About the property

3 Bed & 3 Bath Homestead on the Ely Farm

Located in rural Northern Michigan, the Ely House sees every season that Michigan has to offer. We are just four miles from the Pellston Regional Airport, 10 miles from Boyne Highlands and Nubs Nob skiing and golfing resorts, eighteen miles from Colonial Mackinaw City and downtown Petoskey, and two hours from the Sleeping Bear Dunes.

The Ely House is situated on our family farm of 200 acres where we raise beef cattle. Cold Creek runs through the middle of our property connecting to the Maple River. The Maple River offering abundant trout fishing opportunities for the experienced angler. The home sits right across from snowmobile and ATV trails that also serve for great morning walks and site seeing. We're only 13 miles from the gorgeous Sturgeon Bay where snorkeling, swimming, and dune climbing make for a non-forgettable day out. We've always considered our selves blessed to be right in the middle of the most beautiful spread in the Midwest.

Each room has its own private bathroom with shower. A full kitchen with all utilities and laundry are available. If you have any questions before or during your stay please feel free to contact us. The Ely House is family owned and cared for and we want our guests to feel welcome. See more pictures and info on our Facebook page @theleyhouse

Very welcoming felt like home

  • 5 of 5

I needed a few extra rooms for our veterans that were staying at Brave Hearts Estate.

The guys could not talk enough about the warm feeling of the house and how comfortable the beds were.

I love that it is so close, it was easy for them to be near everyone else. We will definitely rent again.

So many extra amenities!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at the Ely House and we hope to return again next year. The house is spacious, the front porch superb, and the surrounding landscape beautiful and oh, so, quiet! New geothermal central air is great, but so is the cross breeze created by all those easy to open windows. So many extras included with this house - you won't be disappointed. Lots of room with a big kitchen, tons of vintage plates and glasses to use. Quick access to Lake Michigan without having to pay big bucks for lakeside accommodations. Great water pressure and the house is always clean as a whistle. James, the owner, is the frosting on the cake - he makes sure you're comfortable and is always interested in suggestions for improvement.

We are return renters and we are starting to feel like family. I love this house and the surroundings. So peaceful and a beautiful piece of property to sit back and enjoy.

This house is everything a renter could want and every year new touches are made to make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable. Thanks James for another wonderful stay. See you next year.

Great Weekend!!

  • 5 of 5

A group of friends got together to celebrate a birthday and enjoy some snowmobiling. Unfortunately, mother nature did not cooperate, but we still had a great time. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, which a plus for a group of adults. The house was spacious and comfortable. James was very welcoming and the cookies on the counter were a nice touch!!

Thank you. We will rent again.

The best VRBO property.

  • 5 of 5

The ely house was the best VRBO property I’ve stayed at. The house is perfect for a group of 5-8. Great location to Boyne Highlands and nubs nob. About 15 minutes to both. House was huge and had plenty of room for multiple families. The fire pit outback is perfect for a winter night.

Ely House oy to save our New Years week ski trip after our cottage lost heat and fron New Years week

  • 5 of 5

James and his family went out of their way to accommodate our family at the last minute when our cottage lost heat and froze all the pipes. I contacted James at mid-night on New Years Eve and he graciously fit us in starting New Years day. The Ely House was way above expectations. It is a well furnished renovated farm house with everything a family could need. The beds are the best and the home is decorated for the Holidays. It has everything that you need. The property is awesome. The best experience at a rental ever. We cannot rave enough about the home and the way we were treated. We would recommend this home and James and his family to anyoneone who wants a get away in Northern Michigan.
