Large Craftsman Style Home Set Against The Magnificent Swan Mountains.
About Lisa Gilbert
Originally from Southern California, we purchased this property to create a quiet self sufficient and sustainable life for our small family. We are raising goats, chickens, livestock guardian dogs, and organic fruits and veggies. We love to share our special sanctuary with other like minded people and to collaborate with other Montana businesses that offer unique and special experiences. We have worked very hard to have and keep a Conditional Use Permit from the County to be able to share our property with people looking to peacefully retreat in this special place.
Lisa Gilbert purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2011
Why Lisa Gilbert chose Bigfork
This property is incredibly special and uniquely showcases the majestic qualities of each season. We love the variety of wildlife traversing the land, including deer, elk, moose, foxes, bobcat, raccoon, squirrels, bald eagles, ducks, geese, hawks, cranes, herons, owls and many other birds, most notably the wild swan. White Tail Deer tend to be the most common but are the most lovely and peaceful sighting. Occasionally, bear, wolf, and mountain lion are seen but our big guardian dogs keep these larger predators off our property. This property is not appropriate for parties or large groups of people.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
A cascading waterfall, reflective pond, large rock scape gardens, surrounding forest, and the back drop of the Swan Mountain Range offers a sacred space for family or organizational gatherings. The gorgeous mountain range, surrounding forest, cascading waterfall, reflective pond and large rock scape gardens provide magical photographic opportunities, especially during sunset when the sun casts an amazing panoramic alpine glow. This enchanted venue accommodates a variety of events; from family reunions, and small workshops, to a simple romantic get-away or a family vacation destination. We fell in love with this beautiful private property, the wilderness setting, and its unique craftsman style structures, and you will too!

How fortunate were we?
To find this place and stay here?
This house is beautiful.
This property is beautiful.
Ideal location. Private. You can easily get to several delightful towns, and dine and shop. The West entrance to Glacier is only a 45 minute drive.
A wonderful experience.
The home is a HOME...
There were 5 of us staying in the home an we had plenty of room to be together or to have our own space.
The home was nestled in the trees so every window was like a view from a tree house. At night we felt like we were miles from everyone. It was such a vacation from our crazy, crowded, noisy life in California.
One of my favorite things was the water dispenser in the refrigerator. We all fill up water bottles so having the cold water right from the fridge was such s treat. No plastic water bottles needed here.
I hope one day we will come back an stay longer.
Lovely home, quiet setting, perfect for families
Our family was attending a wedding celebration in Bigfork that went on for several days. Wild Swan was the perfect place for all of us (five adults and two children) to retreat to for a bit of peace and quite after the various wedding activities. Very comfortable and spacious inside and the outside was wonderful to let the children play. Lovely interior construction and decorating details and beautiful views. Kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals and snacks. Had a bit of a hiccup with the hot water, but made a quick phone call and the issue was handled perfectly. Highly recommend this home for a quiet place to be central for all the activities that people want to enjoy here in Montana. Bigfork, Flathead Lake, Whitefish, Glacier Park, Kalispell are all within an easy drive.
Beautiful property and so peaceful
Property was amazing and the retreat was even more amazing. We will be staying again next year for the same weekend and can’t wait to rest and relax at this beautiful location.
Only items would be maybe directions in km for CDN visitors, and a few more bigger pots in the kitchen. Especially since we will cook a big pasta meal before each race. Also a recycling container would have been useful.
Thanks again and we will see you all next May!
We are very pleased that we have the opportunity to share our special place and that you enjoyed it so much!
If you can believe it, the only recycle-ables here are paper and cardboard. We don't have any locations near us that will accept bottles or plastics. Such a bummer.
We have updated the kitchen with larger pots, a pasta claw and scissors. Thank you for your recommendations.
See you next year!
Wonderful holiday trip!
Our family very much enjoyed our stay. Lisa and Monica went above and beyond to make our holiday a nice one. Due to terrible planning on my part that had us arriving after the stores closed on Christmas Eve, Lisa offered to put a duck and turkey in the fridge for us and made a shopping trip to get us basic supplies to get through Christmas. They even offered us a tree if we wanted one for the holiday. We were hit with a snowstorm while here and our car got stuck in the driveway the night before we were to leave. They called and had the driveway plowed in the morning so we made it to the airport on time. Amazing! We were all sad to leave, including the teenagers. The home is beautiful and we would definitely stay again. Thanks Lisa and Monica for a relaxing and memorable visit.
