Come for a romantic weekend or get together with family or a group of friends.
The Spy House is rich with history and has been lovingly updated by Its owner. It was built in 1890 in the Federal style and has been adapted for modern living with an open-concept living room and kitchen.
Any cook will feel at home in the well appointed eat-in kitchen. You can enjoy a relaxing meal around the large handmade farm table. You will find a heavy-duty gas stove, stainless steel appliances and granite countertops.
The master bathroom features a vintage clawfoot tub and the guest bathroom was recently remodeled. Each of the three bedrooms has a comfortable queen-sized bed.
The house is situated on Camp Hill, is less than a ten minute walk to downtown historic Harpers Ferry and the train station. There is no downside to being so close to the action as even on the busiest of days in the Ferry, it remains quiet at the Spy House.
One of the house's former residents was suspected of being a spy for Germany, investigated and arrested by the FBI in 1945, and soon after pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit espionage; hence the name, the Spy House.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my house. I am a photographer and a home renovation geek. I bought this house which was a diamond in the rough. To make the space consistent with the way people now live, I opened up the first floor to make for a very social and inviting space. I have put countless hours of sweat equity into the house to make it what it is today. Please be respectful as it is more than just a typical rental property.
Jay purchased this House in 2012
Why Jay chose Harpers Ferry
A friend who lives in town introduced me to Harpers Ferry about ten years ago. There are amazing hiking trails, swimming spots, fishing holes, vegetable stands, flea markets, antique shops and civil war sites. This is a wonderful, beautiful and peaceful community.
What makes this House unique
The house is located in the historic part of town know as Camp Hill. It is walking distance to the shops and sites of lower town as well as the train station. even on the busiest of summer days in town it stays quiet up here. you can sit out on the front porch in the swing and read a book, listen to the wind chimes and enjoy a cold drink.

Relaxing Stay in Charming House
We stayed at Spyhouse for a long spring break weekend with two small kids. Location is great, walk to lower town either via street or AT, plus many unexpected historic buildings, parks etc within just a couple blocks. No cable but Roku and Chromecast so was able to watch final four. Nice stereo with Bluetooth was unexpected at a rental property. Overall clean and comfortable. Jay was very responsive. Would recommend.
It was a wonderfully restored home in a great location. The kitchen was fully equipped and a joy to work in. It’s near to all the hiking and historic places. A perfect choice for the Harpers Ferry area.
A great house, with everything we needed and more
Perfect house! Perfect location! Perfect owner!
Great house in a convenient location.
Our family had a great time at Spy House. The house is well equipped with daily necessities so it was nice to not have to run out to the store. We enjoyed the games. We walked to everything from the house. So much nicer than staying at a hotel!
Well-kept, spacious, and in a beautiful setting.
The spy house is a wonderful place to stay, spacious kitchen for cooking, well stocked, and comfortable space for lounging around.
Great historical getaway!!
Had a great time in Harper's Ferry! This house is awesome and a perfect walk to town and the AT. Jay offered any help or suggestions needed. Would stay again!
