The Eagles Nest Cabin

Elevation 7,939 Feet

1,425 Square Feet

There are several great rentals to choose from at the Vallecito vacation rental market. Many share similar amenities. NONE enjoy the most unique location, and breathtaking views. It is unequivocally one of a kind like no other. Eagles Nest has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and is about 1,425 square feet. It can accommodate 10 guests comfortably. The “Nest” is a rustic, secluded and private cabin at the top of the hill, at the end of the road, perched high on a cliff at 8,000 feet above sea level - a few hundred feet above the valley floor. Our guests enjoy endless unobstructed views of snowcapped peaks, the Continental Divide, a green valley with shimmering streams right below, and beautiful views of Lake Vallecito. The Little Valley has its own microclimate – an ever changing canvas of mesmerizing colors sights and sounds. Eagles Nest was professionally redesigned and redone by its owners. We like to call it “Neo Rustic”. The exterior look was transformed by an artisan, a Hollywood western movies set designer into a 200 year old cabin in the mountains, giving it a very unique frontier look and feel. Inside, it affords new furnishings, art work, and a modern kitchen which consists of new appliances, a coffee and espresso bar, and gas fired BBQ grill, plus state of the art audio visual system, a movie library, games for young and adults, a horse shoe game set, Wi-Fi, local phone service and Satellite TV. A full size washer and dryer is available as well. A good part of your time will be spent under the gazebo on the large gated deck- nature or star gazing. All photos in the display were taken from the deck or on the premises without enhancements. Some say even the pictures don't do it justice. At night, the dark skies hang so low, millions of stars hover above the roof top. It seems one could reach up and pluck one right off its heavenly seat. The countless acres of the Weminuche wilderness and the San Juan national park share a common border with the property – just walk up to the trail. Vallecito offers entertainment and fun for all ages - adults, the young, and young at heart - fun activities such as cycling, horseback riding, boating (the marina is located a short distance from the cabin) hiking, ATV and four wheeling, fly fishing and hunting just to name a few. The shoreline is dotted with some lovely restaurants at waters edge. Durango with all that it has to offer is just 25 miles away. Come on up and stop chasing....... escape the mundane, the hustle, the summer heat, smog, noise and pollution. Give your body and soul an Eagles Nest rest.

About Jenna Byers, Gwen Buscher

Why Jenna Byers, Gwen Buscher chose Southwest

Our long time experience as summer renters as well as real estate

practitioners, has given us the motivation to acquire this most unique

place, turn it into a labor of love, and embellish our own experiences as

renters into this beautiful rustic cabin. We have totally updated its

design, appearance, and décor. We replaced all appliances, and added

new entertainment technology. Still, we have endeavored to preserve

its rustic mountain appeal. We want to accommodate the guests at our

home in every possible way. Our goal is to make your stay at Eagles

Nest a memorable and lasting experience with many happy returns.

Girls week-end trip the end of October

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home with my best friend, daughter, granddaughter & their 2 best friends. It was a perfect place for a girls time together. It is a warm, cozy, welcoming & inviting home and a place to enjoy some of the best scenery nature has to offer in Colorado. We read, played cards, cooked, rallied the Cubs & Cowboys on the big screen tv, star gazed, enjoyed the great tranquility of nature & just being together.

The home is well stocked with deluxe amenities - a large living area, 2 wonderful eating areas, a gourmet kitchen, coffee bar, a deck outside the home for star gazing, deluxe beds & bedrooms, bathrooms - all equipped & extra clean. Loved all the artwork, paintings, pictures of moose, deer, elk, bears, decorated to perfection for anyone that loves Colorado, nature, the southwest, the best of the USA! We wish we'd had more time to stay. Many places near for food or Durango near by for shopping & eating, but really we didn't want to leave our home away from home. we definitely will return. Again , thank you for making it a special time for my family, friends & myself. We can't wait to come back!!!!!!!!!!!

Perfect and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

So happy and thankful that we were included in an escape to this incredible place with friends. It is a fabulous "neo-cabin" ; the owners have thought of everything. All the amenities of an upscale hotel with the warmth and peace of home. Loved the open concept that brings everyone and eveything together and the wrap around deck has lots of seating so morning, noon or night, you can sit and enjoy the spectacular scenery this cabin affords. If you want to stop the world, relax and enjoy all that is important in life, look no further, Eagles Nest has it all.

It's tucked away in its own little alcove of privacy but just a quick jaunt down the hill to a general store(fresh veggies, deli meats, beer, wine, etc.) and to several, one of a kind, really good local restaurants. If you want more, a few additional minutes and you can be in downtown Durango: a wonderful place to walk, shop, eat and talk-whatever your preference!

Wifi and cell phone coverage for checking back in on reality; nice choice of television channels, plus board games and cards. The best of the Rockies and enjoying everything imaginable about Colorado, perfectly set right here.

We will be back!!!]

A dream holiday for grandparents!

  • 5 of 5

After a long flight from Israel , we met with our daughter her husband and their three kids for a family holiday in this wonderful Eagles Nest Cabin.

We found a clean, cozy cabin that had a beautiful view to the wild nature of Colorado with its forests and lakes! Fully equipped kitchen were we cooked healthy fresh meals after long walks in the nature.

I warmly and highly recommend Eagles Nest for anybody who loves nature and likes to stay in a pampering cabin!

Weekend Sendoff

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I gathered for a final weekend together before one of them moves out of state. This cabin was perfect for what we had in mind! It has a beautiful rustic style from furniture to lights and wall hangings. The views from the porch were breathtaking every part of the day, including stargazing at night. The area is extremely peaceful with hiking trails and the lake nearby for activity options. If I return to the area, I would love to stay here again!

Like nothing else we have seen !

  • 5 of 5

Have been vacationing in the Vallecito area for years and stayed at beautiful places. NOTHING comes close to the beauty we have experienced at Eagle's Nest. We felt like we were at the top of the world--private, secluded, but close to everything. The beauty and the views are hard to describe. Driving up the hill we saw a bear cub, elk, and deer. Our little dog Harry fell in love with a resident chipmunk, he was sitting on the deck for hours waiting to say hi. We saw a large bird feeding on a branch feet away from the large deck that wraps the house. It rained for a few days , we didn't mind that at all . The rainbow we saw after the rain over the valley was breathtaking. Went hiking up the trail right behind the cabin. Ate at some wonderful restaurants along the shore line. The rustic cabin has everything we wanted, modern kitchen appliances, satellite TV, WIFI, a great stereo system a generous movie library, and wow a coffee bar with an espresso machine included! The views and nature we have experienced without anything else would have been enough. Took tons of photos ! We stayed for a week, could have stayed for a month...had to be torn away from the place...we are coming back !!!

Beyond our highest expectations

  • 5 of 5

We loved this cabin! We heard many good things about it and had high expectations... The place was even better!!! It is located perfectly and gives an amazing feeling of peace and quiet with beautiful views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The cabin was clean (had a great smell), furnished beautifully and was totally equipped (kitchen, entertainment...). We came to have family quality time (4 adults and 3 kids ) and had the most relaxing and fun time.
