found our way down around the house to or own entrance, as the owners live upstairs. Neither they nor we were disturbed by one another for the duration of our visit. There were enough bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate our entire group of nine people. Some of the kids enjoyed ping-pong, and there were other games available including a pool table which we didn't have time to use. The kitchen was lovely. The whole house was lovely, situated in an area that had burned in a fire 2010, The entire area was rebuilt beautifully, and the mountain View of Colorado Springs from the house was stunning, especially at night. We stayed three nights comfortably before leaving on Saturday for Texas. I would recommend this lovely home. I will say the house does not stand alone on the mountain, as it is now completely and tightly surrounded by other homes. Thanks so much Joan & Bryan Gibson for sharing your home with us! Family vacation

If you are looking for a home that has plenty of room you may want to check this one out. My husband and I wanted to have our two grown children and our son-in-law all together. We only needed three bedrooms but the fourth came in handy when,I unfortunately, became ill. The view was WONDERFUL from the outside patio and my family used their grill a couple of times. The kids played different games they have there and used their ping pong table too. Great location and my family found it easy to get where they wanted to go. Thank you Bryan and Joan for sharing your beautiful home! We would recommend this place to our friends!

Incredible home in the perfect location.

Mountain Shadows is the perfect place for families when visiting Colorado Springs! The home is absolutely gorgeous, incredibly spacious, and appropriately private. We had eight people consisting of three families and there was plenty of room for everyone. The homeowners live in the upper levels, but the home is so large you don't even know they are there unless you need them. The location is perfect and views are amazing. We sat on the porch every morning and watched the sunrise. It was just spectacular! Joan, the homeowner, was sweet, welcoming, and very helpful. She came down our first evening and gave wonderful advice as we planned the week's activities and was always attentive and eager to help make our stay the very best. Bryan was away, so we did not get to meet him but I'm sure he is equally wonderful! We all highly recommend to property and hope to stay again very soon! We simply LOVE Colorado Springs and Mountain Shadows!
