Space 1,200 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

3 BR/2 Bath- Perfect for 1-2 Families, 2-3 Couples, Small Group. Dog friendly

Enjoy one of the great locations in Munds Park. Tucked into Munds Canyon with outstanding panoramic views from the large wrap-around patio decking. Your neighbor is the forest. A nature-lover’s haven. On a quiet dead-end street with lots of privacy. Hiking right out the back door into the canyon and out to the national forest. Explore the trails on our three mountain bikes. We also have a nice sand Horsehoe Pit. In snow season, you can sled down our long steep driveway, sleds included. Enjoy our large wrap-around deck with table, chairs, gas BBQ, gas fire pit and patio heater. The stars are amazing at night. We have a telescope you can use, too.

Our cabin is cozy and clean. It is well-equipped with all the usual amenities of home. We provide linens and towels. Just bring your clothes, food and drink. We have high speed internet, HD cable TV with Netflix, washer, dryer and soap for your convenience. Bathrooms on each floor. Wood-burning fireplace stocked for your use. Central heating plus air conditioning for the few extra-warm days we get in the summer.

Lake Odell is a short walk away for fishing, kayaking, and hiking. We have easy access to hiking trails, bicycling trails, ATV and snowmobile trails. Golfing is 0.7 mile away at the lush Pinewood Country Club which is open to the public. The putting greens are amazing. The country club has a popular restaurant with afternoon and evening activities which can be accessed for an additional fee. The country club and golf course are open seasonally from April to September.

Our cabin serves as a convenient base for exploring northern Arizona. World famous Sedona is an easy 45 minute scenic drive. Flagstaff is 20 minutes north with its eclectic charm, restaurants and golf courses. Snow Skiing at the Arizona Snowbowl is 45 minutes away. The Snowbowl is also a nice place to visit in the summer for dining, picnicking, hiking and biking. The Grand Canyon is about 90 minutes away. Other points of interest include Oak Creek Canyon, Slide Rock, Meteor Crater, Walnut Canyon Indian Ruins, Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course, famous Route 66, etc. They are all relatively short drives from our cabin.

About Tim Mahoney

Tim is a native of Arizona.... grew up in Scottsdale and Tempe. His wife Pam is pretty close to a native as well, moving from Ohio to Tempe as a kid. They both graduated from McClintock High School in Tempe, then ASU, have been married since 1984, live in Chandler, and have four children.

Tim Mahoney purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Tim Mahoney chose Munds Park

We purchased this property back in 2015 because of its unique isolated views and the feeling of being out in the middle of the forest while still enjoying the outstanding amenities of Munds Park and our vacation home. And it's only 2 hours door-to-door from our home in Chandler.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

We 3 sisters had a great stay. The cabin had everything we needed and was very quiet and peaceful. Perfect resting spot after a day of hiking.

There were a couple of housekeeping issues when we arrived. A call to Tim quickly rectified and he refunded part of our cleaning charge. I gave a 5 star rating because I feel issues can occur and it is how the owner responds that is important. Tim was very apologetic and offered to come over to do a walk-thru to ensure all was OK. That was not necessary but we appreciated his offer.

We would definitely stay here again.

Owner's Response: Kathy- Thank you for the great 5 star review. It sounds like you and your sisters got to experience all that we love about our cabin and the Munds Park area. Regarding the house keeping issues, I did want to make our future guests aware that our housekeeping service is typically impeccable and often lauded by our guests when they arrive. In this particular case, we were using our back-up service because our primary housekeeper was on a well-deserved vacation. Her backup cleaners have always been awesome in the past, but it looks like they had a couple of misses this time: Left trash in the trash can, left some clothing articles in the bathroom and closet from our prior renters that day, etc. Thanks again for bringing these items to our attention. I am happy you all had a nice time and hope you can come back some time. Regards, Tim

Amazing place!

  • 4 of 5

Lovely vacation cabin home in the mountain pines. Beautiful home and surroundings - had everything we needed. 3 great bedrooms and 2 baths. Perfect for girls' weekend. It was a nice get-away from the heat and crowds. Beautiful location for star gazing on the wrap around deck. Tim was very helpful to answer any questions we had. It was an ideal location for us to stay!

nice property, clean and well kept.

  • 4 of 5

had a nice stay at this property in munds park, az. not much to do in munds park other than hiking, exploring the national forest or playing golf, but setting was nice and peaceful and only a few minutes to flagstaff for dinner and evening recreation. overall, nice place and visit.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the nice review, John. I just wanted to make note to our future potential guests that Munds Park is indeed a cabin community in the middle of Coconino National Forest that tends to appeal to folks who like to get away from the city bustle and enjoy the outdoors. We have some nice amenities that provide a variety of options as well. While Flagstaff is pretty close and has some really nice restaurants and eclectic nightlife, we do have a restaurant in Munds Park called Pinewood Bar and Grill for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also do some fun things there like karaoke, Fish Fry Fridays, Taco Tuesdays, and have an occasional band. Besides exploring the forest and hiking, there is also fishing and kayaking on Lake Odell down the street. Guests can use our two man kayak. We have three mountain bikes for our guests to use. There is also a playground and basketball court nearby for the kids. You can also rent UTVs and ATVs in Munds Park to explore the hundreds of miles of trails and beautiful vistas throughout the forest. Many folks like using our cabin as a base for exploring northern Arizona. The Grand Canyon, Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon, Slide Rock, Meteor Crater, Walnut Canyon Indian Ruins, Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course, famous Route 66, Snow Bowl Ski Resort, etc. are all relatively short drives from our cabin. Finally, at our cabin, we have a regulation sized sand horseshoe pit, a bag toss game, a bunch of indoor board games, a gas fire pit for smores and gathering around. I just wanted to point out some of the additional things for people to do up at Munds Park and at our cabin.

great base camp for family adventures

  • 5 of 5

The house was exactly as it said it would be and well placed for some Arizona expeditions. It was well equipped to either stay and relax all day at the cabin or to prepare meals and sleep between adventures. Tim was a gracious and helpful host. The owners have clearly worked to balance out the temperature variations in the home and put a lot of effort into its upkeep. One thing to note if you plan to cook is that the nearest market is in Flagstaff.
