About Carol Lingemann
We have always loved the Black Hills and finally decided to purchase our own private get away. Our children and grandchildren enjoy sharing this home with us. We are farmers in eastern SD. This way we have the best of several worlds.
Carol Lingemann purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Carol Lingemann chose Custer
This property met all the check marks on our list for a home in the Hills and it was a long list. We think the builder must have been reading our minds when they built this home. There are still several projects we hope to finish including a stairs from the top deck to the bottom deck. We are a work in progress.
What makes this Cabin unique
There is no better place to put your feet up and relax than on the deck. Enjoy your morning coffee and listen to the birds. Have a steak on the grill for dinner and enjoy a glass of wine while you watch the stars come out. The view of the Milky Way in August makes you feel like you are living in the stars.

A Peaceful Hilltop Cabin
We enjoyed our stay at Hog Heaven on our July 4th trip to the Black Hills. We like to stay in the Custer area due to the easy access to beautiful Custer State Park and the surrounding attractions and activites. After specifically searching in this area we chose this cabin and and it was the perfect location and fit for our family vacation.
The cabin is west of Custer and is easily accessible. It is about a mile north off of Highway 16, the directions provided were accurate and helpful. What a fun surprise to see a herd of buffalo grazing in the meadow as we turned off the highway!
The cabin is located at the end of the road on a peaceful hilltop surrounded by the natural beauty of the forest, rock formations, and a meadow. The cabin is both a peaceful retreat at the end of a busy day and a natural playground for kids and adults to explore.
The cabin was everything we hoped it would be! It is very welcoming and attractively decorated. It is also very well designed with bedrooms and baths on each level. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, bakeware and dishes. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck, using the firepit, and the popcorn popper was also a big hit! This cabin served our family of adults and young children well. We would definitely return to Hog Heaven!
Absolutely loved this place!
Amazing place and location. My family loved it and the owners were so quick to respond and help out with local suggestions. Thank you!!!
One of the best
This is really your home-away-home with so much more to offer. One glitch was that we ran out of water one morning but the owner sent a truck load of water in almost no time. Through out the whole process started from booking, the owner, Carol, had been very responsive. The house was clean and spacious with a very nice view, right in the middle of the woods. all sort of supplies were more than adequate (one of the airbeds was leaking though, the white/grayish one -D). I'd definitely consider it again next time I go. Thanks Carol!
The pictures don't do it justice
The place is beautiful. We had ten adults and never felt like we were in each others way. The view from the deck was amazing and we also enjoyed the fire pit and exploring the surrounding woods. The drive from the main road was always an adventure due to the herd of Bison that roam the area. We never knew if they would be blocking the road.
The owners are also amazing. Always available and helpful. They have done a great job with the property. They have added their personal touch to make it feel like home.
We would rent this property in a heartbeat again, the only drawback was the gravel road and that was because we were on motorcycles. It was doable but better with a car.
You will enjoy your time there...........
Thank you for the lovely review. Let us know when you plan to come again and we will see what we can do. Carol and Bill
the pictures don't do it justice!
Don't get me wrong, this rental looks nice in the pictures, but it was even more gorgeous in person! If you're looking for a scenic, quiet, getaway this is it! The owners were great to work with and responded promptly when we had any questions. We will definitely stay here in the future!
Thank you for your lovely review. We are glad you liked our home.
Great home in the woods
This was a great place for the 9 people in our family. We loved the secluded location and almost hit a buffalo on the gravel road up to the property.
The house was stocked with everything we needed.
We would definitely stay here again.
