About Nancy Moore (owner)

I am a Colorado native living in Littleton, but I have traveled out of the country on a number of occasions, visiting places such as England, Spain, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Canada. I grew up in Conifer, Colorado, which is about an hour's drive from Denver. We had horses, dogs and cats growing up and and endless space to ride horses, hike and snowmobile.

Nancy Moore (owner) purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Nancy Moore (owner) chose Twin Lakes

This cabin was my dream for years, and was finally completed in 2009. It is my second home and I love giving others the opportunity to enjoy it as much as I do myself. Picturesque and secluded, at the base of Mount Elbert, the property looks over the Mosquito Range. The panoramic views are amazing, and the proximity to not only Twin Lakes, but jeep trails, beaver ponds, hiking trails, and even the town of Aspen give you a number of activities to choose from. I truly think you will be amazed at the beauty and tranquility of the area - I have such a hard time leaving every time I come up!

What makes this cabin unique

I love log homes, and this open floor plan with the high ceilings, beetle kill hardwood on the walls and floors, the slate flooring in the bathrooms, the shower and under the wood-burning stove, along with the soft carpet in the large 800 sq. ft. loft. The half log staircase leading to the loft just adds to the beauty of the place! There is virtually no room in the place that doesn't offer a spectacular view. Enjoy a 'cabin' atmosphere, yet be in luxury.

Beautifully built, immaculately cared for and spectacularly situated cabin

  • 4 of 5

My family of eight had the opportunity to spend 3 nights at the Grinning Bear Lodge in early September of 2017. My daughter opted to have her wedding celebration at the Praying Angel site just down the hill and we found this phenomenal property to be the perfect place to serve as our lodging. The log construction and rustic, alpine design inside made us feel like we were experiencing the mountains from the most comfortable perch imaginable. We did have one small technical issue that we got solved within minutes as the owner was immediately available to assist.

Being "flat landers" unaccustomed to the altitude, the gravel approach roads and the need to have whatever you were going to eat and drink stocked ahead of time provided us with just enough out of the box challenges to fuel family stories for years to come.

I would strongly recommend the Grinning Bear Lodge for a week as we felt like we just didn't have enough time to really explore Twin Lakes, Mt. Elbert and the Arkansas River but that certainly wasn't the fault of this wonderful cabin.

Best of the best!

We had an incredible time at Grinning Bear Lodge! We live in the Front Range and booked a last minute weekend getaway and came across Grinning Bear and could not have been more pleased with the home, amenities, location and Nancy was great!

If you are looking for a bit of peace & tranquility look no further! The home is located in a secluded area not far from Twin Lakes with few homes in sight.

We will be back soon!

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Grinning Bear is great for a family wanting to get away. It has everything you need to cook if you want to but is close enough to town to order out. Ample bedding and supplies even for the largest family. The kids enjoyed the game room on gloomy days. The neighborhood is wonderful. You feel like your the only one on the mountain. Did I mention the view!? We look forward to returning in the summer for new adventures. Also Ski Cooper is perfect for the family. A+ place.
