nice quiet place that was above average clean. we were a family of 6 with 2 below age of 4, main floor family area was little tight with 2 under 4. we will seek to visit again and stay in this location if schedule allows.

Family Beach House

Excellent communication, extremely accommodating and a great guy to converse with. The house had everything we needed and more!! It was absolutely spotless when we arrived. Perfect access to the water. Great trip all around.

This is a superb beachfront property with very attentive and hospitable owners who know the area well and enhanced our stay with lots of local information. The beach is literally one minute away, on a private trail across the dunes, and the interior has three verandas, one on each floor, with a fully equipped kitchen and beautiful nautical decor that has obviously been lovingly collected over the years. Everything is provided, including hammocks for the verandas and a massive jacuzzi and even beach toys for the kids, and the three bedrooms are all comfy and well appointed. Because of the east-west orientation of this beach, there are spectacular sunsets and sunrises every day, and the beach is never crowded due to the residential character of the neighborhood. The house is a five-minute drive from shopping, restaurants, fish markets, etc., but seems very isolated and private. The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful and accommodating. The waters on this part of the Atlantic can be rough and unpredictable, but the city does a good job of posting swimming advice and putting out warning flags when the riptides are bad. The local residents are zealous about making sure the sea-turtle nests are undisturbed and it's not uncommon to see a group of two dozen people gathered together on the beach to ensure that 100 or so newborns emerge from a nest and make their way to the ocean without being picked off by predators. This place would get ten stars if the rating system allowed.

My so and young family stayed in this house and it was even better than advertised.

Well maintained and equipped and the proximate location to the beach made it ideal. owner's direct involvement showcased the care and quality of the place.

A house of warmth & excellence

This house is so unique and special. The attention to detail in providing the little extras (spices, condiments, tissues, tp, ziplock) beach package, games, shampoos, & SO MUCH MORE! I felt the pride, warmth and care in the home. I have been going to beach houses for over 40 years and this home stands out in terms of quality, functionality and cleanliness. I am so impressed….our only struggle is the common space not being big enough for our family of 6. A bit tight for us. Overall, excellent! We are so grateful for this time-

Great place

We had a great vacation and the accommodations were great. Loved the location right on the beach and the cleanliness of the condo. Will stay there again guaranteed. Loved the fact they had all the beach chairs and umbrellas. The only thing that we bring next time would be a mattress pad, I like the bed a little softer.

Beautiful View; Perfect Location; Immaculate Property

Our hosts greeted us upon arrival and showed us how everything in the house works. It has everything you need to cook, clean clothes, and relax and enjoy the beach. The view from the deck outside the master bedroom is breathtaking. The house was perfect for our family of 4.

Really lovely house!

We've been taking an annual trip to Emerald Isle for many years; this was the cleanest and best-equipped house we've ever seen. Very comfortable beds, nicely decorated. Two down sides: it's a little bit cramped in the living areas, and it's located at a particularly crowded part of the beach. The bedrooms are a nice size, but lack closet space. The house is right next to a (very popular) beach access point, so lots of people want to be on that stretch of beach. We would happily return, but only in the off-season.

Worth It!

We had a fantastic vacation to Emerald Isle and the accommodations were A1! The house was very clean and smelled good too! Harry is very friendly and made it easy for us to walk in and enjoy his home like it was ours. We highly recommend The Great Escape and hope to get back there again. The weather wasn't the best when we were there but the house and all its comforts made the rainy days not so bad! We loved the helpful information in the packet which explained all the do's and don'ts so we looked like we were EI natives! We know whomoever stays here will have an enjoyable time!

Beautiful home-great vacation

This was our first time using VRBO and I have to say we were impressed! Harry met us when we got there and had cold refreshments waiting for us. The house was gorgeous and perfect for our family of 4. Harry had all the information we needed to make getting around town a breeze. This is definitely the place to stay!!!

Beautiful Views and All the Amenities

We thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay at this house. The views from every room were amazing and it was so convenient being right on the beach. Many of the homes we looked at required us to bring everything from dish soap to linens. This home had everything we needed and more. There were beach towels, beach chairs, dish soap, laundry soap, pots/pans/utensils, and many food staples in the pantry. They even start you off with a bottle of water and a bag of ice. The owners are friendly and welcoming. The house was immaculate! We felt right at home from the minute we arrived. They even provide a basket full of brochures and information to help you navigate all of the local restaurants and attractions. The location is great ... not too far from the main road and all of the things to do. The beach wasn't over-crowded and the water is just as gorgeous as in the pictures. I was worried about staying in a townhouse but the neighbors were quiet and didn't seem to mind our 3 small kids running around for a week. Thanks to Harry and the pride he takes in his home, this was one of the best vacations we have ever been on. I can't wait to come back!

Wonderful beachfront home

Other reviews caught my eye as they described the house as being the cleanest rental ever. This property didn't disappoint! Well kept up, clean, and well stocked with cooking /baking pans, beach towels, detergent, soap and basics. Clearly owners who care about their property. Gorgeous view. Helpful info packet to keep home as nice as you find it and to explore nearby area. Accommodating and helpful. And Harry's a good writer you'll note, as well, in your exchanges! Master suite on the third floor. Not ideal for those with overly tired knees if that's an issue. We'll be back. Great family spot.

Beautiful Beach Beautiful Home

So much to do in this fun beach town ~ we walked the beautiful beach and even rented Kayaks! Rode bikes to restaurants and shopping! Great walk/bike trails in Emerald Isle. AND quaint sea-side towns all around...I needed more time to do everything there is to do in this area. The HOUSE is top notch! I woke up every morning staring at the ocean!

Outstanding Vacation Home

My family stayed at this home for a one week vacation. It was the cleanest home we have ever rented. The location is excellent and the views simply can't be beat! The owners were very accommodating and very pleasant to deal with. We have already booked our 2015 week. I highly recommend this property.
