The Ely House in Northern Michigan

Space 1,750 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

3 Bed & 3 Bath Homestead on the Ely Farm

Located in rural Northern Michigan, the Ely House sees every season that Michigan has to offer. We are just four miles from the Pellston Regional Airport, 10 miles from Boyne Highlands and Nubs Nob skiing and golfing resorts, eighteen miles from Colonial Mackinaw City and downtown Petoskey, and two hours from the Sleeping Bear Dunes.

The Ely House is situated on our family farm of 200 acres where we graze grass fed cattle, grow organic vegetables, and make raw honey. Cold Creek runs through the middle of our property connecting to the Maple River offering abundant trout fishing opportunities for the experienced angler. The House also sits right across from one of the best snowmobile and ATV trails in the area; great for early morning walks and site seeing. It's also only 13 miles from the locals little known secret of Sturgeon Bay where snorkeling, swimming, and dune climbing are the best around! We've always considered our selves blessed to be right in the middle of the most beautiful area in the Midwest.

Each room has its own private bathroom with shower. A full kitchen with all utilities and laundry are available. If you have any questions before or during your stay please feel free to ask. The Ely House is family owned and cared for and we want our guests to feel at home :) See more pictures and info on our Facebook page @theleyhouse

Wonderful Home

  • 5 of 5

The Ely House is WONDERFUL!!!!! It is so peaceful there. James was wonderful to work with. I had emailed him a question about an iron and ironing board, yes I do that on vacation, and he made sure that they were there. Upon our arrival there was a wonderful hand written note to us along with a wonderful homemade pie. We brought both of our 77 year old moms and we all were able to make some wonderful memories there. There is a town called Petosky (sp?) roughly 15 miles or so from the house, you need to go visit that town. Very laid back. Loved also going to Sault St. Marie and doing a dinner cruise thru the loucks. Well worth the trip!! Also Mackinaw Island was wonderful as well. The Ely House is so close to these places and it's nice to go out and do these day trips and come back to a wonderful place to rest and get ready for the next day. Thanks again James for everything.

This property is well kept, very clean and extremely comfortable. We took advantage of the porches, enjoying lots of "porch talks." The fire pit is great and we really appreciated the wood that was provided. Our hot dogs and marshmallows roasted over the fire were a tasty close to a couple busy days. The Ely House is central to many northern Michigan attractions. We explored the Soo Locks, Mackinaw Island and the Tunnel of Trees. We also took advantage of shopping opportunities in Mackinaw City and Harbor Springs. All without spending lots of time on the road. We loved reading the history of The Ely House. Hope to be back in the near future and bring family along.

A roomy and charming property with a great front porch and nice kitchen.

We loved the Ely House. Lots of room in the kitchen for my foodie friends to prepare meals (honestly, with the amount of food they brought we could have filled two refrigerators!). Super charming with generous amenities. Lots of hot water and comfortable beds. Close to attractions and Sturgeon Bay beaches (the best). Peace and quiet galore, and James, the property manager, is a bonus! We want to come back next year for two weeks.

Great farmhouse in a beautiful, relaxing, rural setting with fantastic owners/managers

  • 5 of 5

I love the Ely House! It's a beautiful place with attentive, helpful owners. Everything you need is close by. Lake Michigan, Sturgeon Bay, Petoskey and Mackinac Island are all just minutes away and short drives allow for magnificent scenery. Loved sitting out by the firepit every night.

The Ely House and it's owners are fantastic! Everything you need is close by. The farmhouse setting is peaceful and relaxing. The firepit is a great place for visiting & star-gazing. The owners baked us the best cherry pie I have ever had for our arrival at the Ely House. I look forward to more time spent at the Ely House!
