Grandview 14 provides everything on your waterfront wish list! Imagine the loon calls echoing in the still night air and soft lake breezes. Imagine quiet walks among the grand-daddy pines.

One of Southern Maine's nicest lakes, Lake Arrowhead is known for its world class bass fishing. The Department of Fisheries and Wildlife has recently named Lake Arrowhead as the only Trophy Base Lake in Maine and it regularly plays host to some of the areas biggest bass fishing championships. In fact, NESN and ESPN's emmy award winning Charlie Moore, aka, 'The Mad Fisherman', can often be seen filming his show on our waters. Watch for his bright orange boats! It is an 1100 acre lake, ideally located between Portland, Maine and North Conway, New Hampshire. It is known for its crystal-clear water, perfect for swimming and boating. It is full of coves, islands and inlets which make for some nice exploring with the canoe,or kayaks provided with your rental.

Grand View 14 has one of the nicest waterfronts on the lake with just the right balance of trees and open views to make it beautiful. The main house and guest cottage are nestled only 50 feet from the water's edge on 163' of waterfront.

Enjoy the hammock or the cozy swing down by the lakefront, a great place to 'catch some rays' or watch the sunset. There is a private dock for mooring your own boat or personal watercraft. Fishing rods, a canoe, rowboat, pedal boat and 2 kayaks are available for use during your stay with us. Additional kayaks available for rent for $50/week, delivery included.

Play some tennis or shoot a few hoops at the community courts, just a 5 minute walk from Grand View 14. As our guest you have access to the private clubhouse that offers indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a game room. There is a large grassy space to play croquet and the entire property has exquisite perennial gardens that provide all season colors. There is a children's play area with monkey bars and swings. There is also a little tykes play center and sand box for the younger ones.

Custom built for the owners, Grand View 14, has a fully equipped kitchen and breakfast nook. A great room with flat screen TV and gas fireplace, a cozy loft, a master bedroom suite with jacuzzi tub all contribute to your perfect New England vacation. Master bedroom has Queen bed and fireplace, 2nd bedroom has a Queen bed and loft has a Queen pull-out. There are 2 baths, one on each level and a full size washer and dryer on the main level. There is over 700 square feet of two-tiered decking, all with panoramic lake views.

Owners have a guesthouse with sun room on the premises that will sleep an additional three persons. It is available with the main house rental at an additional weekly cost. Please call for more details on the Guest house.

Summer finds you ideally located for a day trip to the fabled Maine coast. Old Orchard Beach offers 7 miles of sandy ocean beach with an amusement park and is a 40 minute ride. Kennebunkport, a classic Maine village and summer home to our former President, George Bush, is also a 40 minute ride. In less than an hour you can be in Freeport, home to the world famous LL Bean Store that is open 24 hours, 365 days a year.

Leaf Peepers, nothing beats the glorious colors of Autumn in Maine. A kayak or canoe trip around the lake offers a unique perspective on the season. Fall is the perfect time to visit one of Maine's famous country fairs or to visit the quaint shops and antique stores in the area. Maine's largest Agricultural fair is only 45 minutes from Grand View 14 and has a reputation known throughout North America. The 164th Fryeburg fair runs Oct 1-8, 2017.

Also a perfect winter retreat, you can take on the challenge of ice fishing right from your doorstep. Grand View 14 is located right on the local snowmobile trail network. Both alpine and x-country skiing are nearby. Shawnee Peak, the longest running ski resort in Maine and 'home of the most night skiing trails' is within an hour. Snow tubing at Seacoast Fun park with lift serviced tubing hills is only 30 minutes away.

About Valancy Harlow

Steve is a Chartered Financial Consultant and Valancy is a dental hygienist and a certified group exercise / water fitness instructor.

Steve is a native Mainer and Valancy grew up in New Brunswick, Canada.

We have one son, who is a recent college graduate in Civil Engineering. Our son has played hockey since age 4 so these are our first winters not spent living at the rink!

Valancy and our yellow lab, Samson, have become quite the team on the dog agility competition circuit. You may see Samson practicing his jumps off the dock.

We love skiing and we love the lake!

Why Valancy Harlow chose Lake Arrowhead

Steve stumbled across the property while teaching in the local school district back in 1980. It's location on the deepest end of the lake and the level/gentle sloping lot with 173' of direct lakefront made it too good to pass up. He used his summer time off to build out the large garage into an in-law guest house, which allowed his parents to move into it when they retired in 1985. While constantly updating the property every year, it now bears little resemblance to the large chalet camp of 1980. After moving to Saco in 2006, we decided to share Grand View 14 as a rental property unlike any other you will find in the area.

What makes this house unique

Being a grandfathered property, we are lucky to have our home located only 50 feet from the water, with a gentle slope on the lakeside with a flat grass play area inside the circular drive on the street side. We also love the serenity of all the hidden coves on the Lake.

The perfect start to a day is to paddle around in the kayaks watching the sunrise.

Memorizing Lake View and beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

What an exciting week. We brought a huge storm of wind and rain with us but we made rainbows out of the storm, thanks to Valancy and Steve Harlow. We made awesome memories and will definitely be back. The property had everything to make the perfect vacation. Owners were beyond attentive to our every need. Thanks so much to the Harlow's.

September 2017

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at 14 Grandview on September 9th, 2017 for a week stay. It was just as pictured online. Beautiful place. The owner really did his homework on setting it up for entertainment. Had a bumper pool table and air hockey table right inside of the cottage. There were many board games, two TV's, stereo with a turntable, many albums to listen to, books to read, two gas fireplaces (one in the master BR), two full baths, laundry, full kitchen with all the amenities, dishwasher, microwave, stove, dishes, pots, pans, utensils of all sorts, assortment of spices, coffee maker with coffee and filters, toaster, multiple kayaks, canoe, peddle boats, camp fireplace, wood for camp fires, gas/charcoal BBQ grill, you name it the owner really tricked the place out!! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a nice quiet and fun place. Don't even have to leave the cottage for entertainment. I can't say enough about it. Awesome place and really nice owner. Thanks for a wonderful stay!!!

Fully equipped!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay! This place has everything you need for a lakefront vacation! Pedal boat, kayaks, row boat, fire pit, grill, sandboxes, swings, fishing poles, water toys, flotation vests of all sizes! Incredibly gracious and accommodating hosts. If traveling with toddler aged kids, just be prepared to watch them vigilantly. There is a large area of the center of living room floor set down about 6-8 inches with brick border, glass coffee table and our two year old made pretty easy work of opening the deadbolt and handle on the door to the backyard/lake. We would book again in a heartbeat though!

Great Home with Lots of Great Options

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay here - tons of things to do between the lake, the clubhouse, and easy travel to lots of get away options. The hosts have thought of everything - all the conveniences of home without the chores! The home is spotless and has a washer / dryer so you can go home spotless too.

Our two young girls (4 & 9) loved the lake, the boats, swimming at the clubhouse pool (both indoor and outdoor), biking, and having a fire at night. The house is under an hour from York, Kennebunkport, Old Orchard Beach, and Portland so we had lots of great options for day trips.

We are looking forward to going back!

What a Great Escape

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived, we were greeted by Steve who was kind enough to show us the grounds and the interior of the house. Two simple words describe what we saw, beautiful and clean. The grounds are gorgeous, you are right on the lake and Valancy and Steve have all the equipment for your lake enjoyment from kayaks, canoes, and paddleboat to flotations so you can swim in the lake which we were surprised on how warm and clean it was. The house is beautiful and roomy. We used the upstairs bedroom which has an air conditioner. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. Quiet and relaxing, that is what we needed, but Valancy and Steve have many options in the area that you can involve yourself in. Thank you Valancy and Steve, we will be back.

Very cozy and pleasant home on a beautiful lake

  • 5 of 5

Much needed getaway with family. Peaceful surroundings on idyllic lake with some big fish. Caught some nice ones right off the dock. Valancy and Steve could not have been more pleasant and responsive. Lovely hosts. Day trip to North Conway was fun. Hit Woodys for some great bar food and cooked on the gas grill as well. Being able to rent a pontoon or Bass boat would have been perfect. That was the only draw back.
