Great space for a large group but showing its age....

  • 3 of 5

We stayed here over our spring break with a large group of 24 people. The layout was great and it's so nice that each room has its own bathroom. We never felt crowded at all. The kitchen has lots of seating which was lovely. The deck was huge and the views were awesome! Those things being said, the property is beginning to show some wear and looked a bit shabby in places. There were a few pieces of trash on the lawn when we arrived, two screen doors had broken screens, the refrigerator has a big scratch, and the sofas show wear as well. The internet and cable did not work the whole week we were there and we contacted the manager right away but it never was able to be resolved before we left. We did receive a small refund for having to use data from our own phone plans but it was still a big disappointment. We continually had issues with the hot tub turning green even when the maintenance man went over care instructions that we followed exactly. Overall we had a good stay but it was not without some issues.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying at Smoky Vista Lodge. We are so disappointed in your review since we worked diligently to resolve your issues during your stay. Just a couple of notes. 1. We put in a call to the cable/internet provider and the line was cut accidently. We paid for an priority visit for them to restore service during your stay. We contacted you with the time of their arrival- 8am the day prior to the scheduled repair and compensated you financially. While you were there at the cabin you refused to let the cable man inside even though we told you he was coming to assist you. The cable man called us and could see you walking around inside and ignoring him. I texted you while he was there and you said you were leaving and he wasn't there. We have security cameras on the outside of the property and could see the cable man at the door and all of your vehicles in the driveway. 2. We sent our maintenance man out two times about the hot tub issues and as he told you and us- you were abusing the maximum number of people allowed in the hot tub and clogging the filters. We also paid extra for these repair visits during your stay and you did not heed our advice or the maintenance man's recommendations. 3. We apologize about the scratch on the refrigerator. We hope that was not too much of an inconvenience for you. Unfortunately this was also a poor experience for us as owners since you represented yourself as a church youth group. It seems you may have exceeded the maximum number of guests allowed.

Awesome Cabin for a Large Group!

  • 5 of 5

8 couples rented this cabin for 4 nights in March and we LOVED it! There is so much room to spread out and be in different areas or large enough in the kitchen area that we could all be together eating or playing dice games, etc. The views and the deck are amazing and we enjoyed the hot tub as well. The location of the cabin is perfect - off the beaten path but close to everything. Everyone in the group raved about this choice! The only thing I would say is the cleaning staff needs to mop the floors better. It looked clean but when we wore our socks around the bottoms were black! Other then that - awesome!

Amazing views!

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 18 - 20 people that went with us, 9 of them were teenagers! Everyone had a blast with the games downstairs and the pool table upstairs. It was great having the mini kitchen downstairs with the fridge so they didn't have to come up and down the stairs to get things. The mountain views are spectacular and we even had a storm go across Mt. LeConte and we could see it dropping snow on it. The next couple of days was a great picture to look out across the mountains with the snow covering it. We HIGHLY recommend renting this house and we will be back again!

Wonderful Weekend!!

  • 5 of 5

Loved the house! It was spacious, clean and convenient to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Even in winter, we had plenty to do. The weather was warmer than normal, but we didn't have to leave the house unless we wanted to. The large table in the kitchen area and all of the bar stools were perfect for games, eating, etc. The hot tub was a popular spot for the kids, knowing it had been emptied and cleaned before we used it. We would definitely book this spot again.
