Overview

About the property

3 Bed & 3 Bath Homestead on the Ely Farm

Located in rural Northern Michigan, the Ely House sees every season that Michigan has to offer. We are just four miles from the Pellston Regional Airport, 10 miles from Boyne Highlands and Nubs Nob skiing and golfing resorts, eighteen miles from Colonial Mackinaw City and downtown Petoskey, and two hours from the Sleeping Bear Dunes.

The Ely House is situated on our family farm of 200 acres where we graze grass fed cattle, grow organic vegetables, and make raw honey. Cold Creek runs through the middle of our property connecting to the Maple River offering abundant trout fishing opportunities for the experienced angler. The House also sits right across from one of the best snowmobile and ATV trails in the area; great for early morning walks and site seeing. It's also only 13 miles from the locals little known secret of Sturgeon Bay where snorkeling, swimming, and dune climbing are the best around! We've always considered our selves blessed to be right in the middle of the most beautiful area in the Midwest.

Each room has its own private bathroom with shower. A full kitchen with all utilities and laundry are available. If you have any questions before or during your stay please feel free to ask. The Ely House is family owned and cared for and we want our guests to feel at home :)

The Ely House and it's owners are fantastic! Everything you need is close by. The farmhouse setting is peaceful and relaxing. The firepit is a great place for visiting & star-gazing. The owners baked us the best cherry pie I have ever had for our arrival at the Ely House. I look forward to more time spent at the Ely House!

Absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Ely House July 22nd - August 5th, 2017. We had 8 in our party, my parents, my husband and our 9 and 6 yr old children, and my sister and her 4 year old daughter. The house perfectly suited our needs. It is a clean, well kept home that had everything we needed including books and games for all ages. We loved the yard - a great open place to play and fun seeing the cows and the sandhill cranes. We had expected to smell the cows when we were outdoors, but there was only a very faint smell in the evenings, which was just another fun reminder that we were in the country on vacation. The stars were amazing at night and the views are just beautiful wherever you look. If you need WiFi, the Pellston airport is about 5 minute drive away and actually an interesting place to see and a good place for brochures on things to do. The house is perfectly located for going to Petoskey (including Walmart, Meijers, etc.), Burt Lake, Pond Hill Farm, the Lavendar Farm, Sturgeon Bay, Mackinaw, the UP for longer drives, etc. Everything is about 20-30 minutes away. And for that, you get the peace and quiet of the country. Ely Road had more traffic and trucks because of the construction on 31, but even that was minimal. The weather was wonderful and the few times it rained, we enjoyed watching the storms from the huge porch. James was fantastic to work with, quick to respond, helpful, friendly, and professional. We can't say enough good things about our stay or the house and have booked it already for next summer!

Away from It All!

  • 5 of 5

If you need to get away from it all, this is the place. Surrounded by pastures, you can sit and watch cows graze, listen to wind in the hardwood and pine trees, and see the moon and stars without the inference of street lights. The home is steeped in history which the landlord shares in his welcome book and will gladly tell you more about. The beds are incredibly comfortable, the entire house very clean, and there are enough dishes to host the largest dinner party. We enjoyed cooking there and inviting friends and family to join us. If you'd rather go out, Petoskey, Harbor Springs and Cross Village are close at hand. We were so happy with our stay that we booked it again for next year.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

The Ely House is conveniently located near Petoskey and Mackinaw City. During our week there, we enjoyed Pirate Cove Adventure Miniature Golf in Petoskey and Petoskey State Park, Mackinac Island, Colonial Michilimackinac, and Sturgeon Bay. Our kids loved the dunes at Sturgeon Bay and finding a Petoskey stone at Petoskey State Park. If you stay at the Ely House, we highly recommend eating at Moose Jaw Junction.

We loved our stay here and made some great memories! It was so nice coming "home" after a day at the beach or another day trip. We loved getting to see the hummingbirds and butterflies that enjoyed the lilacs and porch flowers. Next time we will have to explore some hiking on the trails at Wilderness State Park.

The owners are awesome! They went over and above to make us feel at home while on vacation.
