"We hope that this will not be our last visit to the very special Chocolate Moose Lodge." Arie G.

"We found Chocolate Moose to be just what our family of 6 adults and 2 grandkids needed for our 3 night stay. Kitchen perfect for the preparation of our Thanksgiving feast. Hot tub with a fantastic view was so pleasant and appreciated finding a hiking trail just a few hundred yards from our front door." Carla S.

"We had a great stay at this very comfortable and well-stocked lodge. It was just right for hanging out with family, cooking, hot tubbing and just relaxing." - James S

Welcome to the Chocolate Moose! The cabin that offers the very best of the Colorado mountains. This luxurious 4,000 square foot, 3 story custom crafted log cabin features four bedrooms and three and a half baths, and offers everything you need for the perfect mountain retreat. This spacious home is tucked away in the aspens with breathtaking views of South Park and Silverheels Mountain.

Hit the trails by simply opening the backdoor. The many trails maintained by the community connect up with the National Forest to the south providing hours upon hours of exploration. If you want to continue your adventures a bit further from home, you can catch the Colorado Trail on top of Kenosha pass about 30 miles to the north, or bag your first 14er by climbing Mount Sherman just a few miles up the road.

Enjoy the private stocked fishing ponds within the community (no Colorado license needed - just grab the pass from in the kitchen) or grab a license and venture out to explore all of the amazing fishing destinations in the area (http://285mountainguide.com/guide/activities/fishing.html). The community also offers a tennis and basketball court if a friendly rivalry needs to be decided on the court.

If 4-wheeling is more your speed, the cabin is just 10 minutes from Breakneck Pass (https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/231-breakneck-pass) and over a dozen other rated trails are located within an hour's drive.

Just 10 miles up the road you'll find the adorable and inviting mountain town of Fairplay. Home of the South Park City Museum, a perfectly restored mining town that lets you walk through over 40 authentic buildings from the time period. It is also the inspiration for the popular cartoon series, South Park. Drive through and spot all of Kenny's favorite hangouts. In addition to the museum you'll find restaurants, shopping, the new South Park Recreation Center, and local art on display. Spend the day strolling, snacking and don't forget to stop by South Park Brewery for a pint of craft beer and live music on your way back home.

The cabin is located 32 miles from Breckenridge Ski Resort, so if you're in search of a Colorado blue bird day you're less than an hour (depending on weather) from speeding down over 180 trails. In the summer, the resort transforms into a family fun zone, offering alpine slides, ropes courses and mining for adults and children of all ages!

The Fairplay Nordic center is just a few miles away with maintained cross country trails if scenic views and a quiet picnic is more your speed. You can also find sleds in the garage and opportunities to use them abound!

36 miles to the south of the cabin you'll find Buena Vista, CO. (Pronounced B-yoo-na Vista - if you want to sound like a local). They offer guided whitewater rafting, an outdoor adventure park, local breweries, festivals, hot springs, dining, and access to more of the famed Colorado 14'ers (14,000 foot peaks) than any other town in CO. It's an outdoor playland!

With so much to do we most definitely can't cover it all here so please reach out with any questions. We'll do our best to assist.

About Cassie Christensen

I'm a Colorado native, he's a New England transplant who fell in love with the state during his childhood road trips. The cabin was purchased in fulfillment of a dream come true that was inspired by our own engagement road trip. And as much we wish we could live there year round, work pulls us back to the city so we decided to share the cabin with others in search of the same escape we found and hopefully inspire other dreamer's pursuits.

Cassie Christensen purchased this cabin in 2016

Why Cassie Christensen chose Warm Springs

From the twisted pine railings to the expansive views. Our favorite moose and bear mascots that assist in creating the cabin theme. The open floor plan and the easy access to the outdoors. The massive deck that wraps around 3/4 of the house. The huge wood-burning stove that makes the perfect holiday backdrop. The hot tub, the games and most of all...the memories. This is our favorite place on the planet and we so enjoy sharing it with others looking to enjoy the magic of the Colorado mountains.

What makes this cabin unique

Bearnard the bear and Moosille the moose, our local mascots, will be the theme of your visit and you may just see their real life relatives stroll up the driveway, depending on the season.

Terrific Mountain Home

  • 5 of 5

This is a terrific mountain home located just outside of Fairplay, Colorado. We had a wonderful vacation and loved staying here. The owner is great to work with and the home is very well maintained. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub with a view of the valley below. There is National Forest access, private fishing and close proximity to outdoor activities from the property. We loved it.

Marvelous Views & the Coziness of Home!

  • 5 of 5

You seriously can't get anything better than this! The inside is clean, well-taking care of, cozy, and most of all --the unique decor with touches of humor and old-time mountain gear make it unique and fun. This truly is the place for a weekend get-away or an even longer stay! You will have all the amenities you could ever need with very responsive and caring owners. The customer service is un-paralleled. The best part is no doubt the nature you are surrounded with. Lots of fun animal sightings and no-lack of different nature walks and paths to take right out the back door. If you are looking for a mountain get-away with lots do near by or a cozy retreat where you never have to leave the property...you can get it all here!!

Wonderful Mountain Escape & Charming Cabin

  • 5 of 5

My family and I arrived on Friday evening to this beautiful cabin. We stopped and grabbed a few groceries at the handy local grocery store (Prather’s Market I think was the name) on our way to the cabin as we knew we were going to be spending most of the weekend around the cabin. We wanted a family getaway to the mountains and we were not disappointed! The first night we cooked some burgers on the grill out on the deck and enjoyed the crisp mountain air when the sun went down. When it was time to decide where everyone should sleep, we found there were ample beds for everyone to sleep in (there were 6 of us). Not to mention, they were actually comfy beds! It was nice to find that there were bathrooms on each floor of the house so no one had to fight over bathroom time. When we woke up the next morning, we had quite the surprise when we saw 2 moose wondering around out by our cars. None of us had ever seen a moose so close! Later we ventured out for a walk and found some beautiful walking/hiking paths that take you up through aspen trees and gorgeous vistas. While the ladies when for a hike, the guys went fly fishing in some nearby ponds.

We are already trying to plan another getaway to this place tucked back in the mountains. And since there were extra beds, we are trying to get more of the family involved with the next trip. Thank you for all the wonderful amenities and memories! It was such a pleasure working with you!

View and Property both Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

Perfect small group corporate retreat. Slept more than a dozen of us around the house. Great opportunity in the main room to conduct training and then spend some time really getting to know each other. We held cooking competitions , played cards, brought instruments, and had a wonderful time together. Kitchen was large enough to cook for a large group, wrap around deck on back couldn't have better views and hot tub is just icing on the cake. Great place for hiking and the little town is just far enough way to be remote yet not impossible if you forget something
