About John Bevington
I was born and raised in Yosemite and have wonderful memories to share about growing up there. Memories of watching the fire fall from my front yard in the Ahwahnee meadow, learning to rock climb from now famous Royal Robbins and Warren Harding. It was a great place to grown up. My wife is a city girl from LA and moved to Mariposa in 1988.
John Bevington purchased this Barn in 2013

Amazing Stay in Beautiful Mariposa
My husband and I just got back from a weekend stay at the Red Barn Inn and it was perfect. The property is surrounded by gorgeous nature and has all of the amenities to make it feel like home. It is about an hour drive to Yosemite but the route is beautiful so the time will fly. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom is modern and spacious. There was a nice welcome basket of wine and snacks when we arrived was well! Definitely recommend this little gem for any trip to this area!
Extremely well kept and homely.
My husband and I were beyond pleased with the space, cleanliness, and provisions John and Lisa provided at the inn. We honestly have no complaints and were almost sad to leave! We will definitely book again if Yosemite is our destination!
A home away from home
From the welcome basket with wine and snacks, to a kitchen with every possible appliance, to a spacious bathroom and comfortable bed, every detail has been thought of to make this a home away from home. For entertainment, there are games and two televisions with many viewing options. There is an outdoor grill and several spots to sit outside and enjoy the lovely property and view. I highly recommend the Red Barn Inn!
Wonderful Place To Stay While Visiting Yosemite and Surrounding Areas
The Red Barn Inn is a gem tucked away from it all. The owners (John and Lisa) have taken the steps in ensuring you have a wonderful and worry free stay in their rental. The place was very clean upon check in and the kitchen was well stocked with the utensils, dining set, pots/pans needed for cooking and eating. There is a picnic basket, little cooler, lantern, and bug spray for use to trips to/from Yosemite National Park. The bedroom had a comfortable queen sized bed with plush carpeting and the bathroom was also well appointed. If needed, there is an AC/heater both downstairs and upstairs. The property around the house is beautiful, with views of the green hills and trees all around. The many species of birds (including quail) and chipmunks were fun to watch and listen to from the window and patio. The pictures really do represent the house, but is even better in person. One of the owners, John, even came by within a few minutes of arriving, with a booster seat on hand to let us use for our 3 year old daughter. This was very thoughtful! The Red Barn Inn is definitely a place we will come back to stay at, for hopefully many more trips to Yosemite.
We had a wonderful stay at The Red Barn Inn. The setting was serene as well as beautiful, but also within close driving distance to town and restaurants. The house was well stocked with everything needed; they even left a snacks and a nice bottle of wine. It was clean and and well maintained. Thank you John and Lisa ! Sterling & Diane Edwards
Beautiful setting with generous hosts
Today is our last day at the Red Barn Inn - sadly it is time to leave this welcoming place and the beatiful Yosemite. As other reviewers have mentioned, we were greeted with a welcome basket of local wine and treats. The house has everything one needs for a comfortable stay and to cook family dinners (which we did several times). The Barn is located on the gorgeous grounds, with massive boulders scattered among grasses and wild flowers. The view from here is very peaceful. We had trouble with our GPS the first night and John and Lisa kindly drove up to the main road to meet us and guide us. But in fairness it was our mistake that we couldn’t understand our GPS. We mentioned to John that we loved the purple trees that we saw blooming all over the area, and that night a small potted red bud tree was waiting for us - we can’t wait to plant it in our yard in the Bay Area.
The town of Mariposa is only 5 min away and has several really good restaurants. We drove to Yosemite twice: first going north to enter on hwy 140, and then south (thru Oakhurst) to enter thru Wawona. Both routes offered amazing sites and hikes along the way.
Overall, the Red Barn Inn was a great base for our Yosemite expeditions, and we hope to come back soon.
