very nice. quiet. off the beaten path. we will stay again

  • 5 of 5

our family history goes back a long way. Our stay was a sort of sibling reunion. The cabin was very nice and well equipped. All we needed was our food and clothes. Everything worked. There were no problems. Our week was enhanced by the owners being across the street while we were there. We became acquainted and found them to be friendly, kind, much like our Arkansas heritage relatives. We got to see what we went there for and could return to a really comfortable home at happy hour. We will use their home again when we go back to Colorado. Robert Dale Sun city West, Az

A little slice of heaven....

  • 5 of 5

I have been visiting the Vallecito area since the 70's back when my grandparent's lived on the Florida river. 40 yrs later I have made the trip almost every summer, sometimes twice, as my personal get away. In years past I have been very loyal to another local business but as their nightly rates went up, their service declined. Crosshouse Cabin IS my new Vallecito destination for years to come. Their beautiful, picturesque property is set up perfectly for couples, families or just a friends get away. Joan and Tom are VERY accommodating and gracious hosts. The property is very close to hiking, great fishing at beautiful Vallecito Lake and just minutes from the general store and shops on the main drag on the east side of the lake. You will not be disappointed!!!!

A week on Vallecito Creek

  • 5 of 5

We spent the week at the house on Vallecito Creek. We prepared most of our meals in the kitchen and used the house as our base for local activities. The house was wonderful. The trail heads for the Vallecito Creek trail and others are very close. We did some hiking in the area, rode the train, and went rafting. The kids played in the creek almost every day we were there, the property is on the creek so it was a very short walk. We even saw a black bear walking along the creek one day!

Perfect Vacation House

  • 5 of 5

I had never booked a vacation locale thru VRBO, so was somewhat apprehensive about doing so. I needed a comfortable place for five family members including one child. We were bowled over the minute we walked into the home. I say home, not house, because that is what it felt like. The location, next to a wonderful creek, in a quiet area, yet close to all the fun vacation things we wanted to do, could not have been better. The home was immaculate, and very well stocked, from the kitchen, to the laundry room, to the two very nice bathrooms. It was way beyond our expectations. We all loved the creek, and spent many hours wading, looking for rocks and gold, and fishing. Our 6 year old granddaughter loved it and wanted to spend every moment at the creek when we were at the cabin. Vallecito Lake is beautiful and there were many fun things to do there, including reasonable boat rental, ATV tours, etc. Plenty of nearby restaurants and small grocery stores. We saw deer every evening at the cabin, as well as many playful chipmunks. I highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a vacation stay. The owners are to be commended for their ease of dealing with, timely communications, and VERY reasonable price. The value was outstanding for what we received.
