Our mountain home is located at the end of a cull de sac and is bordered on two sides by the Black Hills National Forest. You can sit on the deck and hear the birds and watch the chipmunks play tag. Deer, turkey and coyotes are frequent visitors. As you approach the cabin you may be greeted by our bison neighbors that have free range on the road. This is the place to get away from it all and declare you are in Hog Heaven. This home features 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths. There are two living areas as well as a full kitchen and dining area. The loft area features a master bedroom with king bed and bath with tub/shower combination. The main level of the home has two bedrooms. One with a queen size bed and the other with a king size bed. The larger room has access to a private deck. The main floor bath room has a tub/shower combination. The kitchen and main living area are on this level. The sofa can be converted to a bed. There is a full kitchen and dining area with seating for 10. Most utensils and appliances are included along with some staple food items. French doors take you to the main deck where you can enjoy the best view for miles around. The lower level features a walk out deck with hammocks to enjoy a book or take a nap in the gentle breeze. The lower level bedroom features a king size bed. The lower level bath includes a tub/shower combination. Enjoy a movie and pop corn from the pop corn maker or play some board games or do a puzzle in the living area on this level. There are three queen sized air beds available also. There are two fire pits. One is located below the cabin in the meadow. The other is located on the main level by the parking area. They are both sanctioned by the Forest Service. Please use common sense when you using them according to the fire danger at the time you visit. Take a hike up the forest service trail and arrive at the top of the mountain for a view of the Hills that is hard to beat! We love our mountain get away and hope you will too.
We have always loved the Black Hills and finally decided to purchase our own private get away. Our children and grandchildren enjoy sharing this home with us. We are farmers in eastern SD. This way we have the best of several worlds.
Carol Lingemann purchased this cabin in 2012
This property met all the check marks on our list for a home in the Hills and it was a long list. We think the builder must have been reading our minds when they built this home. There are still several projects we hope to finish including a stairs from the top deck to the bottom deck. We are a work in progress.
There is no better place to put your feet up and relax than on the deck. Enjoy your morning coffee and listen to the birds. Have a steak on the grill for dinner and enjoy a glass of wine while you watch the stars come out. The view of the Milky Way in August makes you feel like you are living in the stars.
This was a great place for the 9 people in our family. We loved the secluded location and almost hit a buffalo on the gravel road up to the property.
The house was stocked with everything we needed.
We would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay at Hog Heaven on our July 4th trip to the Black Hills. We like to stay in the Custer area due to the easy access to beautiful Custer State Park and the surrounding attractions and activites. After specifically searching in this area we chose this cabin and and it was the perfect location and fit for our family vacation.
The cabin is west of Custer and is easily accessible. It is about a mile north off of Highway 16, the directions provided were accurate and helpful. What a fun surprise to see a herd of buffalo grazing in the meadow as we turned off the highway!
The cabin is located at the end of the road on a peaceful hilltop surrounded by the natural beauty of the forest, rock formations, and a meadow. The cabin is both a peaceful retreat at the end of a busy day and a natural playground for kids and adults to explore.
The cabin was everything we hoped it would be! It is very welcoming and attractively decorated. It is also very well designed with bedrooms and baths on each level. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, bakeware and dishes. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck, using the firepit, and the popcorn popper was also a big hit! This cabin served our family of adults and young children well. We would definitely return to Hog Heaven!
This was a great home for our family. We enjoyed all the space to spread out and the lovely decorations. Our kids enjoyed staying in the loft as well as the outside hiking and the swing. We adults loved quiet mornings on the deck with the mountain view and a cup of coffee, and the fireplace, basement game room and fire pit with comfortable seating. It was convenient to sight seeing at local attractions and the town of Custer is wonderful with restaurants, coffee shop, miniature golf, etc. Seeing the buffalo nearby was amazing! We look forward to a return trip!
This home worked great for our family of 4 adults and 3 children (Ages 11-7). We enjoyed the space and the view from the deck. The swing was a big hit with our 7 year old. It was great to be able to enjoy a fire at the fire pit. Beds were good and place was very clean. Kitchen was well equipped. The owners were quick to respond to any questions that we had. We enjoyed Mount Rushmore, the drive around the badlands, and Jewel Cave. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hog Heaven.
This home was perfect for our family vacation. We enjoyed visiting Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Wind Cave. The house was perfect for 4 adults and 5 kids ranging from 15-8 years of age. There was a table down stairs where the family played board games. It was really a treat to have a small herd of bison next to the road on the drive up to the home. The view was incredible and we enjoyed making smores down below at the fire pit. Our Grand daughters enjoyed the tree swing. We only wish our vacation time would have been longer. We loved it there. In fact everyone said they wanted to live there.
We are just minutes away from Jewel Cave National Park. There are many roads and trails to explore with your ATV.
